Mesmerised with this site

Loved this site from the minute we drove in. Easy to access for us 'rookie' caravanners. You could feel the calming atmosphere immediately. Friendly temporary wardens. Excellent spotless facilities which were lovely and warm in a chilly November. Shop stocked with everything you need, could have travelled without any supplies and bought the local produce on arrival. (Note for next visit!) A very good restaurant only five minute walk down the drive at the Woodlands Hotel, a little more expensive than some pub grub but the food was worth the money. At the time of visit the site was quiet with loads of space. I'm sure we will visit many more times the setting is idyllic. Thank you for making our stay such a pleasure.

exelent week

excellent weeks stay at Meathop Fell apart from the Sunday night winds. Site was kept clean and tidy, toilet block immaculate and wardens polite and helpful, what more could you wish for on a quiate and peaceful site like this. Good base for touring round the area, but also nice to stay on site now and again just to chill out/

Great Site

Just returned from Meathop, lovely site, good choice of pitches, excellent modern shower block, wardens are hard working and welcoming. If you want to visit the Lakes and enjoy peaceful sites this is the place to be.

Useless Wifi

A lovely site at which we stay for two weeks every year in November. It meets the standard of all good CC sites and the wardens as we expect, are friendly and hard working. The only downside is the wifi, which is absolutely useless. I pay £25 per year for it and I expect better. Not for streaming, but it is difficult to even download e mails. I checked the download speed and it read a paltry 0.13 mbps. Luckily there is a 4G mobile signal, which checked out at 16.2 mbps. How can this be better than wifi? CC if you read these reports, please get your act together and sort it out. Go for a meal at the Royal Oak in Lindale, it's not cheap, but the food is tops. You won't be disappointed.

A peaceful base

Meathop fell club site is a peaceful location to base your break for exploring the lakes. We were only there three days and didn't have enough time to do much. It was nice and relaxing very friendly staff and possibly the best toilet facilities I've seen. Lovely warm showers with no timer . We will be returning in the spring.

Cold weather visit

This was the first cold weather use of the caravan. A good test at Meathop. Weather, wet fortunately rain during in the night. We were able to visit areas been to before and plenty of new ones. An ideal site for the southern lakes and Morecambe Bay. As with most CC sites the facilities are spotless, well maintained and adequate for the number of pitches. The reception by wardens also as always friendly. Thank you wardens.

FABULOUS!

Wonderful quiet site, close to the Lakes. Great location for cycling Site is well run, facilities spotlessly clean & the little site shop is very convenient for the essentials [milk etc] Our pitch was very flat [a small number are a somewhat sloped] with great views towards the coast. Highly recommended for a laid back stay!

Half Term Heaven

Just had a few days at half-term split between sites in the Lakes. Meathop was an excellent site with a small park for families, good facilities and brilliant wardens who were very knowledgeable about the area. Treasure hunt organised on site for the kids which will keep them entertained (including an explorer prize from the shop) and a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and will return in future (hopefully without the kids to try L'Enclume in nearby Cartmel).

Quiet,relaxing, peaceful stay.

We have recently returned from a week's stay at Meathop Fell, a lovely site - facilities excellent, fresh and clean and well maintained. The staff were helpful and friendly but not intrusive. We had a good level pitch ( some were sloping ) and, as we requested, quite close to the showers etc. The dog walking facilities are limited but we managed. There are no superpitches - thats the only improvement we could possibly suggest. Its a lovely area and we particularly enjoyed a vist to Cartmel. Also the Transport Museum near Lakeside is amazing . Definitely will return.

Great site, great facilities, great location.

I have just returned home after a few nights at Meathop Fell. It's a lovely site, with well spaced large pitches.  The wardens are very friendly and helpful, and keep the site very clean  and tidy. The toilet and shower block is warm, clean, and everything works perfectly. Just about the best I've seen.  I was only in a small campervan, so I opted to use the tarmac area opposite reception. It's nice and level, with regularly spaced power poles, which include TV aerial sockets, which was a  nice bonus. The lighting around the site is nice and low level and not too bright, enough to be able to see to walk about, but  doesn't cause issues when sleeping.  The site is lovely and quiet, with great views from most pitches. It's feels very spacious. It's on several levels, which is nice.  The little shop is well stocked, and had all the basics I needed.  I will most certainly return and stay here again. It's a great site, that's in a good location. The wardens work very hard, and it shows.
