This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

....The OP posted transcripts that she claims are the clubs position...........that's a very different thing.

So Vivien is making it up? Undecided

I'm sorry but how on earth has Viv been suspended?

Its in the T&Cs .....

Deletion and suspension of access process

  1. We will delete posts where we feel appropriate.
  2. If we feel a person has contravened our guidelines we will contact the person to advise and, depending on the situation, we may decide to suspend their website access without prior warning.
  3. If we have contacted the person previously to ask them to abide by the guidelines and they ignore our advice and continue to post in a way that contravenes guidelines, it may result in their account being locked for 3 months. If they are a member of The Caravan Club this will mean they will not be able to access their online account for this time period or any of the services associated with the online account. This may apply to the account they are using as well as any joint, lead or family accounts associated to the membership, so please make sure you follow the guidelines.
  4. Once the person's online account has been unlocked, if they continue to deliberately cause offence, disrupt the community, create disharmony and/or be abusive to other people on Club Together, The Caravan Club will review the person's membership and appropriate action will be taken.
  5. If a person re-registers on the community as a non-member when their account has been suspended we will take this very seriously and again will review the person's membership and appropriate action will be taken.
  6. When suspended users re-register as a non-member this can prevent the Community Team from carrying out their day-to-day duties, which is essential for the smooth running of the community.
  7. This may also cause distress to other users of Club Together and as such we may report such offenders to their ISP. If their actions breach the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or any other relevant criminal legislation we will also report offenders to the relevant authorities, including the police.

We may also temporarily lock a person's website account pending review. This may be during the weekend so we can review actions on the next available working day or because we need time to analyse your previous postings during your time on Club Together. This may result in your access being unlocked following the review and we will advise you of further actions at the first opportunity.

Please note the decision to lock a user's access to The Caravan Club website rests with The Caravan Club and its decision is final.

The treatment of this member by the CC has been disgraceful and the aggrieved posts on here have been understandable. Whilst they have been critical of the CC, suspension of membership privileges appears, in the absence, as far as I can see, of any breach of T&C to be a vindictive attempt at silencing exposure of their shortcomings. Given the Orwellian workings of this organisation, I will not be surprised to see this post "vanish".

MM....just for yours and others information...Viv did not "organise" the Black Knowl meeting. See the Solo section and the original post on 4th January 2016.

But Gary.....we would more than welcome hearing the 'other side' of the argument, from the CC.......but they seem to be reticent to provide a response. Not unusual and this perhaps tells you something.

Ian, yes I can understand the desire from members to have the CC management posting on here but they clearly have taken the decision not to enter into dialogue via these forums. In one way I can understand that decision as you can imagine how these discussions might turn out!

I have sent then an email asking for clarification, before I book my long summer break. If a reply is not forthcoming soon then the CC&C and commercial site will have to have my bookings.

Relax please. Choose your sites as and how you wish - Club sites, commercial sites or private sites - but if there is an earthquake, fire or flood then any one of them may have to cancel you. Equally if you yourself  fall injured, become ill, or your car breaks down, then you too may have to cancel. You cannot promise not to cancel and nor can they. There are no guarantees in life. Enjoy your holiday.

I will think twice about posting on here in future. I did realise that you could be suspended from the CT part of the web but have only just realised that it would be all of the CC pages, including being able to book etc. I know that I have never written anything nasty about another member on here, but I, like many others, have been critical of the CC at times. Now not sure what I can and cannot say. All of this does seem like a gagging thing by the CC, they want a forum but only if we all talk about caravan mechanical problems or 'what we have done today' or if we all agree with everything they do. Don't think I will bother much on here in future. Can see now why so many originals have stopped posting.

It may be that the club have a duty of confidentiality over vivien's situation and so cannot post any details on this forum about her particular case.

It must have also caused them some concern that a thread has been created that has become a witch hunt against the club and the staff who work there and designed to put other members off using the club when the aim of the club is to give all its members the best quality service that is possible.

This forum is perhaps not intended to be used as a means of naming and railing against particular members of staff who are just trying to do a difficult job in the best possible way.

However that just seems to be the case with the club, running a witch hunt on one of it's members who has "dared" to question another of it's dubious decisions.

Write your comments here...The postings on here are not simply questioning the club's decision. They are causing damage to the club by aiming to put people off booking with the club by saying that their bookings are not safe. That looks to me like over-stepping the mark.

No member of this forum need fear suspension of their account if they abide by the T&C's and Guidelines of the Forum. There is also no issue with robust debate on subjects that question the running of the Caravan Club, if that had been the reality dozens, if not hundreds, of people would have been suspended by now!!! The problem occurs when people make it personal  either to other members of the forum or to Club officials and start bandying comments around that verge of outright rudness and character assassination of individuals. People who result to such tactics immediately lose the argument anyway so a more intelligent approach is often much more productive.

Clearly if an individual is suspended that is a matter between them and the Club not something to be discussed on the forum.
