Third time we have stayed at Warwick in our motorhome, first time was on tarmac which is ok for one night. Really warm welcome from the Wardens, nothing was too much trouble. No queues in the showers despite site being full. Location is perfect and the path going around the race track had just been laid in tarmac, lovely to walk around with or without dogs. Easy access to town and the Grand Union canal, nice gentle walk up the Hatton Flight locks and back. Would definitely return for a fourth time.
We stayed at Warwick Racecourse site for the first time for three nights end of June. We were surprised with this site having stayed at Exeter and Cheltenham sites previously. Small well layed out site within the inner part of the racecourse itself, reasonably secluded mostly and reasonably level. Just a short walk into Warwick itself with a nine hole golf course within the racecourse grounds. Warwick is a lovely English market town with excellent public transport close by and a choice of local facilities nearby and Tesco and Sainsbury’s supermarkets a short drive from the site.it was our first visit but won’t be our last here. The whole experience was helped by the good weather during this summers trip.
a very compact site, I have been on CL sites that are bigger and only allowed 5 vans, the toilets are ok but if site is at capacity then 3 bogs are not enough.
same old problem with Yappie dogs, noisy planes overhead through the night, not the best, but it served its purpose for want we wanted to do. I thought it a bit pricey..
After speaking with a few people we didn’t have the highest expectations of the site, however that was based on their opinion and experience. We found the site to be nice and friendly, in a great location for Warwick (short stroll into town)
The wardens were helpful and even researched dog sitters in the local area for us.
The information on the site was good & facilities clean and usual club standard (same awful shower curtains!)
There are good dog walks directly off the site and our pitch enjoyed good mobile signal and tv reception ( despite the warden saying that we might struggle) pitch 13.
Dishwashing facilities were small and one sink on the site but there were more in the laundry room.
There was the regular aeroplane noise and assume that we are on a flight path from Birmingham. It didn’t bother us much.
Paper shop just up the road & a M&S food shop nearby.
We enjoyed a walk along rivers and canal to leamington Spa which was worth a visit.
Great site for exploring Warwick & surrounding area.
Stayed for 3 nights last week visting the area on foot and by public transport. Site is easy to find and access. Mixture of grass, hardstanding and tarmac (alongside the racetrack). The grass pitches were rather close together which made the site seemed cramped We had pitch 53 (tarmac) on which we were required to park our motorhome lengthways parallel to the track trails. Great Location. Site showers are located behind the office. Male & female only have 3 showers in each and although very clean could do with an upgrade. Also there is a covered dishwashing area, laundry, chemical and grey water disposal (for caravan roller containers). Motorhome disposal point located opposite our pitch - on way out.. Convenience store 5 mins walk from site. Bus Station 6 mins walk with links to Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, both of which we visited. Also Coventry and Stratford on Avon. Beautiful town with many interesting old buildings and of course Warwick Castle - not to be missed - members get a 45% entry discount. There is a market in Warwick every Saturday. The Tilted Wig in the Market Square does superb value for money smoked salmon sandwiches! Following on from a recent post, there are a lot of dogs but they are always on a lead on site and the owners walk them along the public footpath between the track rails and the site fence, often much to our amusement!
We just spent 20 nights here on family business. Unfortunately we had to suffer 3 race days. To be fair, the wardens are excellent and clean up after the races very quickly and efficiently. Most race days it is just a minor inconvenience having to be off site for a while, but when they were watering the course you sometimes had to divert 1/4 mile along a rough stony track and over a series of car park speed humps to enter or leave the site as the normal exit was blocked by the water feed. Ladies Night was particularly awful. We had to leave the site by 12 and we couldn't return until after the last race which was at 8.30. When we tried to get back on just after 9pm we were confronted by rude race stewards, one of whom didn't know where the site was and one who told us the site didn't let anyone on after 8. Having finally defeated these obstacles, we were treated to a very loud and incompetent Robbie Williams tribute band, followed by thumping disco noises which kept us awake until 11.30pm. So, if the racing isn't what you are going for, try to avoid race days, you will be treated like a second class citizen.
Just got back from a 3 night stay at this site, we picked a hardstanding pitch for our first time out with a caravan. We were sited opposite the main grandstand on slightly sloping tarmac. After setting up we enjoyed a walk around the common land surrounding the site, our dog also enjoyed the freedom to run and meet other dogs. Well situated for a walk into Warwick town itself with supermarkets and shops near-by. On Saturday we drove to Hatton Locks and had a great walk along the tow path. Sunday was spent exploring Warwick and taking a boat out on the Avon, which gave us a great view of Warwick Castle. The facilities on site were excellent, with warm, clean showers, careful of the hot water in the basins though, as the sign says it's very hot!
There were several dogs on site, all were friendly and their owners responsible enough to pick up after them. Look forward to visiting again soon.
Race course site is very pleasant and unusual setting.
Facilities are ready for a upgrade although very clean.
Very expensive for staying on a car park.
As usual for Caravan & Motorhome sites - overrun with dogs so if you don’t like dogs stay away although there are no dog free sites in the club provided.
So much to be impressed about - particularly during my one night stay on Saturday 17th March - wardens worked very hard to move my grass booking to a hardstanding as due to awful weather no grass pitches available and more people booked than there was space to accommodate. Clean and warm facilities and friendly welcome which was much appreciated after a 31/2 hour drive in blizzard conditions, excellent dog walking from the site, shopping, restaurants etc on the doorstep and decent roads immediately on hand for onward journey. Thank you to the wardens - it must have been a really trying time for you - but you certainly didn't let it show.
