First visit here and was quite pleased with the site.
Some of the road markings on the site could do with being re-signed or re-painted as we witnessed a couple of near misses with outfits unsure as to right of way etc.
As on most CC sites the toilet/shower block was very clean. Well done the wardens.
Another lovely stay
Third time we have visited this site, and the stay seem to get longer. Nice staff, good facilities, great area, always find something new to do.
We shall return in the near future.

Short stay in Mid October
The site was very clean and welcoming. Facilities were excellent.
Looking forward to a return visit in the new year.
Outstanding!
The usual warm welcome from the most outstanding wardens we have come across. I rang night before to advise we might be a bit late. They said NO PROBLEM, just ring the bell and we will nip out. As it happened the M6 was not a problem and we made good progress but they were still open. Nothing is too much trouble for these wardens. We even had sunshine. We had no problem with the wifi or the TV signal booster system. See you in New Year
Pleasant stay in October
We came to Meathop as other sites we wanted in Lake District were full so location not ideal for us. Staff very friendly and helpful and washrooms clean and very well maintained. The nearby hotel provided good evening meals. Disappointed that speed of WiFi was glacial, needless to say we relied on smartphone after day one. Interesting that whilst there was no security on access to the site we needed a key for the washroom.
Excellent Site
I was surprised at how busy the site was for October, however, even though fairly full, it was quiet and peaceful.
The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were immaculate. We used the hotel restaurant which is located just 5 minutes walk from the site. The meals were really good and great value with service from friendly staff.
Just two issues. The wifi was hopeless, with no Internet access for our entire stay, also, the tv signal booster system was to say the least, patchy with its reception. My satellite system would not work due to the tree cover.
But, overall a good site that we would use again.
Good Find But Terrible WiFi
This site is a little isolated and a good walk away from Grange over Sands but the site itself is excellent. We will be back. The only grip is the wifi. For 36 hours it was non existant. The warden I spoke to told me it was a long standing problem that was not the site wifi but the BT connection and service.
My only comment to the C Club is - if this is a known and serious deficiency then please do make it clear on the site description so that members do not book the site expecting wifi access.
But a great site - really nice
Gem of a site
As my first visit to a CC site I was impressed by the welcome I received. The gentleman on reception ( whose name I forgot to note) was extremely helpful to a "newby" and went out of his way to find me the perfect pitch for a lone lady motorhomer with two rather yappy dogs. The site was beautifully presented and the toilet facilities excellent. A short but interesting dog walk is available next to the site. Access to the site could be challenging for larger units but location excellent for access to southern lakes , Grange and Arnside. Probably more suited to to couples/singles then families as limited entertainment for children unless you are prepared to drive some distance.
Nicely tucked away site
This is a great site in a great location. Good views across the Kent estuary from some of the pitches and considering you can be in the heart of the Lake Ditrict in less than half an hour from here, you still have a sense of peace and quiet that you don't always get on the more busy Lake District sites. You have the whole of the Lakes to choose from for days out plus nearby Kirby Lonsdale (quaint village/nice shops) and Arnside good walking out to Silverdale and back over the Knott). We will be back.
Mixed review.
I have to be honest and say I was a bit disappointed with this site. There are only a limited number of pitches where you can put an awning up and when we did put ours up there is rock so close to the surface that the pegs wouldn't go very far into the ground. It is also necessary to use extreme measures to get the caravan anywhere near level on some pitches (large chunks of tree left next to the pitch to assist with this). To be fair the reward was a beautiful view of the estuary. Maintenance of the pitches to remove weeds/grass could also be better.
The shower block was, however, of the usual high standard.
The site is in a lovely location and the information room gave lots of ideas for days out. At one end of the site there is an excellent children's play area but the area is perhaps more suitable for couples. Anyone with walking difficulties may find the site a bit steep in parts and needs to be a consideration if you want to access the toilet block or can only manage an aquaroll on the level.
