Great Location

Stayed for 5 nights & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is excellent for visiting Warwick, Leamington Spa, Stratford Upon Avon & the surrounding area. We played golf at Stonleigh Deer Park & Newbold Comyn both of which were interesting & inexpensive. A site to be recommended.

Excellant site will certainly be returning later in the year

What another fabulous caravan club site, the wardens were so helpful, allowing that i have quiet a serious back problems they kindly put us on to a pitch close to the ameamities and considering we were only staying for the one night as we were heading further north on this particular break, promised to return hopefully in the forthcoming autumn period, then we can also explore the area of Warwick

I wish I had a longer stay

We used this site as a stopover for the night on the way to the Isle of Wight and wished we had more time to explore Warwick. The town centre is an easy walk away and we sampled the Fish and Chips from the award winning chippy as recommended by the warden. We weren't disappointed and apparently it is one of the top 25 fish and chip shops in the country. The site itself was very tidy and the walk around the racecourse is excellent. The shower block was clean and tidy and the warden was very friendly and helpful. He even took the time to personally show me around the available pitches and recommended one for an easy getaway the next morning. We will definitely stay here again but will extend the stay to take in a trip round the castle with the kids.

What a nice surprise

We didn't expect such a lovely site, in the middle of the racecourse, but hedged all round and feeling quite private. Toilets clean, staff friendly, pitch excellnt. Would like to stay longer and explore next time.

Excellent location and Warwick is lovely

Just spent 3 days at this site . It was very unusual being next to a racecourse! But there are only about 21 race days a year so never saw any races. The site was immaculate and the staff very friendly and helpful. We like to do a bit of easy cycling on the flat and the wardens have directions already printed out for the cycle ride to Hatton locks. It was so easy to get to . I think it was about 2 miles to the canal and maybe another 2 miles along the many locks . We had lunch in a nice café there by the canal. It was also easy to cycle around Warwick. Warwick is lovely. It is so compact and easy to walk around and see everything. We visited the Mill Street open garden which was idyllic and had a great view of the castle and I also visited the Hill Close gardens which are just outside the entrance to the site. We didn’t go inside the castle this time. I thought you could walk around the grounds for free but you have to pay - but it is a stupendous castle! St Nicholas Park is lovely and has everything that you would need –lots of amusement for children there –and again it is within easy walking distance from the site. We hired a motor boat on the river . We enjoyed having a drink in the Market Square. When the sun was shining we preferred to sit outside Wetherspoons or the Twisted Wig as Rose and Crown was in the shade but we did go there one evening. We ate at Spice Hut in Market Place –it was ok but not very spicy. We went to Micatto restaurant in the Market Place –nice food if you don’t mind being ripped off! Next time we go we will try the many restaurants on Smith Street .We went to the New Bowling Green pub on St Nicholas Street as that had a nice beer garden at the back.

A great site

This site is in a great location if you want to explore the surrounding countryside and, of course, Warwick itself. As motorhomers we tend to park up and explore by foot, bike or local transport and you can easily do all three. Stratford-Upon-Avon and Leamington Spa are short bus rides away and there is plenty to see by bike. The facilities were clean and tidy and the wardens were helpful and friendly. We came for three nights but ended up staying an extra two nights as we liked it so much. Recommended.

Transformation

We have visited the Warwick several times over the last few years and always found it to be a brilliant location but a neglected site.   This time we were thrilled to see the potholes in the roads around the site filled.   The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and the Wardens were so friendly and helpful you felt that they actually wanted you to be there and were busy around the site all hours of the day.   Well done to them. We had our usual meal at "Tailors" in the town and several drinks at the Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel a short walk from the site. Sainsburys is a short walk also, or if driving it is also easy with plenty of parking. We don't have a dog but there is a massive amount of space to exercise them.   We will be back much more often.

Great little site

We have to agree with the last few reviews - a great little site with very welcoming wardens, spotless facilities and an easy walk into Warwick following helpful advice from the wardens. Ideal for the dogs on the common.  If you walk in via the Lord Lycester Hospital (not a hospital but a home for ex serviceman) and you have dogs you cannot go in the cafe, but if you go down the side road and through the car park you can sit in the knot garden with the dogs and we were able to have coffee (and bacon sandwiches - not normally on the menu, but they did them and very good too) in the lovely little garden sitting in the sun. There is a charge to go round the building or into the warden's garden. Warwick is very walkable and there is a small social history museum and regimental museum at St John's (free but ask for donations) and the Sheldon Tapestry of Warwickshire at the County Museum in the market place. We went to the Rose and Crown (also on the market place by the Randolph Turpin statue) as they allowed dogs inside  - not cheap but good food.

Dog-walkers paradise

A small but easily manoeuvrable site with friendly staff, clean excellent facilities and easy access to the town. With a golf course and driving range adjacent and a 20 acre area of common land this site is excellent for a bit of peace, quiet and exercise if you want it. Dog walking is almost obligatory if you have one. The printable directions for finding the site didn't seem to make sense and I felt there was a lack of normal signs to the race-course itself. That said I was very impressed with the small size of the site, the friendliness of staff and caravanners and the heat of the hot water. There was a fine laundry and small but adequate dishwashing area. Recycling is taken seriously and the historic town of Warwick with it's attractions right on the doorstep. Fine site for a quiet stay, not so good for younger ones I suspect.
