CLOSED - Your bookings are not safe

This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

I wonder if previous history has got in the way of the central point here!  That point is what is the CC's policy when they have to make cancellations and do they ever ignore their own policy?

Write your comments here...It's probably a similar situation to Sunday depatures, Oneputt. Decisions are made with warden's discretion. The wardens know the conditions of their site as they are there to see what pitches can be made available and deal accordingly.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of this particular case, in my opinion social media should not be used to sort out disputes of this kind. It is grossly unfair to both the CC who are bound by data protection regs and wardens, who have to abide by employment conditions, and are therefore unable to fully give their side of the story. The correct approach would have been a formal letter of complaint.

Write your comments here...I wholeheartedly agree, Steve. The circumstances of this particular case would probably not apply or affect the vast majority of members and so it seems a bit unfair to the club to try to put members off booking pitches by making them afraid that their booking might get cancelled. What if the club pursued a damages claim against vivien for false representation and lost business as a result of members being potentially put off making bookings?

Hi everyone,

Could I ask that we please stay on topic in this thread, as a few of the comments here are speculating over another member’s current status on Club Together. Situations like this are confidential and have the potential to upset others on the forum.

Thank you

Can you please clarify your remark above regarding upsetting others on the forum as it appears Vivien is no longer with us for whatever reason?

I appreciate what you are sayin Malcolm but it does appear that the clubs policy on cancelations is far from clear. From what Rochelle says they look at the last bookings, the length of bookings and the occupancy of bookings and cobble together something from that.

I think we all know that sometimes circumstances beyond the clubs control do mean cancellations are unavoidable. What we want is an open and fair system rather than this mess. Frankly the fairest way is you simply cancel the most recent bookings which is fair and easily understood. The current system will always produce disgruntled members and lead to accusations of bias which may not in fact be true.

Having kept up to speed with this post and all the mitigating circumstances, pro's and cons, etc. one question springs to my nasty suspicious mind.....Did the warden know the family that were awarded Viv's pitch and in doing so show favouritism to them???......I am not throwing any accusation's about, merely stating a suspicion, after all it has been known for wardens to "reserve " pitches for friends on sites, going by what has previously been posted on CT. In this instance, if that is what happened, it has sadly back fired. We will never know  though will we???....Cool

It may be that the club have a duty of confidentiality over vivien's situation and so cannot post any details on this forum about her particular case.

It must have also caused them some concern that a thread has been created that has become a witch hunt against the club and the staff who work there and designed to put other members off using the club when the aim of the club is to give all its members the best quality service that is possible.

This forum is perhaps not intended to be used as a means of naming and railing against particular members of staff who are just trying to do a difficult job in the best possible way.

However that just seems to be the case with the club, running a witch hunt on one of it's members who has "dared" to question another of it's dubious decisions.

It should still be "last in, first out" as that is the only equitable way. Anything else is discriminatory.

Write your comments here...I doubt that the club intended to discriminate against any one particular individual, CY. If anything, they have acted in favour of vivien by giving her three free site night vouchers. So why can't she appreciate their kind gesture instead of trying to create disharmony and fear amongst other members by saying their bookings are not safe and continuing to maintain such a theme when the club have probably gone overboard in trying to appease her.

Surely this is a sign of guilt on the part of the club?
