Warwick again

Like many reviews, we agree with comments about the facilities, which really do need updating, and it is true that many of the hardstandings are in what appears to be a car park. We understand that there will be more hardstandings created on the more attractive part of the site and look forward to seeing these. However, due to the position of the site which has easy access to good dog walking and the town centre, as well as the friendliness of the wardens and the cleanliness of the facilities, we will be visiting this site again.

First visit ..... and last

When you look at pictures this site on the web its quite appealing, but when your there its a different picture. There are 2 water points on site, one has no soak away and so is constantly a mud bath. the hard standing is on the car park, teared seating behind you and the racecourse in front, that was to be expected from the pictures. what isn't obvious is the public dog walk around the course, and at night there are some shady characters 3 feet from the caravans. at no point did we feel safe in bed, and we didn't leave the van for long in the day time. The barrier security is a joke, a couple of gates secured with a combination bike lock! some people love the site, we hated it. The only saving grace is its location. but never again!!!!

Thanks

I have titled this review "Thanks" as I found the wardens on this site were excellent, they helped us out with an electrical problem and I just want to say thank you. These two people really do go above and beyond.

Great location and easy to get to

Stopped over for an afternoon and night on my way south. Very warm greeting from the staff and a good explanation of the facility. I chose a pitch next to the race course on the hard standing. Needed ramps to get level, but plenty of room. Although people walk round the track just the other side of a waist high fence, had no troubles and if you like people watching, fantastic! Walk into the shops in town is not very long, but is uphill. Wide selection of shops and places to eat. As your in the centre of the race track, plenty of room for exercise if you so wish. Would recommend and will be returning again on my travels

A racing certainty!

We decided to visit Warwick after previously living there for 30 years. We had used the magnificent facility which is called St Mary's Lands, within which are Lammas Fields Common, a 9 hole golf course, a rugby pitch, caravan park all encircled by the racecourse many times over the years but never as a caravanner. What a great central position, for dog walking (miles and miles of walks), for visiting the town with all is pubs or cafés and antique shops or for visiting the castle. Yes of course there are a few drawbacks with the site but there are always comprises with any site you visit. We found the facilities acceptable and yes the site was full and busy, but wherever we go we always adjust our use of the facilities to suit. The site is what it is and it's very unlikely that any more land will come available. We'll done the club!

Great site in ideal location

Excellent location, great friendly wardens who are very knowledgeable of the local area Super dog walk next to site Up hill walk to town which is definitely worth a visit., downhill back to site. Buses outside site Only downside the shower block is too small for the site when full but apart from that excellent over site.

Close to Town, ideal Stop Over, very friendly Wardens / Staff

Clean however pretty seasoned facilities could do with a make up. Only one sink to wash dishes and, being right next to the grey water disposal drain and the chemical toilet disposal is not necessarily optimal but could be easily improved. Still, we will call in again. P.S. potty that some of the dog owners let they’re dog pie against the water tap pipe’s and the support pole at the reception, this is however is not Warwick specific, it happens on other sites as well, we often wish that the pet owners which obey the rules would remind their follow pet owners to be considered.

Substandard site but handy for the town

We have stayed at Warwick site many times due to its proximity to the town and always find the wardens very pleasant. It is a very basic site with many uneven pitches and hardstandings next to the race course are just on a tarmac car park with EHU. The few hardstanding pitches on the site itself are ok. Many of the grass pitches are are uneven and do get waterlogged in bad weather. Toilets and showers are barely adequate (there were queues for ladies & gents every day while we were there). There is also only one dishwashing sink. The advantage to this site is that it is only a few minutes walk to the town which has many small shops and plenty of coffee shops & eateries. It is only a short drive (or a bus trip) to the towns of Stratford, Kenilworth, Leamington etc. Its a good site for short stays as long as you don't expect the usual high standards of most CMC sites.

Good site for walks and city visit

Stayed for five nights in caravan. We were located in the copse in the middle of the site - excellent - clean - plenty of grass - quiet. Wardens very helpful and the facilites were A1. I am not so sure that I would want to stay alongside the periphery of the racetrack. This would be on hardstanding - gave me the impression of being in a parking lot with a line up of motorhomes along the periphery of the race course. The site is centrally located in the middle of the racecourse and surrounded by it. The racecourse is on the periphery of Warwick. It has a lot of open accessible land in the centre of the course. The city is reachable easily by walking and the Castle, River, Town, Large Park and Grand Union Canal are all within walkable distance. Bus station close by with services to most of the surrounding region. A very nice location and dog owners have plently of space in which to walk their dogs. I would definately recomend the site for a visit to the area - easy access to Warwick and surrounding areas. Plenty to see and do.

The staff are BRILLIANT!!

Well all I can say is that although I barely used the physical facilities except for water and EHU my experience with the staff was absolutely brilliant! Had a bit of a major crisis when staying there.. I lost the keys to my MH! Well I was in a bit of a panic and approached the staff for assistance... (im ashamed to say that I never noted down their names! Sorry!)well they pretty much took over, calming me right down and then methodically ringng first Sainsbury's, and went down there to fetch some keys which turned out not to be mine, before contacting the police.... I meanwhile being the pessimist (compared to their optimism) started trying to organise with a courier to send my spare et down from home c/o a neighbour. Was just about to finalise this when the lady came across and said that her partner was already on his way to Leamington Spa police station where they thought they had my keys.. postponed organisation of courier and tried to chill and wait... within 20 minutes the gentleman was back... clutching my keys! Never been so relieved in my life! They were an extremely nice couple who went out of their way in my crisis and I will always be very grateful for that. Additionally the site was perfect for walking my dog alongside my mobility scooter (very few places where you can accommodate both but Warwick hit the nail on the head) I just wanted to stay longer and will definitely be back , maybe for the races? You would get a brilliant view of the action from inside your MH if parked on one of the course frontage plots! Thank you SO much to the staff at Warwick!
