Great for M6 stopovers and longer breaks

First visit here. Great site, helpful 'tear off' walk guides to estuary views in information hut. Key for shower blocks aids privacy from other lake district explorers. Handy hotel near by for food and drink. Reception stocked with local bacon, black pudding and bread, which are fantastic for breakfast.

Excellent Site - well placed for exploring the Lakes

We stayed at Meathop Fell in early June 2019. It's easily accessed from the M6 (15minutes tops), only the last mile to the site is single track (with passing places) which wasn't a problem with our 5th wheeler. Site access is a consideration when booking sites for us. It's a great site, large pitches in a woodland type setting, good facilities, helpful staff, a useful shop on site (we bought an aerial cable - there are aerial sockets in the electric points and we had no TV without it. Point to note - even with one there are only about a dozen channels). There were plenty of showers/washrooms/loos all very clean. Laundry facilities. Motorhome service point, handy Information Room. Meathop Fell is at the very southern tip of the Lake District. However we visited virtually the whole of the area from here over a week and didn't feel as though we were "out of the way". We can highly recommend Kendal as a pleasant and interesting town to visit and not too full of tourists. If in the area, we would definitely re-visit Meathop Fell site.

You must stay here!

A great location to explore the southern part of the Lake District. The site is very well maintained and the facilities are clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Stayed for 7 nights in May 2019. Highly recommended.

Beautiful site, well situated for west lakes, very clean facilities

We have just come back from a week at this site. Of course, the weather helped, but it was very enjoyable. The toilets etc are simply the best we have encountered in 45 years of camping/caravanning. The staff were polite & helpful. Wifi was a bit slow. Very disappointed that they have stopped getting newspapers. Is this now a C&MC policy?. Some excellent walks from nearby Grange - leaflet pack from reception. We will definitely return - but please reinstate newspapers for those of us who cannot have breakfast without their morning paper!

Lovely Site

The wardens work very hard to keep this site exceptionally clean and tidy. Unfortunately it seems that some members are unable to distinguish between rubbish and recycling giving them extra work that they don't need so come on members please give a little thought to those who have to clean up after you. We had a very enjoyable stay on this quiet site. A visit to RSPB Leighton Moss and Holker Hall which is a lovely family owned house to wander around with beautiful gardens and the scones in their cafe are a must.

Meathop

Lovely peaceful site. Friendly staff and facilities always clean and tidy. Busy site but lots of toilets, washrooms and showers etc. Cycling nearby on quiet roads. However lacking in public transport. Plenty of places to visit but being motorhomers we like to use public transport if available. We had difficulty finding site entrance from main road as the sign mentioned a Woodlands hotel and restaurant and we did not see a caravan and motorhome sign.

Great site

First time at this site and what a lovely place to relax. The promenade in Grange-over-Sands is great and the butchers and local bakery are a must when in the town. The layout and toilet blocks are of high standard and some great views around the site. My only concern is the lack of attention from the wardens with people playing with footballs around the pitches and others not sticking to the CAMC policy when positioning the caravans, a simple walk around to check would of brought this to there attention. Overall a great site and would definitely recommend this site.

I can’t share this diamond site 😮

We booked a last minute cancellation and OMG did we strike lucky. Fab wardens, beautiful location and facilities and basically with the Easter sun it’s perfect. Grange over sands only a short drive away with the beautiful Harrington’s butchers, and a superb bakery. Visit Cartmel wowzer. This place is Our 101 site since 2010 and bring it on 👍xx

Lovely site, peaceful and scenic.

Booked two nights here for two motorhomes, as we were travelling with friends. We phoned in the morning to book and the warden was most accommodating, both on the phone and when we arrived, even though we were later than planned. We had a choice of pitches and had a lovely view from the window of the bay in the distance and surrounding hills. The site is spotlessly clean, very well maintained and has everything you need for a restful break. The shower and toilet blocks are warm and clean and smelt really nice. The launderette was easy to use and efficient. We would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves if in the area again. The Woodlands hotel is 5 minute walk and served a nice evening meal and welcomed dogs in the bar area.
