Summer break

We chose Meathop Fell as we have used this site a number of times before. This time for a week with the Grand Kids and despite a few grey days they had a fantastic time so much so we booked an extra 2 days. It is a great site with good amenities and perfect as a base for the South Lakes. I would highly recommend this site to anyone planning a visit to the area.

Perfect Weeekend

This was our 2nd stay at this site and we stayed for 4 nights with our non camping friends staying at the nearby Woodlands hotel as we were going to Cartmel races on on Monday. The site is clean and peaceful with helpful staff and a perfect location to walk into Grangeover Sands and Cartmel only 10 mins away. I am not sure what the blue pegs reviewer was on about as the flowers outside the shop were lovely and we had no problems getting a suitable awning pitch on a busy bank holiday. Would highly recommend this site and call in for a meal and drink at the bar of the dog friendly Woodlands Hotel nearby.

Blue peg woods

Spent a week on this site which is starting to go down hill.On arrival noticed 3 hanging baskets, must off been of last year.Wanted a white peg because of my awning but are very hard to find on this site, more blue pegs than white and the blue peg pitches are better so if you have no intention off putting up a awning book a blue peg.The toilet block is 1st class but poor water pressure lets it down.Apart from all that i will come back to this site one day because of its location

Our favourite site!

Once again the site came up to expectations! Congratulations to the wardens on the high standard of cleanliness and care at Meathop. Pleased also to find that the access road had been resurfaced. We'll be back!

Meathop Fell

Enjoyable stay in the south of Cumbria near Grange over Sands. Handy for the hills and lake Windermere with is cruises. Site is rather remote with the access road being narrow and steep in places. Limited activities for wheelchair users, but that is true for most places. Facities on site are excellent and scrupulously clean. Wardens helpful and informative. Overall a good place and we will be back, just praying not meeting too many vehicles on the access road.

Rested and Renewed

My wife and I just spent a wonderful 13 nights at Meathop Fell, the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful with great advice for good walks and if you cycle, you can leave the car behind and enjoy a good network right from the site. Our grandson spent almost a week with us and loved the whole adventure not to mention the wonderful bacon and black pudding available from the shop. This is a well placed site for exploring the South Lakes, with a number of nearby attractions, including steam trains, cruises, the Lakeside motor museum and the legendary Cartmel sticky toffee pudding from the shop where it all started is just far to convenient. As the title says, rested and renewed..oh and returning to the diet!

Great location very close to Grange over Sands. Very peaceful and quiet with very friendly staff who keep the site in lovely condition including the toilet and shower facilities. My only disappointment was the WiFi which I needed did not work and even when it does is very hit and miss according to the office staff. Will definitely go back.

Fabulous

Fabulous site.   Had everything we needed after a busy week at work.  Friendly staff, spotless toilet block, well spaced out pitches, very peaceful.  Will definitely stay again.

Nice but faulty

Loved the site but not happy about the tales about wifi , was told with wifi should be fixed by wardens within the week of our visit but find out that the wifi at meathop fell has never worked properly or most of the time at all. . At £ 29.50 per night expect to be told the truth as we now know that the caravan club is well aware of the wifi situation at this site.

Sunshine and friends!

Stayed at the great site with our friends "Spinning wheels" from Alnwick 22/07 - 24/07. Loved the location and the layout of the site. Spotlessly clean, great facilities and very welcoming. As already mentioned, the woodlands could do with a visit from Mr Ramsay, however who needs a pub when you can enjoy a glass or two of wine sitting outside your van in the evening sunshine.! Thanks for a great weekend break.
