This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

.It did happen to me, Cariadon, when I was refused a seasonal pitch

So you are saying you were 'gazumped' Malcolm, someone who now has a seasonal pitch should not have because you were ahead of them in the queue!

..... and you call that fair.

Write your comments here...I was always told that the demand for seasonal pitches on Northbrook Farm far outstripped the supply and to be awarded one was like trying to win the lottery. That the names were drawn out of a hat and that you had to be lucky to get one. If you were unlucky, you would go on the waiting list and one would be offered if there were sufficient cancellations. So I guess I'm still on the waiting list!

Make up your mind Malcolm, you were either 'gazumped' as in the topic being discussed here, or you were not, in which case your point has no relevence.

If names are drawn out of a hat, that is a different kettle of fish, nothing to do with 'last in first out'.

It nearly did happen to me on another occasion when I was booked in at Gatwick Club site in the winter and there was heavy rain and flooding, luckily the rain eventually stopped and the pitch started to dry out so that I was allowed to stay. However, there were other members, intended new arrivals that wanted to arrive and were turned away because of the flooding.

So again nothing like the situation Viv encountered.........

Write your comments here...Probably similar to vivien's situation with the exception that the affected members are not venting their discontent on here!

Write your comments here...I wouldn't know, Davefl2, whether or not I was gazumped but, unlike vivien, I didn't go into a detailed investigation of it with the intention of discrediting the club. She has not done herself any favours by acting in such a provocative way against the club and thereby getting herself suspended from the forum.

Now I'm in partial agreement with you Malcolm Smile Two points, it should have been 'last in first out,' and the second is that the member being discussed gave too much information of which a lot of it should have remained personal between the club and herself. Much like what you post about your job and tax issues in General chat, some things are best kept private

Amazing!  People defending the indefensible!  It should never have happened in the first place!

Write your comments here...What happened, happened for reasons unknown to us because the club are trying not to breach confidentality about one particular member. Most of us would have accepted the club's decision and found another venue. Last November, I applied for a seasonal pitch at Northbrook Farm which would have enabled me to park the caravan there for the entire season at a much lower cost. I was unsuccessful and so accepted the decision and have arranged alternative places to stay in order to comply with the 21 day rule. So why does vivien insist on upsetting other members by shouting so loud about her particular situation which is between her and the club and nothing to do with the rest of us?

What does applying for a seasonal pitch and being kicked off the pitch already booked to allow someone staying 3 nights longer have in common ?

The CC treated Vivien ( a member of the club) disgracefully and she has every reason to shout loud. If this is the way the club want to run their business then next time it could be anyone here who suffers.

Write your comments here...I doubt that the club had any intention of acting disgracefully and the fact that they gave vivien three free site night vouchers showed a gesture of goodwill and generosity. On sites that charge £30 per night, thats like giving away to vivien, £90. That can hardly be described as a disgrace, can it?

Do you really think it's appropriate for her to continue to make vicious attacks against the club when they have probably bent over backwards to help her?

I wonder if previous history has got in the way of the central point here!  That point is what is the CC's policy when they have to make cancellations and do they ever ignore their own policy?

Whatever the rights or wrongs of this particular case, in my opinion social media should not be used to sort out disputes of this kind. It is grossly unfair to both the CC who are bound by data protection regs and wardens, who have to abide by employment conditions, and are therefore unable to fully give their side of the story. The correct approach would have been a formal letter of complaint.

They broke their own t&c's so yes they chose to act disgracefully.

I wonder if they would have offered the gesture if Viv had not rightly kicked off.

Yes I do think it's appropriate as the club put themselves in the position to receive criticism.

Hi everyone,

Could I ask that we please stay on topic in this thread, as a few of the comments here are speculating over another member’s current status on Club Together. Situations like this are confidential and have the potential to upset others on the forum.

Thank you
