A Pleasant Surprise

We only live half an hour away and have visited Warwick many times, but have never stayed at the racecourse site until now. I now wish we had now stayed sooner.   You have to drive over the racecourse to enter the site, which we found to be fine, just take it slowly. On arrival the wardens were really friendly and chatty, we had booked an awning pitch. which are all on grass, and we needed our leveling blocks as the pitches are a bit uneven and slope. We were not the only ones,  most of the grass pitches are not very level. The toilet block was modern, very clean and warm and the showers were spacious. We did notice quite a lot of traffic noise especially in the mornings. otherwise the site was fairly quiet, although it would probably be very different on race days. The site is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Warwick and the castle is only an extra 10 minutes away. Outside the site is parkland and a track which goes all the way round the racecourse, great for dog walking. There is also a golf course and driving range.  We walked to Hatton along the towpath, where there is a small cafe and pub for refreshments before the walk back. For children as well as the castle,  St. Nicholas Park is a great place, we often spent whole days there with our boys when they were younger. Now we have stayed here, we wish we had stayed before and have already booked another couple of nights, later in the year.

excellent for town visit

Only stayed here one night to check out my new motorhome, so did not use any of the facilities. A very nice and quiet place, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent position for a visit to the lovely town. Shopping, restaurants and pubs within easy reach on foot, and of course the Castle.

First trip of the year

We have had a lovely week on this site, toilet block is a little tired but is very clean and ample for most peoples needs. The new wardens were very friendly and are making improvements where they can. This site is an ideal base to walk into Warwick which has nice parks a few shops and of course the castle. For anyone wishing to take a longer walk the canal is only 10 mins away and there is a lovely walk to Hatton locks with a great pub at the end. This walk is about 4 miles each way.

Very handy for Warwick

The site is small and very handy for getting into the centre of Warwick. Unfortunately the site does look a little tired. Surrounding fence looks tatty and has been pushed down in places and the entry route across the racecourse isn't very flat or safe to walk across. TV reception is non existent with a great need for a booster system. With no Wifi available a general upgrade of the site is required. We love Warwick but will not be returning until money is spent on the site.

Our Festive Season adventure

We were booked to stay for one night in late December. We arrived full of Christmas spirit, but this was quickly dampened by the offhand and unwelcoming attitude of the staff, who showed very little interest in either us or the area. This was a pity, as we could see the potential of the place, and liked Warwick; if we return, I hope we shall enjoy a warmer welcome.

Needs a few pounds spending on it.

A very well posistioned site, within easy walking distance of Historic Warwick. BUT, it is getting desperate for some upgrading.. and quick. The perimeter fence has fallen down in places, a security risk. The access Panels laid across the course are not fit for purpose, and a caravan had to be rescued after getting stuck, while we were there, My small car nearly got stuck on several occasions when driving across them,(Fix It !).  The ground gets boggy too quickly, so more (make it all) hardstandings would be a good investment. The Toilet block is desperate for some refurbishment, missing screws, panels getting loose, and while they are at it, add some privacy cubicles. We love the place, great for the dogs, excercised just off of the site in open parkland. just about everything a motorhomer needs. Please Caravan Club spend some of your increased income upgrading this Site. (and no more stupid 'pods' please.)   PS we were here over Christmas, Thankyou Wardens.
