Stayed early June - excellent site

We stayed at the site in early June for 12 nights and had a lovely time , the location is great, near to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe with are both lovely and also there is a nice walk down the tarka trail to the pub, which is dog friendly. The site is extremely well looked after and is a credit to the to wardens who are all very friendly and helpful. As per another review about the noise of grass cutting, grass does grow and they would complain if it was left long. The shower block is the best we have seen on our trips to CC sites. We will definitely return.

very clean

My wife and I enjoyed our stay. It is dog friendly and the facilities are very clean. Staff were very helpful and because of family illness we had to leave before planned and the site had no problem in responding to our shortened booked stay.

Excellent site

We enjoyed 5 nights at this excellent site. It is situated well away from noisy roads in the countryside. The wardens were most helpful and friendly, and the pitches both hardstanding and grass were immaculately maintained the wardens appeared to be fully occupied mowing grass etc. The toilet block was the best we have ever seen on a club site, and the laundry and washing up facilities were the same. Our pitch was near to the taps and bins - and we noticed one day that bins were emptied twice. We will certainly be returning.

Lovely clean site, shame about couple of things we saw and heard of.

We arrived here for a few days int he middle of June. The site is very close to Woolacoombe and is accessed via a narrow lane which shouldn't cause many problems as there are several passing points. The female warden was very nice and welcoming when we arrived. We to a hardstanding pitch not far from the toilet block and entrance. Nice sized pitches and very level. We didn't go for grass purely because we knew the weather wasn't going to be good during our stay. The site is quite big and very well maintained. Surprisingly there is only one toilet for the whole site but this did not cause any problems, we never had to queue for any of the facilities. It is kept clean at all times. There is even an outdoor wet suit shower which is worth its weight in gold. The site is peaceful even during the Euro football tournament. TV reception was good and the internet was adequate. There is a walk accessed through a locked gate (key given at check in), this is an old railway line which is now paved. Its good to take your dog out for a little walk. Our dog didn't like it for some reason, he was very reluctant to go out of the gate. Talking to two other people, theirs were the same, don't have a clue why! There are four wardens, we only had dealings with two of them who were very friendly and nice. I heard several negative comments about one of the other wardens and saw a couple of incidents involving him and believe me if he had spoken to me that way he spoke to these people (both women) I would have given him a mouthful! First incident was a caravan next to ours arrived and on the first night, they were sitting in the awning obviously catching up, they weren't particularly loud and weren't doing anything to cause offence, they even went completely quiet at 1030 pm. The next morning I overheard the said male warden tell them off about the noise saying someone had complained and had threatened to leave the site. I heard him say I don't mind a little noise up till 9.30pm but then it should be quiet!!! What is this? The army!! He sounded very abrupt when he said this!! The other incident was a couple of kids (well behaved and polite kids I must point out) decided to have a little play with a ball on and empty field behind the wardens hut, there were no caravans in the field so they weren't doing any harm. The same warden told them off and was quite rude about it. They had an adult with them too! These are not good advertisements for the Caravan Club. So all in all, it is a lovely site but Mr Job's Worth seems to spoil it for some. If you want to meet up with friends on a site and have a catch up in the evening then this isn't the place for you.

Return to Woolacombe

After a gap of some six years a return to Willingcott found the site even better with an updated Toilet block, Wardens as ever very good. Super base for visiting many locations within a short drive. One "downside" is £6 parking fee at Woolacombe with no concessions for part day - but at least you can see where a portion of the money goes because Woolacombe is a very well maintained resort. Unfortunately weather was appalling but that was no different to any where else.

Nice site

A nice quiet site, clean facilities. The wardens are very helpful and the walk along the disused railway line is an added bonus.

Willingcott caravan site.

Really liked this site nice and peaceful and within easy reach of other seaside resorts. Wardens were friendly and helpful we were given a key for the gate at the rear of the site which leads to a disused railway line ideal walk for people with dogs. We had good reception for the Television at all times. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful pleasant holiday. An added bonus you can see the sea from the site.

Excellent Site

We stayed here for a week in May. The site is down a narrow lane so don't arrive early in case someone is on their way out. One toilet block but wow is it smart. we sited near the block as some pitches are a fair distance away and we were meeting friends who needed one of the disabled pitches. There is a walk just behind the site which you get to through a locked gate. A key is issued on arrival. This walk goes all the way to Ilfracombe along the old railway trackbed. Lots of birds and woodland plus a reservoir and a short tunnel on the way. The path is paved and is downhill all the way. If you don't fancy the 4 mile 1 in 37 walk back there are buses from Ilfracombe to near the site. Woolacombe is a short drive but parking is expensive after May. Free along the cliff top before.

Fabulous Site and facilities.

Only stayed 2 nights on this site but we were impressed with the wardens, who must have been "pulling their hair out" with the weather preventing any grass cutting. Still they all had a smile on their faces and appeared happy in their work. Facilities are very modern, well kept and some of the best we have used on a CC site. The site in general is well maintained given the terrible weather we have encountered recently. We did visit Lynton & Lynmouth which are very interesting old Devon villages. We would certainly go back again if touring North Devon!!
