Another excellent stay

As other reviewers have said this is an excellently laid out site with the best toilet block facilities we've encountered, CAMC - can all the shower cubicles have the same set up moving forward, immense improvement on a curtain and plastic chair for trying to keep an area dry-ish within a shower cubicle. Easy access to a vast area of the southern Lakes with plenty of places of interest near by. Note some of the pitches have quite a slope on them but all are laid out well. This was our fourth visit and won't be our last.

Another great stay

Just back from a week here at Meathop. Another lovely stay. Well kept & peaceful & quiet site. Lovely wardens. Some pitches are a little slopey but some also have stunning views. Shower/toilet facilities are immaculate. It's situated in a great location for getting around the South Lakes. This time my parents came with us & stayed in one of the apartments on site. They stayed in the Silverdale & It was a lovely & very spacious with stunning views across Morecombe Bay. The Woodlands hotel is a short walk & does lovely food or if you just fancy a drink you are made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Excellent lakes site.

Just coming to the end of our 7 night stay , excellent well kept peaceful site within easy reach of the southern lakes area & Arnside , within easy reach of the M6. Numerous places to visit & some extremely quaint villages /towns nearby , we found a really good garden centre at Beetham with cafe serving excellent food. Enjoyed a great visit to Levens Hall & Gardens today & the weather was glorious after yesterday's gloomy day with rain. All in all a well worth visit to a great site , spotlessly clean showers/toilets block & superb wardens. Please note some of the pitches are quite quirky.... but that adds to the individuality of this lovely site established in the grounds of a former TB hospital.

Peace and quiet

We visited this site again, this time in early July. We found the site in first class condition. Every aspect was perfect. Shower blocks in perfect condition and always clean. We were on a serviced pitch, again perfect. The wardens were also excellent and always available for any questions and suggestions. We will be returning again, soon.

Great for M6 stopovers and longer breaks

First visit here. Great site, helpful 'tear off' walk guides to estuary views in information hut. Key for shower blocks aids privacy from other lake district explorers. Handy hotel near by for food and drink. Reception stocked with local bacon, black pudding and bread, which are fantastic for breakfast.

Excellent Site - well placed for exploring the Lakes

We stayed at Meathop Fell in early June 2019. It's easily accessed from the M6 (15minutes tops), only the last mile to the site is single track (with passing places) which wasn't a problem with our 5th wheeler. Site access is a consideration when booking sites for us. It's a great site, large pitches in a woodland type setting, good facilities, helpful staff, a useful shop on site (we bought an aerial cable - there are aerial sockets in the electric points and we had no TV without it. Point to note - even with one there are only about a dozen channels). There were plenty of showers/washrooms/loos all very clean. Laundry facilities. Motorhome service point, handy Information Room. Meathop Fell is at the very southern tip of the Lake District. However we visited virtually the whole of the area from here over a week and didn't feel as though we were "out of the way". We can highly recommend Kendal as a pleasant and interesting town to visit and not too full of tourists. If in the area, we would definitely re-visit Meathop Fell site.

You must stay here!

A great location to explore the southern part of the Lake District. The site is very well maintained and the facilities are clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Stayed for 7 nights in May 2019. Highly recommended.

Beautiful site, well situated for west lakes, very clean facilities

We have just come back from a week at this site. Of course, the weather helped, but it was very enjoyable. The toilets etc are simply the best we have encountered in 45 years of camping/caravanning. The staff were polite & helpful. Wifi was a bit slow. Very disappointed that they have stopped getting newspapers. Is this now a C&MC policy?. Some excellent walks from nearby Grange - leaflet pack from reception. We will definitely return - but please reinstate newspapers for those of us who cannot have breakfast without their morning paper!

Lovely Site

The wardens work very hard to keep this site exceptionally clean and tidy. Unfortunately it seems that some members are unable to distinguish between rubbish and recycling giving them extra work that they don't need so come on members please give a little thought to those who have to clean up after you. We had a very enjoyable stay on this quiet site. A visit to RSPB Leighton Moss and Holker Hall which is a lovely family owned house to wander around with beautiful gardens and the scones in their cafe are a must.
