cycling heaven

Really enjoyed our stay, site excellent, didn't feel like a big site, wardens very helpful. Cycling the forest was on the doorstep, lovely places to visit, definitely to be recommended if you enjoy cycling mostly off road too. I would also recommend the forest cycling map which can be purchased from site.

Need to control vehicles not sticking to the speed limit.

We love this site and visit more than once a year. However we are becoming increasingly aware of vehicles not keeping to the 5mph speed limit. The site would benefit from increased use of speed humps to increase the safety of the site before there is an accident. Even the wardens' little vehicle does not appear to stick to the limit.

Half Term Break

We visited this site for the first time at half term in May. It is in a great position in the New Forest both in terms of local walks/cycling but also for getting to the Coast at Bournemouth. The site is very clean and tidy. The Wardens were very helpful. The site shop is one of the best stocked ones I've ever come across. There are two lovely dog walking areas if you are taking your furry friend/s along. As it was half term, it was very noisy with children enjoying themselves. Again, the childrens park and football area is great. If you don't have children, a half term break here is not for you. As we were staying for a week, I booked a service pitch. Unfortunately, this proved to be a bad decision. Whilst the serviced pitches are in a good location, they are very small compared to most of the other pitches on this site - some of the grassed pitches are huge! To say you pay extra for these pitches, it was very disappointing that you didn't get a larger area. We will definitely be returning to this site but we won't be on a serviced pitch.

Transport

Unfortunately there are now no buses within 1 mile of the site so the 'key' to facilities needs to be updated accordingly. As a motor-home user we had hoped to use public transport to explore and leave our motor-home on site. The 3 New Forest Tourist buses (one of which is within 1 mile) do not start until 25 June and end mid-September.

Nice site but

This is a lovely site facilities are great and kept nice and clean wardens are very friendly and helpful only downfall is when you have a grass pitch squeezed in between the hardstanding which can make you feel to close to each other it's very large site and would be better if they had separate areas for both hardstanding and grass pitches will definitely return but not in the busy periods

Lovely site but........

This is a lovely site, in a great location and with very friendly and helpful wardens. Facilities are spotless apart from how other caravanners sometimes leave them.  One of the wardens gave us some great info on a local dog friendly beach but it's a shame that this isn't more advertised. The beach is well worth a visit and apparently the beach hut cafe is very good for sandwiches and cakes! Lovely walks around the New Forest and in particular the one from Puttles Bridge - especially if your dog likes water! The only reason we did not give the highest mark for overall rating is, as another reviewer commented on, the way grass pitches are squeezed between hardstandings. At another CC Club site we were told that the way we pitch and park gives the safety distances in case of fire etc. This didn't seem to apply on this site - come on Caravan Club - you have many rules that we accept and adhere to so why do they appear to be broken here??

Superb Site

Great site handy for New Forest and Dorset. Wardens friendly and very helpful. The facilities are excellent and kept spotlessly clean (pity some of our fellow caravanners are sometimes less than considerate when leaving them). I would unreservedly recommend this site.

Camping heaven

The Staff set the tone for this site. They are not only helpful but dedicated to ensuring all Campers have a great experience. We had a Family crisis whilst away and the Staff were helpful and checked progress over the period we were on site.Cleaning times for showers etc are the best ever(early afternoon) NOT at 10.30 or 11.0am to suit the Staff.Whole site was exceptional and cleanest toilets ever. The Staff here set the standard that others should follow. I hope there expertise is recognised. Thank you for a great stay. "We will return"!!!

Good site,good location

A nice clean well maintained site but the site plan on the website is a little deceptive as it dosn't show grass pitches, some rather squeezed in between hard standings. That said we like the site and the area enough to have stayed several times and willcertainly return. Very friendly cheerful wardens. Although there are plenty of very clear speed signs a number of drivers far exceed the 5mph which is inconsiderate as there are often children riding round on bikes.

Fantastic Week

Spent last week here first time on this site in approximately 35 years (wasn't Caravan Club then). I took my elderly mother who has friends in nearby Barton on Sea. The Wardens allocated us a pitch near to the toilets which was ideal. Everything was spotless. Wardens helpful and shop well stocked. Good eating places 2.5 to 3 miles away. My favourite being the Cat and the Fiddle on the A35 brings back lots of childhood memories and now takes dogs in the bar. I will be back with my husband and the hounds. It is a wonderful location and so many places to visit.
