Great Location for Sightseeing.

A nice clean site with friendly wardens.  First time in North Devon and found the tourist attractions were well within driving distance.  Nice break before the children went back to school.

Perfect site - pity about the weather

We have been coming to this site on and off for 45 years and my family love it. The area is perfect for most things - walking, cycling, beach, places to go, pubs to visit and good restaurants within easy reach. My wife and I are getting on a bit now so our pastimes relate to travelling around and eating well - despite the weather during the last two weeks of August, which was very bad, we will no doubt be back as the area is just great. The current wardens keep the place immaculate and are very friendly. I quite liked their style. They will help where they can and I am sure that they are very considerate to genuine problems but will always tell you as it is. A smile a day when you go to the office is always guaranteed... Keep it up! The only problem this year was the internet. It is very slow at times and we kept "getting kicked out" I suspect that certain members were trying to "stream" things as opposed to merely netting. The wardens are well aware of the problem which I believe is being addressed by the Wi-Fi contractors.

Fantastic site

We really enjoyed our stay at Willingcott - the only downside was the weather!!! Great facilities, friendly and helpful staff and a great location - we will be back.

Great site

We recently stayed at this site for a week, the site facilities were immaculate at all times. The site wardens were really helpful and provided all of the assistance we could have asked for. The only thing that let our stay down was the good old English weather, but we were able to use the Tarka trail on an evening and the kids loved it. We will be visiting again!

top site

great location, fantastic toilet block.approach a bit narrow in places. Although I am not a dog hater I wish dog owners would realise that excessive barking is not to everyones taste, one owner sat sun bathing whist every passing person was subjected to loud barking with the owner imuned to the fact. also please keep dogs on a lead. One dog relieved itself on a pitch and not picked up,others running around off lead.

Great base

We stayed here for 12 nights using it as a base for woolacoombe and Ilfracombe. The facilities are spotless and could not be faulted. A lovely little site and we would stay there again.

Fantastically clean

We used this site as a base for Ilfracombe and Wollacomb. Great site, amazingly clean. Great walk (4 miles) to Ilfracombe along old railway, no roads.

A lovely, peaceful site

We had a lovely stay on this site, despite the terrible weather. The wardens were welcoming, the shower  block was modern and spotlessly clean and it was beautifully quiet in the evenings. We will definitely return and hope for the weather that the area deserves!

Our dogs didn't like this site

This is a very nice site and is very well located to visit some lovely towns and beaches. The site itself is not too big with a new central block housing all the quality facilities you would expect of a Caravan Club site and the wardens were friendly and helpful. The hard standings were well spaced and level. The grass pitches mostly seemed to have a bit of a slope but nothing too drastic.  Access  to the site from the main road, is down a  single track (typical Devonian, high sided) road with passing places, thankfully not too long.  However, should you leave the site and turn right, to Croyde for example, then be prepared for miles of this type of road.

So a lovely site, but not so good  for the dogs. There is no on-site dog walk  and we could not walk our dogs outside the front gate because the narrow road would have been too dangerous. The only place we could walk the dogs was on the Tarka trail,  accessed via a locked  gate, at the back of the site.  This trail has a  tarmac path about a meter wide with hedgerow but mostly knee high nettles both sides of the path. We found no  grassy areas.  You can walk the trail for miles but as we are retired and have two little dogs and spent a lot of time on the site especially  when the weather was bad, all we required was an area where  our dogs could do their business and have a short walk.  Had  we been staying  for only a  couple of days then it would not have been too bad,  but as we were there for 9 days, only being able to use  this same narrow track every time our dogs wanted to relieve themselves became tedious for us and the dogs.  Bikes also use the trail so you have to keep looking behind as they can come up quickly and quietly (bells are obviously not cool these days). As they pass, you have to be prepared to stand to one side hopefully not in the nettles, as the path is narrow.

Onsite there are signs reminding dog owners not to let their dogs fowl the site and even an ad-hoc  sign on the small grass area outside the front gate of the site (this area is raised above the level of the road) reminding dog owners that ‘This is not a dog toilet area.’ So I think that some form of on-site dog walk/area would really be appreciated by dog owners.

Just a suggestion, either side of the ‘back gate’ are overgrown areas being only partly used for grass cuttings.Having to walk back and fore past  these areas  so many times each day, we could not help but think they would make one or two lovely fenced dog walk areas  giving dog owners a  bit of choice.

We love Jo and Malc!

Just returned from a really great week away at Willingcott.  Friendly welcome on arrival, site clean and tidy, clean service areas and excellent facilities block on site. This site doesn't have hedges between pitches which we prefer from experience on other sites. Although the playground had plenty of equipment we found it wasn't really geared up for our 2 year old, would have expected more as it is advertised as a family site. However Jo and Malc the Assistant Wardens more than made up for this with the lovely rapport that they built up with our little girl over the week, she is still talking about them now!
