Not suitable for motorhomes

Great facilities and shop but not suitable for motorhomes due to the remoteness of the site. We read that there was a bus stop outside and hoped that we would be able to leave our Motorhome on site and tour the area. However, the bus did not go to any of the costal resorts that we wanted to see. We therefore had to drive our Motorhome every day of our stay, to visit places like Christchurch. We found here that all the car parks had height barriers and were not Motorhome friendly !! Checking in and out of the site was very haphazard. Although we booked in advance we had to cruise around the site to find a pitch and found that all of the hard standing pitches were taken. The site was dominated by caravans and their large awnings with very few motorhomes. We spent two days on a very wet grass pitch, but then moved to a hard pitch for the third day. Check out and in was supposed to be 12 noon, but new caravans were checking in well before that time and were taking pitches that existing customers, could have moved to, to improve their stay. We will not return here as it was not Motorhome friendly and was too remote.

EXCELLENT SITE

This was our fist visit was for 4 nights and we booked a serviced pitch. On our arrival the wardens took time to explain which pitches were available and advised us on what they thought was the best available. This is an immaculate site with first class facilities including a well stocked shop. Plenty of good places to eat within 3 miles or so and great location for exploring the area. Well worth a visit if you are looking to explore the New Forest and surrounding coast.

Great Time Away

We have been here before, it only gets better, the staff are very helpful and willing to help if they can. The site & facilities is very clean and tidy, I like the bike and dog wash as our springer spaniel has to be washed off after every trip out be it just walking or out with the bikes so I would recommend this site to all walkers and bikers lots of places to see and discover every time.

lovely site shop, shame about the grass!

A very well stocked site shop and clean toilet block. We stayed on pitch 86 and the grass in this area was very long and untidy. We have never seen this before on any club site. Please don't blame the weather - we have stayed on many club sites in very poor weather and the wardens are out cutting grass regardless. On this site the grass had gone to seed, it was that long.

cycling heaven

Really enjoyed our stay, site excellent, didn't feel like a big site, wardens very helpful. Cycling the forest was on the doorstep, lovely places to visit, definitely to be recommended if you enjoy cycling mostly off road too. I would also recommend the forest cycling map which can be purchased from site.

Need to control vehicles not sticking to the speed limit.

We love this site and visit more than once a year. However we are becoming increasingly aware of vehicles not keeping to the 5mph speed limit. The site would benefit from increased use of speed humps to increase the safety of the site before there is an accident. Even the wardens' little vehicle does not appear to stick to the limit.

Half Term Break

We visited this site for the first time at half term in May. It is in a great position in the New Forest both in terms of local walks/cycling but also for getting to the Coast at Bournemouth. The site is very clean and tidy. The Wardens were very helpful. The site shop is one of the best stocked ones I've ever come across. There are two lovely dog walking areas if you are taking your furry friend/s along. As it was half term, it was very noisy with children enjoying themselves. Again, the childrens park and football area is great. If you don't have children, a half term break here is not for you. As we were staying for a week, I booked a service pitch. Unfortunately, this proved to be a bad decision. Whilst the serviced pitches are in a good location, they are very small compared to most of the other pitches on this site - some of the grassed pitches are huge! To say you pay extra for these pitches, it was very disappointing that you didn't get a larger area. We will definitely be returning to this site but we won't be on a serviced pitch.

Transport

Unfortunately there are now no buses within 1 mile of the site so the 'key' to facilities needs to be updated accordingly. As a motor-home user we had hoped to use public transport to explore and leave our motor-home on site. The 3 New Forest Tourist buses (one of which is within 1 mile) do not start until 25 June and end mid-September.

Nice site but

This is a lovely site facilities are great and kept nice and clean wardens are very friendly and helpful only downfall is when you have a grass pitch squeezed in between the hardstanding which can make you feel to close to each other it's very large site and would be better if they had separate areas for both hardstanding and grass pitches will definitely return but not in the busy periods
