Lovely quiet site close to lake windermere and coniston. Good base for walkers. Spotless facilities but would benefit from facilities at bottom of camp as a bit of a treck up hill. Great base will definitely use again.
Fine site with helpful warden
We stayed here in July and it was a warm night . It was already quite busy at the campsite, but the warden was very helpful and so we could stay on a beautiful shaded pitch which was actually intended for very large motorhomes. Indeed, as others have said, the approach to the site seems a bit narrow, but it is certainly doable. Fine campsite.
Relaxing 7nights
This was our 1st visit to Meathop Fell.
We found it an excellent base for the Southern Lakes.
As previously mentioned common sense and a little care is required on the final mile approaching the site.
Don't let this put you off, we have a 5.2m tug and a 7.9m van met transit vans both ways and came out unscathed ??
Staff was all friendly and helpful.
The site itself was well maintained clean and tidy.
The shower block was immaculate and showers had plenty of power and hot water.
We will return
Weekend Break
Very friendly reception staff and a great welcome.
Beautiful views.
Our pitch was great until someone decided to take a non-awning pitch and then erected an awning which made our pitch a little claustrophobic.
However we were leaving the next morning so didn't make it an issue.
Otherwise a good site and we will return.
Relaxed
Our second stay in the last two months. This time for 10 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful especially when our caravan battery failed. Fresh bread is lovely. Cycled to Ambleside to watch the Tour of Britain. Had a wonderful pitch with views of the Kent Estuary, a perfect way to start and end each day. Site was clean, peaceful and relaxed We did not want to leave felt so relaxed, we will be back.
Meathop Visit
Visited the site during last week in August, enjoying its location and facilities. Ideal location for exploring southern Lakes, Grange over Sands, Cartmel, etc. No17, restaurant in Milnthorpe is well recommended.
Site and staffing are the usual exemplary CC standards. Good tourist info available on site.
Only down side is the tricky access of the last mile to the site. Very narrow and some steep corners. Not helped by members who seem to ignore the advised arrival and departure times.
Will use the site again.
Fantastic Club Site
I have got to say this is one of the best sites I have been on to date. It is peaceful. Staff are friendly and you can access the whole of the lakes for fantastic days out. I was surprised at getting milk in a good old fashioned bottle and a proper loaf of bread (showing my age now). I will be making more reservations in the very near future.
Lovely site
We visited this site with our 3 year old twin grandsons. We had a fantastic bank holiday weekend. The wardens were amazing. Very knowledgeable and helpful in every way. It is spotless and clean throughout with spacious pitches. We will definitely visit again and have already recommended this site to our friends.
Beautiful site
This is a lovely site, staff are superb- helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Facilities are spotless and the little shop stocks the essentials. If you have a motorhome, be aware that your nearest bus is 2.5 miles away. We went specifically to go to Cartmel races and luckily booked a return taxi a week in advance. You can get there by bus, but not back ! Fabulous trip all round though, just be aware that the access road is narrow so don't try to get there early and meet up with a caravan on its way out - not worth the risk !
Bank holiday stay
We stayed on Meathop over the August bank holiday and were not disappointed! Fabulous wardens ( couldn't praise them highly enough). Lovely pitches and spotlessly clean facilities, we will definitely be returning.
