A lovely, peaceful site

We had a lovely stay on this site, despite the terrible weather. The wardens were welcoming, the shower  block was modern and spotlessly clean and it was beautifully quiet in the evenings. We will definitely return and hope for the weather that the area deserves!

Our dogs didn't like this site

This is a very nice site and is very well located to visit some lovely towns and beaches. The site itself is not too big with a new central block housing all the quality facilities you would expect of a Caravan Club site and the wardens were friendly and helpful. The hard standings were well spaced and level. The grass pitches mostly seemed to have a bit of a slope but nothing too drastic.  Access  to the site from the main road, is down a  single track (typical Devonian, high sided) road with passing places, thankfully not too long.  However, should you leave the site and turn right, to Croyde for example, then be prepared for miles of this type of road.

So a lovely site, but not so good  for the dogs. There is no on-site dog walk  and we could not walk our dogs outside the front gate because the narrow road would have been too dangerous. The only place we could walk the dogs was on the Tarka trail,  accessed via a locked  gate, at the back of the site.  This trail has a  tarmac path about a meter wide with hedgerow but mostly knee high nettles both sides of the path. We found no  grassy areas.  You can walk the trail for miles but as we are retired and have two little dogs and spent a lot of time on the site especially  when the weather was bad, all we required was an area where  our dogs could do their business and have a short walk.  Had  we been staying  for only a  couple of days then it would not have been too bad,  but as we were there for 9 days, only being able to use  this same narrow track every time our dogs wanted to relieve themselves became tedious for us and the dogs.  Bikes also use the trail so you have to keep looking behind as they can come up quickly and quietly (bells are obviously not cool these days). As they pass, you have to be prepared to stand to one side hopefully not in the nettles, as the path is narrow.

Onsite there are signs reminding dog owners not to let their dogs fowl the site and even an ad-hoc  sign on the small grass area outside the front gate of the site (this area is raised above the level of the road) reminding dog owners that ‘This is not a dog toilet area.’ So I think that some form of on-site dog walk/area would really be appreciated by dog owners.

Just a suggestion, either side of the ‘back gate’ are overgrown areas being only partly used for grass cuttings.Having to walk back and fore past  these areas  so many times each day, we could not help but think they would make one or two lovely fenced dog walk areas  giving dog owners a  bit of choice.

We love Jo and Malc!

Just returned from a really great week away at Willingcott.  Friendly welcome on arrival, site clean and tidy, clean service areas and excellent facilities block on site. This site doesn't have hedges between pitches which we prefer from experience on other sites. Although the playground had plenty of equipment we found it wasn't really geared up for our 2 year old, would have expected more as it is advertised as a family site. However Jo and Malc the Assistant Wardens more than made up for this with the lovely rapport that they built up with our little girl over the week, she is still talking about them now!

My stay

This was our first stay on this site, although we have visited it before. (a long time ago)  Our stay was in August, despite the number of children of children around it was a very pleasant stay.     The site itself is a bit exposed, the toilet block is  great, with plenty of space. The pitches are a good size and well laid out. There is a good choice of grass or hard standing.      The wardens work hard to keep the site looking good.     Overall this site is ideal for families and good for dogs.

What a lovely site

We enjoyed a three day break at Willingcott in August 2015. It's a lovely peaceful site with excellent facilities including one of the best shower blocks we have used. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. Though the site was busy it still had a very relaxed feel. There is plenty to occupy families in the surrounding area and it's only a short drive to the fabulous beach at Woolacombe. For dog owners the site offers direct access to a nice footpath which forms part of the Tarka trail - very handy. We thoroughly recommend this site and will be returning soon.

Good for family beach holiday

A lovely week visiting the beaches nearby - good location. Really helpful and friendly wardens and a particularly good toliet block. A little noisy as it was the summer holidays and some children do stay up rather late - but all happy noises. We will be back!

August break for 2 weeks one of these with grangkids

Great site. Friendly staff and good facilities. Great location for walking or cycling. Grab a local map from reception. Our only issue was the cool blustery weather. You will need your storm straps and reception have available rock pegs if needed.

Lovely site, shame about some of the facilities

We stayed for two weeks at this site and it is a lovely site, the pitches are good and the toilet block seems to be new and is well maintained and clean - however the disabled facilities seem to be poorly thought out due to the toilet roll being inaccessible when you are on the toilet and I think they have forgotten that not all disabled people are wheelchair bound as the mirrors are extremely low. Its a shame because over all it is a brilliant site and extremely well ran by the wardens who are very helpful and friendly.

Can't wait to come back next year!

We stayed here for two weeks in June 2014 when we were blessed with glorious weather for the whole fortnight. We enjoyed our stay so much we decided to come here for our two week break again in June this year. Lovely weather again and a brilliant stay. Very friendly and helpful wardens. I had an accident during the first week, which resulted in a visit to A&E and the warden helped me to contact the surgery in Woolacombe to have stitches removed the next week. Nothing was too much trouble. The site was immaculate and the toilet/shower blocks are lovely. Enjoyed a re-visit to the nearby very dog-friendly Fortescue pub for a carvery (they bring bits of meat out for the doggies) and the other two local pubs, all within walking distance of the site. This is one of the best CC sites we have ever been to. We're already planning to come back again next year!
