This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

It should still be "last in, first out" as that is the only equitable way. Anything else is discriminatory.

would it be as simple as that? If they were, let's say non awning pitches effected, then it may not be the last booked, it would be the last booking the non awnings! If it was a site with limited long vehicle pitches and these were the ones effected it too would have to be the last large vehicles booked! And so the complications go on! The calls, for example, of discrimination against those with non awnings, those with longest units etc will be heard!

Having read through this thread intermittently and now catching up, I have to say that I am shocked that a member can be 'suspended' for speaking her mind on a very relevant topic.

I am also dismayed (but no longer shocked) that the CC have provided no explanation of this apparant unofficial change to their bookings policy. The only comment from the CC representative has been a vague comment and veiled warning to other posters.

All rather pathetic and somewhat disturbing to find that, as a 'mere couple' we are apparantly now at risk of having our long term bookings cancelled if a better offer comes along.

All very poor.......

Write your comments here...It's probably a similar situation to Sunday depatures, Oneputt. >>Decisions are made with warden's discretion<<<. The wardens know the conditions of their site as they are there to see what pitches can be made available and deal accordingly.

I appreciate what you are sayin Malcolm but it does appear that the clubs policy on cancelations is far from clear. From what Rochelle says they look at the last bookings, the length of bookings and the occupancy of bookings and cobble together something from that.

I think we all know that sometimes circumstances beyond the clubs control do mean cancellations are unavoidable. What we want is an open and fair system rather than this mess. >>>Frankly the fairest way is you simply cancel the most recent bookings<<< which is fair and easily understood. The current system will always produce disgruntled members and lead to>>> accusations of bias<<< which may not in fact be true.

Having kept up to speed with this post and all the mitigating circumstances, pro's and cons, etc. one question springs to my nasty suspicious mind.....Did the warden know the family that were awarded Viv's pitch and in doing so show favouritism to them???......I am not throwing any accusation's about, merely stating a suspicion, after all it has been known for wardens to "reserve " pitches for friends on sites, going by what has previously been posted on CT. In this instance, if that is what happened, it has sadly back fired. We will never know  though will we???....Cool

Were they employees of the CC, even?

There do appear some interesting behaviours exhibited by CC body corporate that are anchored in the past in respect of RHIP Tongue Out

Having read through this whole thread I feel the OP's reaction was completely OTT. Things go wrong, bookings do (rarely) get cancelled. It happens........airlines do it, hotels do it, even our beloved NHS does it! Annoying, frustrating, disappointing it may be but you need to put things in perspective! Many here have jumped to conclusions in support of the OP having only heard one side of the story! Some of the comments made by the OP were quite threatening so can fully understand the suspension! Sad

But Gary.....we would more than welcome hearing the 'other side' of the argument, from the CC.......but they seem to be reticent to provide a response. Not unusual and this perhaps tells you something.

Ian, yes I can understand the desire from members to have the CC management posting on here but they clearly have taken the decision not to enter into dialogue via these forums. In one way I can understand that decision as you can imagine how these discussions might turn out!

The OP has posted up several transcripts which indicate the clubs position so it's hardly one sided.

I doubt that the CC thought their original excuse would be rumbled as a 'fib'. As Vivien had organised a Solo meet she attended the site anyway to meet the other Solos. Most other times, if a booking had been cancelled by the CC, the member would have just gone elsewhere & not had the need or want to check on the site.

The OP posted transcripts that she claims are the clubs position...........that's a very different thing.
