This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

I have read a few of the last posts and amazes me that some members thinks it's a witch hunt for the club, I agree you have an opinion but I would hate to plan a tour of say Scotland or Northen England only to be told that pitch unavailable due to flooding, ok panic but these things happen, find somewhere else quickly. Then realise that some pitches were floodded but because we are only 2 for 5 nights we were cancelled because a family was staying for 6 nights. Is that a witch hunt? no that's a worry. I never thought the club would do this, so I thank the member for bringing it to our attention. I have emailed CC asking for clarification and am STILL waiting for a reply. Maybe for those who never or hardly venture far in their vans are not concerned.

It should still be "last in, first out" as that is the only equitable way. Anything else is discriminatory.

Write your comments here...I doubt that the club intended to discriminate against any one particular individual, CY. If anything, they have acted in favour of vivien by giving her three free site night vouchers. So why can't she appreciate their kind gesture instead of trying to create disharmony and fear amongst other members by saying their bookings are not safe and continuing to maintain such a theme when the club have probably gone overboard in trying to appease her.

Write your comments here...Have you read the reply sent, and surely the vouchers was as a sorry we got it wrong, what would you have done Malcolm if when you next move to a site that they tell you that your booking has been canceled.

I've been to two or three flooded sites in other places and under other management -  we just parked along the roadways. Is that too revolutionary for this Club?

Amazing!  People defending the indefensible!  It should never have happened in the first place!

Write your comments here...What happened, happened for reasons unknown to us because the club are trying not to breach confidentality about one particular member. Most of us would have accepted the club's decision and found another venue. Last November, I applied for a seasonal pitch at Northbrook Farm which would have enabled me to park the caravan there for the entire season at a much lower cost. I was unsuccessful and so accepted the decision and have arranged alternative places to stay in order to comply with the 21 day rule. So why does vivien insist on upsetting other members by shouting so loud about her particular situation which is between her and the club and nothing to do with the rest of us?

. . . until it happens to oneself!

What does applying for a seasonal pitch and being kicked off the pitch already booked to allow someone staying 3 nights longer have in common ?

The CC treated Vivien ( a member of the club) disgracefully and she has every reason to shout loud. If this is the way the club want to run their business then next time it could be anyone here who suffers.

Write your comments here...It did happen to me, Cariadon, when I was refused a seasonal pitch,  but I didn't accuse the club of discriminating against me in favour of another member who did get that seasonal pitch. I accepted their decision and complied with it. It just meant having to make alternative arrangements according to the market choice that was available to me.

So you are saying you were 'gazumped' Malcolm, someone who now has a seasonal pitch should not have because you were ahead of them in the queue!

..... and you call that fair.

It nearly did happen to me on another occasion when I was booked in at Gatwick Club site in the winter and there was heavy rain and flooding, luckily the rain eventually stopped and the pitch started to dry out so that I was allowed to stay. However, there were other members, intended new arrivals that wanted to arrive and were turned away because of the flooding.

So again nothing like the situation Viv encountered.........
