Great stopover, easy location in to Warwick town centre.

Access was easy just off the M40, if it’s not a race meeting day there are car parks close by if you arrive too early. The site itself is compact but perfectly adequate, the wardens were friendly but clear with the rules (which are there for all of us to comply with). I would definitely return, if you have a dog & wish to have ample exercise options in between longer journeys, this place is ideal.

Not happy

It was our granddaughters sixth birthday so we booked to stay at Warwick Race course for four days to spend time with our family. On arrival at the site there were several motor homes already parked in a queue at about 12.30pm. Having driven from Portsmouth it is difficult to time it precisely taking into account traffic etc. On arrival and still in my vehicle I was confronted by the lady warden informing us along with the other drivers that we had arrived too early and we should have stopped in a lay by and waited. She said she had send an email to everyone but nobody could find it. We tried to explain that it was very difficult to get precise timing and did not feel safe stopping on a motorway lay by. We noted that every day the same thing happened to other drivers arriving at the site.We were somewhat taken aback by such a tirade which we had not experienced before on other sites not a very good welcome to the site which set the tone of the stay for us and others. The next encounter with the (grumpy) warden as a few of the campers named her was when we arranged to go for a walk around the race course, which is a public area, with my son and granddaughter and her friend. On returning to the front of the site my granddaughter desperately needed to go to the toilet and we wanted to take her to our motorhome toilet which was yards away from the public fence. Again the lady warden refused outright and then subjected us to another tirade of “bodily fluids contamination lecture “ which was in front of our granddaughter and her friend.. Our granddaughter became very upset as they couldn’t understand why the lady was so angry with them. The whole episode was totally unnecessary and could have been resolved in a more reasonable and friendly manner. My wife and I fully appreciate the Rules and Regulations especially as we are in our mid 70,s but it was an unpleasant experience for us all and we would have to think very carefully about revisiting a very nice site. Great location

Just writing to give a balanced review of this site following the previous poor rating. We are saddened to read poor reviews like this when staff on sites are having to deal with so many challenges. This is a well-managed site. The wardens are doing their very best to keep everyone safe with detailed information and a wrist band system to ensure only two people in the facilities at any one time. In our experience, the site was peaceful, great for walks and near to Warwick town centre, with quirky shops and pubs. Please do read other reviews and not just the last one posted on 27 August!

Poor site

New pitches have too small gravel which makes pitching difficult. Wardens not helpful with instructions on pitching, as per leaflet given on arrival. Security on site didn’t exist. Coved 19 instruction on toilet block very poor. Noisy road and flight path. Poor drainage and roads around site.

Worth a visit to see local area

The site is in an excellent position for seeing the local area, close to local buses and reasonably close to train stations. We went for a meal at the Rose and Crown pub in Warwick, dog friendly and taking all necessary precautions. Similarly, in Leamington Spa we found the Royal Pug had excellent food. Both were booked in advance. There are excellent walks from the site with plenty of space for dogs to run around. However, there is some traffic noise. The road within the site became muddy and full of puddles and generally the grounds are not as pleasant as on other sites we have visited. Our grass pitch kept reasonably firm and we were able to move off it with no trouble after a full day of rain. The welcome we got was not as pleasant as we have had previously at other sites this year, and the toilet block facilities were very limited at this time. There was a negative tone to the way COVID instructions, and off-limits areas in the toilet block were presented, compared to other sites. Overall we had a pleasant stay for three nights. We would come again, most likely on the way to somewhere further south as it is a good mid point in a long journey.

A return visit to Warwick

We have been to this site many times and like the location as it is ideal for walking the dogs around the racecourse and for walking into Warwick. The wardens are friendly and helpful and the basic facilities are kept clean. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, and the small facility, only 2 people were allowed into the shower block. This would be fine if there were a separate toilet to use if access to the shower block was denied. Most sites do provide this. Unfortunately, this is not available here. In the ladies shower block, both privacy cubicles were closed which was disappointing. There was also a notice asking people not to clean teeth etc in the sinks that were available. The restriction rules appear to have been interpreted differently throughout the network and wonder whether this is intentional.

Enjoyable three days.

Very easy to find from M40, approx 5 mins. Pitched by racecourse on tarmac which was level & nice views over the course as we pitched front end facing course. Pleasant short stroll into Warwick & bus from outside site takes you to Leamington Spa or Stratford on Avon. Short stroll along racecourse to a large Sainsbury’s if needed. Overall would recommend this site for a few days stay to visit the various towns & attractions. Wardens first class.

Great location

Just spent 4 nights at this well located site, wardens were helpful and we pitched on an awning site, lovely level site and toilet/shower facilities very clean, good system considering the present pandemic. They could do with an update but apart from that were fine. The site itself is very close to Warwick town and Warwick castle. Many pubs, restaurants and takeaways all within 15 min walk. Good for cycling to Leamington spa or up to the Hatton locks. Great park nearby next to canal where you can take kayaks or SuP but car park no good for Motorhome unfortunately as barrier too low. Highly recommend this site will definitely be going back.

Great location

Prior to arrival, good communication received reference covid restrictions and booking in times. On arrival greeted by cheerful helpful Wardens. Excellent briefing given reference covid restrictions. Superb advice on site and local area given. Facilities spotless. Excellent walks from site. Approx 10 minute walk into town centre. Lots of places to eat out. Really relaxing site and area. We stayed on pitch 53 pitched side on to Racecourse. Had some enjoyable chats with people walking on the footpath. Excellent chat one evening with Wardens, sharing tips and advice on this site and area and other club sites. We will definitely be back again.

Great site, delightful wardens.

Had a recent one night stop at Warwick site, the first of a six site trip and the first since they re-opened. Organisation was excellent and the wardens were very understanding about us not knowing about the new 1.00pm arrival time. The site is lovely with some great pitches where you could be deep in the countryside. A few pitches are on the tarmac opposite the race course and these are alright for a short stay or on race days. We pitched on number 30. Lots of opportunities for walks and an easy 10 minute walk into the town. There were plenty of outside areas at cafes in the town so safe eating outdoors was possible. Good charity and other shops and all were well organised with hand sanitizer and controlled numbers inside. We didn’t use the site facilities but the system for limiting numbers with bands on hooks was efficient. In all a great site for a short stop or a longer holiday with easy access to a lovely area.
