This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

Have a look at Trading Standards on the Citizens Advice web site. The CC appear to have offered you something that they were not prepared to honour and for reasons not included in their terms and conditions.

Does that mean that if I want to send 14 nights at a site, but the weekend has been booked up they can cancel the two night booking so that I can have my 14 nights?

I don't know, but it sounds like it doesn't it?

Under their own terms they can only cancel a booking if there is a problem to be solved that is beyond their reasonable control.  This does not appear to have been the case so they are in breach of the contractual arrangement.

Write your comments here. Exactly, so what to do now??

Email and tell them you will sue for breach of contract and discrimination.

The biggest shock here(with respect to Vivien) is the breach of trust. As has been said by many when anyone sets off they need to believe & have faith that the actual space they have booked will be supplied & is going to be there for them. The loss of trust could prove to be costly.

Above inflation price rises, involvment in dubious television programs and now this,it seems the club really is losing touch with its members.

OK fans, after a 50 minute phone call, both myself and Mr Horton have discussed in depth the nature of the cancellation.

We agree to disagree on some of the problems, but, I still feel it best to advise you all, NO booking is 100% safe. Cancellations made by the CC should be for genuine unforeseen circumstance and discrimination wil notl be present.

There still seems to me to have booking flaws as to whom gets cancelled and who doesn't, Mr Horton and myself will never agree on that argument.

To end, all I can suggest is if a holiday is important, check constantly with the site to make sure there is no reason for your booking to be cancelled. If it is,then contact the CCHQ and don't give up easily!

Vivien - what you have described and experienced is more in keeping with a third-rate, back-street operation than what one would expect from a supposedly prestigious organisation.  Quite frankly, I am appalled.

I am booked into Broadway for overnight stops on the way down to Devon and back, later in the year and I am now going to pester the wardens with phone calls seeking confirmation that my booking is still valid - right up to my arrival time.  I wonder if we all did that, someone would get the message?
