Fabulous site

We stayed here for the last 2 weeks of July and we'll definitely be back. Fabulous wardens - friendly, helpful & cheery. Lovely, well kept site - super clean, always spotless.  Shower & toilet block is brand new & immaculate.  We pitched right next to the playground - which is lovely - enclosed so nice & safe too.  Great area - so much for families to see & do locally.  If you're visiting make sure you take your storm straps as it's pretty blustery when the wind picks up!! Fabulous site - definitely worth a visit.

what a great site

My family and I spent a week here earlier this year - couldn't fault the site one bit , shower blocks really warm as well as the showers themselves, extremely clean (spotless in fact), the wardens were really friendly and helpfull made it one of the best sites I have stayed on. fantastic play area for the daughter. we will be going back there next year.

Why have we not stayed here before!

Having been to the area a few times before, I cannot understand why we 'missed' this when researching other years! Excellent site, warm friendly and helpful wardens. Facilities spotless. Fantastic location with Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Croyde all close by. Already thinking about next year as we are now back at work!

Brilliant site

We booked last minute for a 4 day break, arrived wardens extremely pleasant and helpful, site spotlessly clean, very well kept, whilst there we inquired about seasonal pitches, again couldn't fault the wardens very positive and helpful. Luckily there was a seasonal vacancy, which we booked. Cannot now wait until  next weekend when we can visit again. Thank you very much.

Wonderful Woolacombe

This was our 2nd visit due to the proximity of Woolacombe which we love for its sandy, dog friendly beach, walk up to the cafe at Puttsborough and enjoy the view from the outside seating area, glorious.Immaculate site, friendly wardens and thanks to the lady who handed in my watch when I left it in the shower cubicle,it had great sentimental value. The weather was mixed but had a great holiday.

Lovely site in windy Devon !

Site is well kept and wardens are very friendly.  The toilet & Shower block is new and modern and kept clean and tidy.   The site is fairly open plan and we did find it difficult to escape the wind for our entire stay - with it being close to the coast it can only be expected.  We did find it a bit noisy at times as there are some holiday parks fairly close by so there was fairground noise and music, but more in the background.   The local golf club is a bit run down, we had a drink but didn't fancy trying the food.   Would have loved to have had a visitors book in the information centre to put some comments in and I really would love to see an ordnance survey map on display in all the sites.   Having said all that here are the really GREAT things about this site.  Firstly it is right on the Tarka Trail so bring your bikes - it's about 3.5 miles to Ilfracombe - it's a really easy ride down but a very steep hill on the way back from town to join the trail again.  There are a few bike parks, the main one being at the end of the Tourist Information Centre located by the beach.  The other direction is not on a track - we didn't try it but we did cycle from Braunton to Fremington Quay, via Barnstaple which was great.  We parked just along from Tesco at Braunton, free car parking but with a 2.2m height restriction.  Turn down Vellator way and go straight over the roundabout instead of turning right to Tesco.  Car park about 200 yards or so.  If you head into Barnstaple Tea at the Taw is a fabulous place for lunch or cake - their cake is amazing! (follow the cycle path along the Taw and you can't miss it). Easy riding all the way, all tarmac and lots to see.  Difficult to find a free guide to the Tarka Trail so research before you go! Mortehoe Point is wonderful. It's worth buying the £2 map from reception. Marked on it you will see a bit of coast favoured by seals - we went twice and both times were lucky enough to see seals - it was amazing !  Low tide they bask on the rocks. The light house walk is nice too, we did the whole circular route.  Mortehoe car park is free after 6.00 p.m.  Fish and chips at Mortehoe was good when we had it.  Ilfracombe has something for everyone, the chapel over looking the harbour is worth a look - Verity the Damien Hurst at the harbour certainly worth a look (both sides of her).  There are lots of shops at the harbour, coastal walks and the usual things you would expect.  Miss Molly's Tea room good value and yummy. The great British Tea room near the RNLI shop is also excellent.   Arlington Court - NT was a wonderful day out, really enjoyed it.  Very dog friendly, even the carriage museum.  Woolacombe basically huge beach surrounded by holiday parks.  Didn't stay - just drove through, but would be great for families on the beach. Loved Lynmouth and Lynton, walk up to Watersmeet for tea and cake at NT cafe.  We had a fantastic time, despite the wind and occasional noise - would we go back - TOO RIGHT we would!

Highly Recommended

We had a long weekend at Willingcott in mid July and had a lovely time. The site is laid out in a circular fashion which is more interesting than the normal straight lines of parked outfits. Also it has has plenty of bushes and trees to add to the feeling of privacy. The site is scrupulously tidy and the shower block warm and spotless. Woolacombe is within walking distance across fields and there is a disused railway line adjacent to the site which takes you down to Ilfracombe by foot or cycle. Within driving distance are Barnstable and Lynton etc so plenty to do. All in all an excellent Caravan Club site and highly recommended.

Windy.

A lovely well kept site, the wardens worked hard to keep it immaculate. But it can get very windy, so if you are putting up an awning make sure you have the screw in pegs and storm straps, don't think that any area is sheltered. A small section of the road as you turn to the site, nr the pink house, is quite narrow so take care.
