Enjoyed 3 quiet nights here in late September. Great walks from the site. Handy for a visit to Grange over Sands, and to Sizergh. Wardens very helpful and facilities clean and up to date.
In our Top 5
The first time we've visited Meathop Fell and it went straight into our Top 5 sites. The whole site is exceptionally well cared for and it's well situated with lots to do in the area. Things we'd recommend doing: walking into Grange over Sands - for the well kept town and the promenade with a great cafe at the end. Take the train to Silverdale and just round the corner is RSPB Leighton Moss - with free entrance if you've travelled there by train or bike(!). The cafe there is also very good. Or for a very special treat get a taxi to Cartmel and have lunch at l'enclume, a 2 Michelin starred restaurant. It's not cheap, although the lunch menu is very good value for what it is and the service is fabulous (but not stuffy). Finally the Woodlands Hotel has a good bar and food, plus they don't mind you going into the bar in your walking gear. What's not to like?

Excellent five day stay
We stayed here during a six week tour around the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Easy site to find and very helpful and welcoming wardens. Pitch was hard standing so steel pegs needed, but no real problem. Facilities looked to have been recently upgraded and were kept very clean by the wardens. Sadly the same can't be said for some other club members who need to learn how to use a toilet brush! This is becoming a common problem and not just on club sites. Also the wardens need to be stricter with regard to arrival times, particularly on this type of site with a narrow approach road. It always amazes me that people can't plan their journey times better or just feel they are superior and rules don't apply to them The site is well situated for the lakes and surrounding area, in particular I can recommend the motor museum, which is very near the site. Overall we would recommend this site to anyone wishing to visit the lakes.
Lovely quiet well laid out site
Stopped for four nights on our way back from Scotland. Very friendly welcome. The site is well laid out and well tendered. Toilet facilities were plenty and clean. Washing machine and dryer were a great benefit to us have been in Scotland for two weeks already on a cl site.

Never Disappoints
This is one of our favourite sites and it never fails to disappoint, very clean wardens very friendly and set in a beautiful part of the world, the only gripe is the wifi, reception is terrible, nerveless we will be back.
Overall very enjoyable stay
Stayed at Meathop Fell Caravan site over a long weekend late September 2017 and overall it was very enjoyable. Great location with Grange over Sands within an easy walk (around an hour). Pitches are hardstanding which make putting the awning pegs a bit of a job. Lovely views from around the site too. 5 minute walk to the recommended Woodland Hotel next door for a drink or food with the bar area dog friendly. Will definately return again.

consistently excellent :)
the two of us went for one night in September . it was all the things I remember when we used to take the children . complete with Wifi it offers everything needed for a full stay . exceptionally clean , peaceful and excellent facilities . Cannot fault ,but may became the club flagship if it had an off licence and broader selection of chocolate :)
Brilliant site !
Great site for getting around the lakes. Spotless shower block and grounds.
However as approach to the site is restricted on width, the 1pm arrival time should
be enforced as vans were arriving as early as 9.40 am.
We all want to enjoy such a great site but that shouldn't mean that you risk a
situation where passing places on the road are restricted.

A pleasant band holiday weekend
This was the only site we could get into when we booked a few weeks so was wondering why.
we had forgotten it was Cartmel races and when we arrived on Saturday 26th we were told it was busy.
We received a warm welcome but there was some confusion as to the type of pitch we had booked as we have a folding camper, once we explained our unit could go anywhere a caravan could pitch and it was the same size a gent in the office confirmed it was okay.
The hard standing pitch was perfect and level and once set we soon relaxed, the site is very peaceful, nice size pitches and the toilets/showers could not be faulted. There is a good supply of goods in the shop and fresh bread delivered daily.
I must say that we enjoyed our time on site and did comment on how clean the site was when handing our keys back and this is a credit to the site staff.
We will definitely be returning before the year end.
A Peaceful base for a Lake District Holiday
We stayed for a week in August on this lovely peaceful site. When we arrived we had plenty of choice of where to pitch. When we left at the beginning of the bank holiday it was full. Even full this site has a calm feeling. Enough space for the kids to play. Views to the wildlife and cows in the surrounding fields and onward to the Kent estuary if you pick the right pitch. Plenty of shelter if the wind were to pick up. We used the site to visit much of the South Lakes area and it was perfect. It is easily accessible from the M6 / A 390 and it avoids towing on quite narrow roads to get to Park Coppice or similar more central sites. If you want a peaceful break with easy routes to Windermere , Coniston etc then I would recommend Meathop Fell. Not forgetting the usual no fuss caravan club welcome and spotless facilities provided by the friendly staff team. Thank you folks.. We will return.
