We have visited the Warwick several times over the last few years and always found it to be a brilliant location but a neglected site. This time we were thrilled to see the potholes in the roads around the site filled. The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and the Wardens were so friendly and helpful you felt that they actually wanted you to be there and were busy around the site all hours of the day. Well done to them.
We had our usual meal at "Tailors" in the town and several drinks at the Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel a short walk from the site.
Sainsburys is a short walk also, or if driving it is also easy with plenty of parking.
We don't have a dog but there is a massive amount of space to exercise them.
We will be back much more often.
Great little site
We have to agree with the last few reviews - a great little site with very welcoming wardens, spotless facilities and an easy walk into Warwick following helpful advice from the wardens. Ideal for the dogs on the common. If you walk in via the Lord Lycester Hospital (not a hospital but a home for ex serviceman) and you have dogs you cannot go in the cafe, but if you go down the side road and through the car park you can sit in the knot garden with the dogs and we were able to have coffee (and bacon sandwiches - not normally on the menu, but they did them and very good too) in the lovely little garden sitting in the sun. There is a charge to go round the building or into the warden's garden. Warwick is very walkable and there is a small social history museum and regimental museum at St John's (free but ask for donations) and the Sheldon Tapestry of Warwickshire at the County Museum in the market place. We went to the Rose and Crown (also on the market place by the Randolph Turpin statue) as they allowed dogs inside - not cheap but good food.
Dog-walkers paradise
A small but easily manoeuvrable site with friendly staff, clean excellent facilities and easy access to the town. With a golf course and driving range adjacent and a 20 acre area of common land this site is excellent for a bit of peace, quiet and exercise if you want it. Dog walking is almost obligatory if you have one. The printable directions for finding the site didn't seem to make sense and I felt there was a lack of normal signs to the race-course itself. That said I was very impressed with the small size of the site, the friendliness of staff and caravanners and the heat of the hot water. There was a fine laundry and small but adequate dishwashing area. Recycling is taken seriously and the historic town of Warwick with it's attractions right on the doorstep. Fine site for a quiet stay, not so good for younger ones I suspect.
A Little Gem
Having just returned from a four day trip to Warwick I wanted to share our experience of Warwick Racecourse campsite. What a gem. Situated in the centre part of the race course accessed via Meat and Bread Close this truly is a delightful small site. Not one for children there being no play area however my brother and I would have loved the big open space of St Marys common to run and explore.
Take care when travelling along the road adjacent to the race course as it narrows reducing the road to one lane width only. This is the same whether approaching from the North or the South. The camp entrance is at the Northern end.
With a mixture of hard and grassed pitches we opted for a grassed one. The site as with most operates a one way system. As dog owners we were delighted with the huge grassed common land where dogs were able run. Nearby (2 mins walk) there is a very good nine hole golf course and an excellent driving range.
The nearest connivance store is less than 5 mins walk away. The town square where an open air market is held every Saturday and on Bank Holidays is also 5 mins walk away. The square itself has three very nice Pubs on it which do real ale and excellent food. One of the pubs is a Weatherspoons renowned for good food, ale at excellent value. Close by there are numerous other restaurants and takeaways. Sainsburys store is also within walking distance by simply turning left out the camp and walk down Meat and Bread Close to in.
Now there is so much to see in the immediate area that we will have to return soon to do the parts we missed including the collection of Open Victorian gardens right on your door step in Meat and bread Close. The Castle is a must but make sure you download the vouchers for 2 for 1. Also take a picnic with you nearly £5 for two small mugs of tea is not my idea of value the food is equally pricey. The castle takes a good four hours to do but it worth the money.
Royal Leamington Spa is very close and the fabulous Jephson Gardens (free to enter) are a must. After your walk call and have a meat pasty and cake at the Aviary Café. The on road parking is charged via pay and display but was quite reasonable. Stratford on Avon meanwhile is focused mainly on overseas tourists and prices reflect this.
All in all there is so much to see round Warwick and the immediate area. The site wardens are lovely people, very helpful and always happy to chat. It is a brilliant site that would be totally perfect if it only had Wifi however as the site is rented and not owned this is not to be. Still well worth a visit
April Visit
What a great location! Very pleasant and helpful wardens. From the site the local supermarket (Sainsbury's), the town, castle and bus station all within easy walking distance. Facilities were spotlessly clean (I had read a review that said these were 'shabby' - this was definitely not the case!). The wardens helpfully had vouchers for 'buy 1 get 1 free' for Warwick Castle otherwise it would have been a costly day out as we had left our 2015 booklet at home! We had a fantastic meal at the Lebanese restaurant 'Aqua' in Warwick-highly recommended. Lots to do in the area-we will definitely return,
A Friendly Welcome
We stopped at Warwick for two nights, having just come off the ferry at Dover after 12 weeks away. We got a friendly cheerful welcome which, along with sunny weather, helped lift our post-expedition blues. It's one of our favourite UK sites.

brilliant wardens
new to the caravan club and was made very welcome from day one to day eleven, wonderfull staff on site helped us deal with a few taxing events throughout our stay. lovely site in a brilliant location and we will be back. thanks again to the most friendly helpful wardens
Nicestop off
Thank you to the staff for a lovely 2 night stay, very welcoming and helpful. Warwick Castle a 5 min walk away, NT Charlcote House a 8 min drive away, plus more NT sites not that far away we ran out of time. The facilities were spot on. However we felt the site wasn't catering towards families no small park to keep them contained and amused, therefore when they were running around outside we felt there was lots of raised brows, trying to be unbiased our children are just that children on holiday and at 3,5 and 7 they're certainly not naughty obnoxious brats. But still hd a lovely stay.
Nice to go back
Not stopped here for a few years, forgot how handy it is for Stratford park n ride and gaydon motor museum, also if you want a lazy day Warwick has loads to see and do at your own pace
lovely site
A lovely little site only minutes away from the town centre and castle ( which is well worth a visit although VERY expensive
Unlike another reviewer the site is very quiet not being near any road at all. The facilities are very good as expected from the c.club and very clean and warm.
The wardens very friendly and helpful
Sainsbury's is only a few minutes walk along the side of the racetrack.
