We stayed on this site for one week and all though we had a lovely weeks stay there are some negatives about the site. The approach road is very narrow so don’t try arriving before twelve because there are only a few passing places. Some Caravans were arriving at 10am when we were going out for the day and we had to pull over to let them past. The wardens should turn Caravans away that arrive long before twelve.
Lots more non awning pitches than awning pitches. Lots of trees so very shady in most areas and watch for tree sap and seeds sticking to caravan/ car. Not for people with mobility problems as a lot of the pitches some distance from the shower block. The best thing about the site is it’s location to the lakes.
November 2017
We stayed here for 2 nights on the way home to Scotland. if you want wifi then best find somewhere else. I tried to do some catch up work but couldn't, however that didn't affect our stay. TV reception wasn't great but that was no big deal either, I'm sure a booster would do the trick. I do like radio though..... There were far too many wifi comments in the visitors book. Its a place to relax, chat, walk, cycle and just enjoy things away from the digital stuff. We are hoping to come down again in the summer. Its a 1 hour walk to Meathop but you can reward yourself in the cafes there. The town has a great butchers shop (sorry veggies) and we came away with a fair supply. There's nothing bad to say about this site.
Don't rely on taxis or public transport.

pees and tranquillity
we have just had six nights at meathop fell and enjoyed every minuet of it. we went this time last year, it is a very relaxing site with fantastic views especially if you get down in the bottom to the left of the reception. the facility's are immaculately clean and the wardens are so very helpful and polite. i can not find anything negative to say about meathop fell at all. we will certainly be going again. we had a ride out on the saturday night with friends to the gilping bridge hotel for a meal, it was first class and not to expensive.

We stayed here, in November
The site4 is lovely and the staff are very friendly, and helpful. There is hotel just up the road, were you can get a meal and drink if you need. The access is not to bad, one Sharpe corner, but manageable.
There is lots to do in the area. the scenery is amazing.
very nice

Last minute getaway
Rather than take our caravan back to its storage after it's service we decided to visit Meathop Fell for the weekend. The site is really nice and handy for all South Lakeland beauty spots. We parked in the station at Windermere and walked up to Orrest Head where there is a wonderful view along the lake and across to the Langdale fells. The wardens were pleasant and worked hard to keep the site immaculate. We enjoyed our visit and hope to return next year.

Lives up to its great reputation
Other reviewers have said it all ....... I can only endorse their comments and satisfaction.
Go find the the best pitch for you, some are in the trees and others with estuary views and more open. Find the Wi-if pylon and the jobs a good un !
When visiting Grange turn right at the mini roundabout after the rail station and the car park is up the street on the right and has motorhome spaces and NO height barrier.
Perfect site for a quiet weekend
Enjoyed 3 quiet nights here in late September. Great walks from the site. Handy for a visit to Grange over Sands, and to Sizergh. Wardens very helpful and facilities clean and up to date.
In our Top 5
The first time we've visited Meathop Fell and it went straight into our Top 5 sites. The whole site is exceptionally well cared for and it's well situated with lots to do in the area. Things we'd recommend doing: walking into Grange over Sands - for the well kept town and the promenade with a great cafe at the end. Take the train to Silverdale and just round the corner is RSPB Leighton Moss - with free entrance if you've travelled there by train or bike(!). The cafe there is also very good. Or for a very special treat get a taxi to Cartmel and have lunch at l'enclume, a 2 Michelin starred restaurant. It's not cheap, although the lunch menu is very good value for what it is and the service is fabulous (but not stuffy). Finally the Woodlands Hotel has a good bar and food, plus they don't mind you going into the bar in your walking gear. What's not to like?

Excellent five day stay
We stayed here during a six week tour around the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Easy site to find and very helpful and welcoming wardens. Pitch was hard standing so steel pegs needed, but no real problem. Facilities looked to have been recently upgraded and were kept very clean by the wardens. Sadly the same can't be said for some other club members who need to learn how to use a toilet brush! This is becoming a common problem and not just on club sites. Also the wardens need to be stricter with regard to arrival times, particularly on this type of site with a narrow approach road. It always amazes me that people can't plan their journey times better or just feel they are superior and rules don't apply to them The site is well situated for the lakes and surrounding area, in particular I can recommend the motor museum, which is very near the site. Overall we would recommend this site to anyone wishing to visit the lakes.
Lovely quiet well laid out site
Stopped for four nights on our way back from Scotland. Very friendly welcome. The site is well laid out and well tendered. Toilet facilities were plenty and clean. Washing machine and dryer were a great benefit to us have been in Scotland for two weeks already on a cl site.
