Stayed 4 nights in November. Very impressed how much there is to see in the area. Site very convenient to Warwick. 10 minutes walk. Plenty of cafes and restaurants in the town. Some more hardstandings would be an advantage, especially at this time of year.
We stayed 4 nights leaving on the 11th Nov & found the facilities warm & clean. Did 2 walks from site & visited British Motor museum off M40 Junc 12. Ideally located to walk into Wawick which we did after one of our walks. 3 or 4 locks being repaired on canal path to cafe at top of Hatton Locks so no boat movements.
enjoyed soup hot chocolate & toasted tea cake. No children with us so cannot comment about that. We felt gravel pitches themselves were in need of some attention.(a little 'tired' looking)
once again we enjoyed our stay over 4 days.
The site is excellent for a jumping of spot to explore the area. The site is great with all the amenities you require also 10 min to supermarket + 10 min to town centre. Although you would not believe you were that close. We would recommend the site to anyone . Just one thing, the wardens who were on site were not very hospitable good job they are only there till Christmas . The regular wardens are a great couple and nothing too much trouble.
Another enjoyable stay at this site - this time mainly to use it to access the NEC for the Caravan show. The wardens were very attentive and insistant that I didn't park under the chestnut trees that were shedding their conkers! They were quite right - the noise even on my car roof was considerable! This site has a lot to recommend it for its lovely surroundings and great walking for dogs just outside the gate. And of course plenty of interest in Warwick itself as well as the surrounding area. I haven't rated the site for families because I have no idea what they would need these days - although my first trip to this site was 40 years ago when my children enjoyed the castle hugely!
Stayed 1 night on our way north. Excellent stopover as less than 2 miles from the M40. Wardens are very helpful and welcoming, among the friendliest we have encountered. Site is very well located, a 10min stroll takes you to the heart of Warwick with its many attractions and eateries. There are nice walks in the area including being able to walk (or run) around the racetrack. Facilities are smaller and more dated than some other CC sites, but spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. Overall highly recommended, this was our second visit and we would definitely return again.
We were only able to stay for a day at Warwick and this site suited very well. It is situated alongside the town so the shops, castle, canal walks, golf course etc are really close to hand. We have stopped previously at Cheltenham racecourse which is fine but really does feel like a car park. Warwick is a little more interesting. There are the hardstandings around the track but there are also plenty of pitches with hedges and trees around them which adds benefits. The grass pitches are not an issue for motorhomers as they all fall towards tarmac roads so no chance of getting stuck! This is an amazing site if you are attending a race meeting but also a fine place to stop for Warwick and all the local amenities.
Just had a 3 night stop over on our way back from Tewkesbury. The satnav took us right to the gates of the racecourse which was great, but there was a shortage of signage to direct us to the actual site entrance from the main road. However we found our way in. Its a quirky kind of site compared to any other we've stayed on, but it was a pleasant experience. We had numerous walks to the town, castle, pubs etc. as well as a splendid canal / river circular walk. There's a bit of aircraft noise though not invasive, and we were on a blue post pitch behind the toilet block which was very large. I don't know what it would be like on the tarmac next to the racecourse.. it certainly had a good outlook but was just.. odd!!
An excellent stop over or a sightseeing trip to the area - I think 3 nights was just right. Not much for kids, but unless you were going to the castle, there's not much in the locality either.
Definately recommend for us oldies!!
This site is located close to Warwick town centre but being on the racecourse there are plenty of walks from the site. Facilities are not top notch as would be expected from a racecourse site, but the toilet block is heated and clean and showers are very good. Many of the pitches are grass, and the hardstanding is on tarmac so not suitable for an awning. The hardstandings overlook the racecourse buildings and appear a bit 'temporary' but are fine for a short stay. Warwick is an easy 1/2 mile walk and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The castle is well worth a visit, as is nearby Stratford upon Avon (7 miles). Would recommend for a few nights but probably not a long stay.
Superbly located for visiting Warwick town and its attractions. There are a number of walks directly from the site and the canal walk is easy to access. Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Stratford are within easy reach - the bus station is 10 mins walk from the site. The toilet/shower block is maintained spotlessly clean as are the other facilities.
However, the pitch we had been allocated with our motorhome was on a large tarmac area, adjacent to the actual racetrack, with no trees or greenery (except the track) to relieve the views. Moreover, the area is completely unlit at night and walking across it in the dark is not very pleasant at all - the ground surface is not visible, there are standing water puddles and some uneven patches. My wife would not walk across it unaccompanied as she was frightened of tripping up. I spoke to the wardens the morning following our first night's stay and we were reallocated a pitch in the main area which had trees, hedges, grass and night-lighting! We were very appreciative of their understanding and cooperation because without that our stay would have been quite unpleasant.
Booked this site for a couple of nights stopover. Website showed full so phoned site and booked no problem. Was told when booking we'd got a hard standing, being a motorhome no problem - so we thought. We have stayed before for a week several years ago, great location. Walking distance into town and castle, very expensive theme park but worth a visit plenty of history! Buses available very close to site, including the bus
station. Canal nearby for walks.
Disappointed on arrival to be given choice of three pitches all in the completely tarmaced area despite plenty of grass pitches and dry weather. Were informed going to be full because of show! We didn't question either point as only stopover but wouldn't have been happy with our pitch for longer stay or in the really decent weather. Was warm and we did sit out but it felt VERY like a car park.
All that said a good site in a great location.
