Good site

Love this site. Third visit. One thing I was annoyed about was the pitch next door, leaving so early. I was woken up around 4.30 am by then packing away. Tbf they were trying to be quiet, but it didn’t help, and I now have a long drive ahead of me also later on for which I’m going to be knackered for. I don’t think people should be allowed to leave at this time, I thought the barriers only worked between certain times.

Fantastic location on the Loch but no amenities in the vicinity

Fabulous location on the Loch, facilities very clean but a bit dated. WIFI hotspot only ...staff lovely. Didn't even know it had a shop! Locally other than walks ...not alot. Local eatery said open on Google it was closed. The nice pub over-the-Loch would have been nice, we walked to the ferry terminal onlybto find out not running......its 30 plus miles around. So a bit disappointed we couldn't get out for a meal but the location on the water was incredible

Fabulous location

A really fantastic location - right by the Loch. Could not get better. Staff helpful. The only thing that let it down was the shabby toilet block. It would be fine but because of the high cost of staying here, you would expect better.

Great location but tired facilities

I stayed at Bunree for a week in July, the staff are great and very helpful, the site grounds itself are very tidy. The area is a great base with plenty to do around. My only issue is the state of the toilet block, this is very tired (although clean) and puts me off returning to this site especially considering the price it costs to stay here compared to private sites in the area.

Tired facilities for premium price.

We've been coming to Bunree for 10 years and have thoroughly enjoyed staying here. However, for a flagship site charging premium rates, the toilet block facilities are now tired and worn out despite wardens doing a good job keeping them clean. The CAMC says the new booking system allows for flexibility to swap sites after you have booked, but if you do amend your booking (as we did by adding a night at Bunree and reducing a night at Maragowan), you are likely to pay an increased price for both sites since they are classed as new bookings at the latest rate. In Bunree's case the price may have gone up if demand is high and the site is near capacity. Also no amendments could be made by ourselves and had to be done by the wardens.

A beautiful location

We stayed here in June and absolutely loved this site. We were fortunate to get a pitch right on the shore and it was stunning. This is a great area for walking and I would highly recommend the Cow Hill walk just outside Fortwilliam (park at the Braveheart Car Park). We had read many mixed reviews of the site facilities and as this was our first visit, we really didn't know what to expect on arrival. The wardens do an amazing job at keeping the facilities block spotless and in good working order, however, there is no question that a refurbishment is required. We certainly are looking forward to returning in the future!

Doggy Heaven

What a beautiful site! Pippa and Cilla (Golden Retrievers) absolutely loved it! Pippa swam morning and evening (given the chance would have stayed in all day!) It was extremely hot, but near the loch on the benches there was a lovely breeze and less midges. Spotlessly clean facilities, the bin areas were checked/emptied twice daily, friendly staff, very friendly midges! Good location for Fort William and Oban, plus touring around. Fabulous!

Disappointed

Having driven from Devon we were somewhat disappointed with Bunree, having read the positive reviews. The view from the site is undeniably fabulous but the facilities are shocking. Worn, tired, damaged and dated. The chemical toilet facility is appalling. It was the main topic of many others on the site. The facilities are by far the worst we have experienced on the network. The site shop is poorly stocked and there are no nearby shops. WiFi only near the reception not that we need it. We did enjoy touring around the area, which is stunningly beautiful and it’s a good base. This was the most expensive site on our tour and now I understand why many members are not renewing their membership. Independent sites have raised their game and are usually much cheaper. We joined the caravan club to be assured of certain standards, unfortunately this is no longer the case. NB Leaving the site , joining the main road, there is a sign restricting the view to your left . Be careful pulling out.

What a landmark site

Set in a wonderful location on the shores of Loch Linnhe, just south of Corran ferry, lies Bunree. Whatever pitch you happen to end up on, you have got views of the mountains, the Loch and the stunning scenery that is a feature of this area. Once again, as is customary at club sites, a lovely warm welcome from the site staff on arrival, with plenty of pitches to choose, and all well maintained. We felt the peace and tranquility from the moment we set up. Prior to arrival some of the recent reviews were critical regarding the condition of the amenities block. I have to say overall there was no problem whatsoever, they were well maintained and were spotlessly clean. What a credit to the dedicated site staff. However, that being said I would also say that they are in need of some TLC and wondered whether that may feature in the not too distant future as part of the clubs overall site refurbishment program, especially as every night we were there in the first week in May it was almost full every night. Having lived in Fort William in the early 60s, It was a bit more of my down memory lane tour. I have to say that we took time out to visit Oban, Glencoe first, then a bit further north to Glenfinnan and onwards to Mallaig as well as around Fort William itself. The area is a haven for walkers and climbers. There’s plenty of off-road cycle tracks and trails available too, although I have reservations about anyone trying to cycle along the very busy main road from the site into Fort William. Unfortunately the car ferry at Corran was suspended whilst we were there so unable to get over to explore the remote areas on the other side of the Loch. Overall I can’t find any fault with the site, the way it’s run, the way it is organised, and given the opportunity, I hope this will not be my last visit to this particular location

Our dream site

Bunree is just the site we hoped for. From the scenic drive through Glencoe to the babbling stream along the entry road and finally the pitches with Loch view. We had blue skies to set it off and watched a perfect sunset. Easy access to the main road enabled us to visit Glenfinnan Viaduct (Harry Potter and Arisaig & Mallaig during our 1 day there. Site managers really helpful with loval advice and suggestions of where to call in on our onward journey. We will definitely return.
