Very Disappointed this time

We have been visiting this site for thirty two years. It is in a site in a lovely location. Now though some people arrive at noon even though arrival time is 1pm, and are allowed on to a pitch. This is very frustrating when you have been in a queue at the requested arrival time of 1pm. I asked one of the staff why arrivals at noon were allowed onto the site, he said " to ease congestion" of which there was none until the 1pm units arrived and which were quickly and efficiently booked in. During the conversation with the member of staff on this subject he just shrugged his shoulders replaced his ear protectors and drove off, very rude. Other problems, dogs not on leads or on extended leads and being allowed to wander all over others pitches, vehicle speed on site, not following the one way direction signs. Add into the mix the fact some people seem unable to follow the very simple Covid guidance where the facilities are concerned. This all points to poor management of the Club Rules by certain members of the staff and I'm sorry to say The Club itself. If the people who can't follow simple guidance are new members then perhaps they could do a bit of simple reading of the Club handbook as well as being available on confirmation emails etc before arrival.

Clean and tidy site

This was a lovely clean and well organised site. The bathroom facilities were very clean. The only downside was that there was no footpath walking from the campsite so we walked on the quiet road to and from the bay.

Fantastic site for visiting the South Lakes

We stayed here for 5 nights immediately after lockdown was over - 2 December. We were the only unit arriving on that day, which felt a bit weird as we had the whole site to choose a pitch - never happened before and will probably never happen again. The wardens were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. As we were pitching our motor mover failed and our caravan was stranded half on the road, half on the pitch. The wardens saw our dilemma and came over to us straight away and helped us get the caravan on the pitch. During lockdown the wardens have created a large, secure dog walking area which we couldn't wait to use. Our 4 dogs absolutely loved it with enough space for them to have a good run - they're whippets and whippet lurchers so like a good, fast run. This is definitely a bonus for staying at Meathop Fell. We visited the Grand Cumbria Hotel in Grange over Sands for afternoon tea, which was very enjoyable and well worth a visit. Grange over Sands itself is a lovely little town with some great shops. There is also a fantastic promenade you can walk along. It has a really nice atmosphere and a friendly vibe about it. We decided to travel further afield, to catch some snow, and visited the standing stones at Castlerigg, just outside of Keswick. The was about 4 inches of snow which added to our lovely stay in the Lakes. Can't wait to return to Meathop Fell.

First stay at Meathop Fell and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had a lovely relaxing stay at Meathop Fell. We managed to get a nice pitch which was not overlooked, although most pitches were a good size. The site is on a slope so some leveling up was needed. Facilities were nice and clean and covid safe. The Staff had a little shop on site for essentials which was a bonus as not offered at other sites. The site is nice and quiet, which we like. We walked in to Grange which is 2 miles along a relatively quiet country road and spent sometime walking around the shops. Grange has a nice promenade with lovely views across Morecambe Bay and a variety of Cafe's. Access to the site did surprise me as there was a steep and quite narrow hill to drive up just before entering the site but as we did not meet another vehicle coming our way we arrived at our destination without any issues. Will definitely return to the site to explore the area more.

Lovely peaceful visit!

Our second visit to Meathop Fell in mid October. Warm welcome at reception and found a pitch just where we wanted to be. Unfortunately after unhitching, my husband forgot to undo the brake cable and as he pulled the car away it snapped. He went to reception to ask where we might buy a replacement, and within minutes Neil, one of the wardens came down not only with a replacement but fitted it for us. We had been anticipating a trip to Ulverston to buy one and were worried about fitting it ourselves, so this was a wonderful gesture. This sort of kindness by the wardens is much appreciated. The facilities were all spotless. Each wristband had the pitch number written on, so everyone took their own away with them after showering or using the loo. The site was very busy, yet was always peaceful. With little light pollution the skies were wonderful at night. We had a power cut one evening for around 4 hours which affected a large area of Grange over Sands, and a notice was quickly put up in the reception window explaining how long long the power may be off. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and will be returning next October. Many thanks to all the wardens for their help and cheerfulness.

enjoyed stay

we planned for nearly 12 months to come to meathop fell c&mc site, we was not disappointed, its our kind of site, we booked a service pitch and used our own facilities on board our caravan, we prefer to do so, there is no point in booking a service pitch if your going to use on site facilities. I know that I have given the site full stars for family facilities I think families with children might find it a bit inadequate, children would probably need off site entertainment, for that you would have to drive as there is nothing really within walking distance, for us its perfect, walking on and around the site area with our dogs was great, there is a secure fenced dog area on site, we had more fun taking dogs out of site and for short drive to other area's like Grange where there is a small lake to walk around and promenade to walk along, we found the staff very helpful and friendly, we all kept our social distance from the staff and other visitors to site, we have already booked to come back in 2021 ( covid permitting) the site is very well looked after by the staff, cannot say about shower block as we didn't use them, We are looking forward to our next visit to meathop fell.

Long Weekend stay....

We arrived late afternoon after a stopover at Lakeland Motor Museum & welcomed with a smile. We had booked 'without awning' as that was what was available at the time & I asked if anything became available if they would let us know. By early evening we were told if we wanted to move to any alternative pitch that had become available due to cancellations then to do so & advise us (the wardens) in the morning. Lovely clean site & facilities, friendly & helpful staff, just a little remote for us as my wife cannot walk too far..... Thank you for being so accommodating.

Level Headed

We stayed here, the last site on our latest tour, We were very impressed by the site except so few of the remaining pitches were level. That is a minor gripe but a niggle for motorhomes. Some units looked precariously perched on ramps and levellers. Given the location and terrain the wifi and TV are remarkably good. The views over the estuary are spectacular. walks around the site, especialy to Grange Over Sands are beautiful. The facilities at this site are worth mentioning. They are very smart and kept spotlessly clean by a friendly, hard working staff. As with all the club sites we felt very comfortable and safe here.

Perfect Trip

Third time at this site, and first after lockdown. The site felt very safe, and the other visitors were all respectful. The wardens provided excellent service, particularly the gentleman who helped with positioning our aerial to get the best reception, in what is a notoriously tricky area. Additionally, the weather was perfect, with some glorious sunshine, showing the Lakes off at their best. What more could you want?
