Location and views are hard to beat

Despite the offering of so many things to do nearby this site, it would be quite easy just to sit looking at the loch and mountains which constantly change with changes in light and cloud....simply stunning. We were blessed with excellent weather on the whole, but despite this pesky midges made only limited appearances. The only slight downside as mentioned by others is the aged and struggling shower block. Two of the showers were backing up when we were there, and when mentioned to the warden we were told it was due to the age of the building and infrastructure and little could be done. Given this site is one of the "jewels in the Club's crown" in terms of views and location, and popularity with members, it is now long overdue a significant refresh of the facilities and any infrastructure issues that exist. That would lift it from extremely good to outstanding in my view.

Very helpful staff

We arrived and the weather was beautiful. The site is in a beautiful location and has stunning views. Facilities were dated, but they were clean. Nice walk to roam west where there is a pub that also serves food (didn’t eat there though). We got the bus into fort William, the buses do not run regularly, but it was a pleasant journey. If you have dogs you must catch the N44 and dogs travel free. We decided to leave a day early to break up the journey home. When I handed the fob back to the staff they asked if we were stopping at a club site as they could transfer my booking. The staff did everything to find a site and transfer my night and could not of been more helpful. The only downside to the site is not having a shop so go fully prepared.

Nice site and the ‘facilities’ are fine!

Stayed for the first time and after reading the reviews expected awful (tired and shabby) toilet block! To my surprise they were very clean and fully functional - maybe not decorated to my taste😂 but modern WCs, sinks and taps and showers….. some people obviously think these need to be decorated like a boutique hotel or something, but they are fine! - it’s the views outside you are paying for!

Lovely peaceful club site

Second time we have stayed on this lovely loch side site. The views are fantastic. The facilities are clean and more than adequate...although I agree with others that the toilet/shower block could do with refurbishing. I do strongly feel that wifi should be free on sites to members...as most private sites are now supplying free wifi. The first time we stayed we took the ferry, walked around the ponds in woodland on the opposite shore, and went to the pub by the ferry. The wardens in site are helpful and friendly. This site was however the most expensive that we stayed on, including private sites while touring Scotland and the isle of Skye.

Storm Betty

It’s not the site’s fault but unfortunately we had a front pitch when storm Betty hit and as we were on the front row we took the full blast of that storm and it continued to be atrocious weather for the duration of our stay! On the day of our arrival it was calm sunny and warm and the views were absolutely amazing we were so happy to have such a lovely pitch, it all changed overnight. The weather then dominated our holiday and obviously changed our plans and sadly our opinion of Scotland. Regarding the site the female wardens were very nice and friendly but the showers are very poor, they really need updating especially for the price you pay per night. It’s also a long way from the supermarket but the position of the site for views and tranquility is second to none, just a shame about the weather, showers and price.

Good site

Love this site. Third visit. One thing I was annoyed about was the pitch next door, leaving so early. I was woken up around 4.30 am by then packing away. Tbf they were trying to be quiet, but it didn’t help, and I now have a long drive ahead of me also later on for which I’m going to be knackered for. I don’t think people should be allowed to leave at this time, I thought the barriers only worked between certain times.

Fantastic location on the Loch but no amenities in the vicinity

Fabulous location on the Loch, facilities very clean but a bit dated. WIFI hotspot only ...staff lovely. Didn't even know it had a shop! Locally other than walks ...not alot. Local eatery said open on Google it was closed. The nice pub over-the-Loch would have been nice, we walked to the ferry terminal onlybto find out not running......its 30 plus miles around. So a bit disappointed we couldn't get out for a meal but the location on the water was incredible

Fabulous location

A really fantastic location - right by the Loch. Could not get better. Staff helpful. The only thing that let it down was the shabby toilet block. It would be fine but because of the high cost of staying here, you would expect better.

Great location but tired facilities

I stayed at Bunree for a week in July, the staff are great and very helpful, the site grounds itself are very tidy. The area is a great base with plenty to do around. My only issue is the state of the toilet block, this is very tired (although clean) and puts me off returning to this site especially considering the price it costs to stay here compared to private sites in the area.

Tired facilities for premium price.

We've been coming to Bunree for 10 years and have thoroughly enjoyed staying here. However, for a flagship site charging premium rates, the toilet block facilities are now tired and worn out despite wardens doing a good job keeping them clean. The CAMC says the new booking system allows for flexibility to swap sites after you have booked, but if you do amend your booking (as we did by adding a night at Bunree and reducing a night at Maragowan), you are likely to pay an increased price for both sites since they are classed as new bookings at the latest rate. In Bunree's case the price may have gone up if demand is high and the site is near capacity. Also no amendments could be made by ourselves and had to be done by the wardens.
