Camp site is extremely clean and quiet and well attended so book early guys as space is a premium here. WiFi a little dodgy in certain areas the staff said they have asked BT to sort it but as yet it’s still slightly dodgy, that being said if your after a great quiet getaway this is the site for you especially with what the new forest has to offer right on the door step.
Not a good location for motorhomes out of season
Nice friendly warden greeted us on arrival. Given a map showing the very few hardstanding pitches still available. All but 1 of those (which had been taken by people before us) were on the mustang area. Unfortunately these pictures are near the road and the cattlegrid so every morning we were disturbed very early from the traffic noise.
Fish and chip van 3 nights a week and the gin bar was popular. Vendors of fish and chip van miscalculated quantities required. Haddock sold out and the chicken breast was also sold out fairly soon during their visit, I opted for cod, which was quite small and came served with a lemon slice and a long auburn (orange/brown) hair, found halfway through eating my meal. So was not impressed
Site was tidy and toilet block nice and clean
There is a bus stop outside camp gates but buses only run through the season so no transport to get around as we did not take our bikes. There are bikes for hire but seemed expensive. Nice steady walk to nearest village offering a few shops and cafe for refreshments.
Many horses and cows roaming loose just passed cattlegrid and the non club site just up the road had shop plus hot food and drink available (closed Monday and Tuesday during September) with nice walks through the surrounding forest.
Things to do in the area were very limited with no transport so I would not recommend this site for motorhomers.
Bins by the entrance only is a problem. Others I spoke to were not impressed with it either and recycling was not a priority, everything in 1 bag and taken to skip on departure seemed the norm.
This is a nice site and in a nice location but is not on our list for a return visit
Great site but poor WiFi (again)
Great location, facilities and wardens but WiFi is poor when the site gets at least half full - even when paid for so called Premium WiFi. We have found this at various sites and really need an explanation from the Club on this persisitent issue.
Great that E-bikes are available to hire at thsi site although they are too big for some people.
Overpriced
We stayed for 2 weeks on a grass pitch. We arrived in the rain and had to pitch our awning on very long , very wet grass, which stayed wet for days after the rain had stopped. For the duration of our stay we did not see a single grass pitch being mowed, weeds being removed from the hard standing pitches or from around the toilet blocks. We did see the grass at the entrance being cut and the weeds being removed from around the reception.
All the pitches at the top end of Mustang, those closest to the road, are extremely noisy as they are close to a cattle grid and the road noise starts early morning.
All the best grass pitches are on Liberator (which had recently been mowed) but for some reason Liberator is closed, why when the site was full?
Having only one main rubbish/recycling collection area near the reception, is a very bad idea. I didn't mind taking my rubbish and recycling there, but what about those who can't walk very well. I also didn't see people recycling as much. People carried one rubbish bag with everything in it and put it all in the same bin. It would be interesting to see if the club has monitored recycling rates before and after this "box ticking" green policy was introduced.
The site is in a reasonable location for exploring the area, countryside and coast, however walking directly from the site means walking for 1/2 mile or so on a busy'ish road.
We had a good holiday and love the area (we've stayed at Black Knoll before) but it's doubtful we will return to New Century.
Our favourite site
Have been to this site many times now and alway well maintained and in in a great location for the New Forest and local Seaside.
Slightly disappointed that only one hand dryer working in Ladies and none working in Gents for the 4 nights we were there. Be aware that recycling is now centralised near entrance so more exercise required now!
Had planned to take advantage of App-bikes but be aware that you need to be at least 5ft 3inches to be able to reach ground (with electric bikes) so abandoned that.
Not a great stay
Ist time at this site lovely location but the site a disappointment. This site is meant to be open to the end of October, but be aware they shut off the whole of the Liberator section early , which are about one third of the grass pitches. Told when I got there with my sister that we would be lucky if we wanted a pitch together, which of course we would of preferred, but the attitude of the staff was basically, tough!. We were told we may be able to get two together but as there were people already riding around for pitches it was doubtful, as they were busy (so why shut a third of the site down!). Finally after driving around 3 times and going back to reception to ask for help as we could not see any grass pitches, had 2 pointed out to us on the map in close proximity with each other. the pitch I booked was grass with awning, I found myself squeezed in between two hard standing pitches with loads of room for car, caravan and awning. But I could not put my awning out as the pitch was not big enough, allowing for fire break. Never saw the staff walk the site and keep a check for the 2 nights we stayed. Loved the site, not the attitude, will book again, but I am aware now that I will get no help from staff I will also book a hard stand as much more room, and no chance of making out the grass pitch in between is grass with awning, instead of just a standard grass pitch.

More Rubbish Bins
There was only one point to put your rubbish in the bins if you are on the outside of the site it is a long walk to the bins at reception and not many dog poo bins. All that said it is a very good site.

Disappointed
We booked for 5 nights, 2 adults and 2 dogs. We had a lovely 3 nights until a family with 3 pitches arrived. They parked a works van across the pitch next to us to reserve it, when the wardens popped round they moved it and then put a deck chair there instead.
They had music playing until 23.30, language was disgusting.
We did tell the wardens but sadly the noise continued the following night so unsure if our concerns were listened to.
First disappointing experience on a CAMC site. I had read mixed reviews and now wish I had paid more attention.
Lovely clean site and good facilities
Wouldn’t return however due to our experience
Good family site
We booked a last minute 1 night break, we live about 30 miles away so were very familiar with the area.
The site itself is well maintained, staff are lovely and there are lots of things for the younger generation to do which is great.
There are a couple of places for your dog(s) to exercise but you'll need to venture off the site for a proper walk, it's about 15 - 20 minutes to a good spot.
The pitch (grass with EH) was fine, good amount of space and we had no issues with any of the facilities.
Managed to get on the wifi - no idea why it's limited to an hour at a time????? Mobile signal was more of a challenge but after a reboot we managed to get that as well.
When booking the pitch we kept away from the play areas thinking the families would book that area, we were wrong. In general they were fine - just being kids but they kept cycling around the back of our pitch or across it which was a little concerning when we had 2 dogs on there and we doing a BBQ. Had we stayed longer I would have politely requested the parents to have a word with the culprits, but something to bear in mind when booking a family site during school holidays.
Great Site, But.....
Stayed for a week in absolute glorious weather. Decided to downgrade our pitch from serviced hardstanding to Grass. Hardstanding areas looked hemmed in and not very picturesque
Excellent near level pitch and a short walk to the shower block and SP.
Would have rated 5 stars for the none existent wi-fi and phone signal at the site. I tried both the free and premium and neither worked
Whilst understanding that some people like to get away from it all, I still had basic work commitments which required both phone and wi-fi. I got nothing on mobile data EE, Three or the Club Wi-fi. If it did connect it would drop out or take an absolute age to load a page.
If the site offers wi-fi then it should work for everyone and not on selected pitches and areas. I have encountered this problem at three sites now so improvements must be made by the club to improve connectivity in this modern era.
Wardens - Excellent and courteous. It's their job to keep the site clean and safe.
Shower block - Very dated but clean (most of the time) & functional.
Tv reception from EH point - Excellent
Wi-fi - Abysmal
Location - Excellent for us. Everything we wanted to do was within 5 - 30 minute drive
