This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

It would appear that despite the booking terms CC Ltd is prepared to cancel a booking for their convenience and on the filmiest of excuses.   I have no wish to drive many miles only to be told our booking has been cancelled.  In future therefore, even with a confirmed booking, I shall call to check that it is still okay the day before my departure.

Isn't it fact that we have to give 72 hours notice if you are cancelling a visit to a CC site.  I am so glad we cancelled all our bookings thsi year opting for commercial and CL sites.  Less worry and stress!

Did they say why they had to cancel your booking?

Write your comments here... I was dealt lies, they have apologised for the way its been handled, but as per my first post on this thread, cancelled my pitch so others that basically with larger families can make more money for the site.

Profit before members ! this is NOT acceptable..................

Write your comments here...And when I rang HQ booking service and spoke to someone about it, they said they take a dim view of this, non profit organisation, and it is not CC policy to cancel bookings to accommodate bigger or longer bookings. As Jayess says, shoddy

''lets put into perspective that these cancellations will only occur in exceptional circumstances''

Really? Then why were we told when we ran an RV that we had to phone the day before for every booking, just to check they would accept us?  We were not over any of the sites maximum lengths so its not because it was an outsize outfit. Also told once when we arrived at 12 that if we had arrived at 4 the same day we would have been turned away.  Apparantly wardens can do that, cancel a valid booking for anyone they like!!

perhaps its anyone they don't like?Wink

perhaps they do have a further checking process with RVs?

perhaps they want to double check the vehicle size and discuss any access issues....?

weve never had to ring ahead of every booking so i guess its RV related.....do you have to do this now you dont have the RV?

No we dont.  The caravan is a whole 23cm shorter than the RV, but of course once it is attached to a big tow car it is way bigger so any access issues there might have been are far more likely to occur now than they did then, Plus the RV had wheels closer to the middle, so could overhang at the back of a pitch easily without taking the wheels off the hardstand where the caravan has legs at the back so cant do that.  It was just another CC random policy.

it may not be random, it may apply to other RV owners.

are there any out there who can describe the booking process and any extra checks they are subject to due to RV ownership?

The problem is while a site may have a size limit e.g.9 meters it is not  every pitch that can accommodate this and the size of the outfit then becomes important as to where it will fit. It is not only RVs this applies to  it can also apply to large twin axle caravans and large European vans. IF you have completed yor profile information fully giving the size of your van and ETA then there should not be a problem.

...provided that somebody reads it......Undecided

its like these automated help lines...

"..please enter your account number to help us get you to the right person to help you....."

"hello, thanks for calling the helpline, whats your account number.....?"

DOH!

Why hasn't a bookings champion appeared on here and advised us what the score/circumstrances are when a site decides to cancel someone's booking.  Rowena put a list of internal club champions in the introduction sections and most, not all, are never heard of again.  Most of the hassles that arise on CT could be resolved by the timely intervention of our CC champions

Everything was completed on the form.  On the registration section I also wrote RV then the reg.  Most of the sites had plenty of pitches that would easily accomodate and most didnt cone off a pitch for us.  Some did.

However lets not get sidetracked onto the RV issue - its the fact that the CC dont see fit to honour all the bookings that are correctly made that is the problem here.

One wonders at the exact nature of their role. Doesn't one, One?Laughing
