Well worth a visit.

We use the site to visit our daughter who lives in the area as there is little alternative nearby but we would use it for holidays if she did not live there. The site is typical club layout although on the side of a modest hill with mostly near flat pitches. There is some road noise near the top of the site but nothing to worry us. The wardens were pleasant and helpful and we have absolutely no criticism of the site or staff. It is easy to access but you do have a lot of traffic on a fairly complex junction to get to it, so do follow the instructions carefully and a look at Google Earth first would help. The house is well worth a visit and there is plenty to do in the area so if you have not tried it I would give it a go.

An excellent site but spoilt by overzealous warden

This is a lovely well kept site. Within the grounds of a National Trust house and large grounds. Excellent for walking the dog. Supermarket within an easy walk. Easy access to Cardiff and its attractions. However warden is very rule conscientious so beware! Told off for not following the rules about splitters at 0900 one morning. Didn't let it spoil our stay although we couldn't find any club rules banning them. Removed the offending device. On leaving I did query where was this rule to be told there wasn't one but they didn't approve of them and the club should have one!!

Lovely site

I’ve been here a few times now. First being New Year’s Eve this year. I love the facilities around the site. The huge field to walk my dogs, supermarket is walking distance and the site is just an hour from home. I’m not sure if there’s a problem with pitch 70 as I was told to move my van, which I did but I then wasn’t parked the same as the other vehicles... think the peg had been moved.. anyway it didn’t spoil my stay. I did as I was told as no drama. Will definitely go back

Short Stay to Visit Friends

We booked three nights, 8-11 Aug, at Tredegar as we wanted to visit friends who live nearby. Pleasantly surprised when we arrive as not the usual type of site we would use. Very welcoming wardens and obviously time been taken to make the entrance look lovely. Toilets and showers a bit dated but spotless. The wardens always seem to be busy tidying etc, even in the quite bad rain and gales we had this weekend. Plenty of walking round the vast parkland that the site is attached to. There is road noise as mentioned bottom of site better, but that's the price you pay for being so handy for the M4, talking of which the roundabouts entering and leaving the site we found the lanes quite confusing and hard to follow, hard when the roads are busy, and everyone except you knows where they are going😃! Probably won't return here, not because there is anything wrong with the site at all, just served its purpose for us this time, but we prefer more rural sites, but I know others will enjoy the place.

Enjoyable stay

We stayed here for two nights, a lovely little site. We were able to walk to a nearby pub & there was a supermarket within walking distance. We visited Tredegar House which part of the National Trust. All in all an enjoyable stay.

First impressions.

This was our first visit here-we think there will be many more to come! Yes, as mentioned before, there is some road noise if you pitch at the top of the site, but we did not find it kept us awake. If you are a light sleeper, stay nearer the bottom end of the site. We used the Cardiff East park n' ride, (X59 bus), into the centre of Cardiff, which we thought excellent value at £5.50 return for vehicle and 2 people. Also,no height barriers to impede access for motorhomes. Cardiff is full of little shopping arcades, with individual shops, as well as all the normal High Street names. The castle is fabulous, and well worth paying the little extra for the guided tour, which allows you into extra rooms not included in the standard ticket. We didn't make it to the Principality Stadium due to the excessive heat whilst we were there-another reason to return. We met some lovely local people on site who also gave us some recommendations of other places to visit nearby, so more reasons to return. One final thing, the directions to the site from the M4 are muddled and confusing to say the least! From reading many other comments in the site visitor book, it was not just us who had problems getting to site. Sat nav and Club handbook directions are wrong and there are several "New Road Layout" signs at the side of the roads. The best advice is to follow the National Trust signs for Tredegar House and Country Park-that will definitely get you there! Maybe the Club's navigation team need to re-visit this one?

A well kept site in a great location.

The site is just off the M4 so convenient to reach and while there is some road noise it is not intrusive. It is close to Newport and Cardiff. The site is in a country park adjoining the National Trust run Tredegar House. The house and gardens have been improved since the trust took them over and there are plenty to interest all age groups. The site is well maintained with mature trees and flowers. The wardens are welcoming and maintain the site and facilities to a high standard. The location and facilities means it is a popular site and busy particularly when there are events or sports on in Cardiff. The only disappointment on this trip was the slow and unreliable Wi-fi.

Great location.

Fantastic setting in large national trust park land. Great for our dog who loved running around the park and around the lakes which are adjacent to the site. Site is very well kept and although parts of the shower/toilet block were out of order at various times as refurbishment was taking place, we were kept up to date with which ones we could use. Yvonne and Lawrence were great and suggested the next site for us to go to on our tour around Wales. Sadly it was full but we will keep it mind for next time. Thank you 😊

Bac Again

A great site in the grounds of Tredegar House, so many quiet walks around, especially when everyone has left the park. Worth a visit round the house, really interesting, also a NT restaurant for lunch but get there early if its the weekend. Well placed for visiting Cardiff but M4 is a nightmare and now they have stopped the M4 link which would have taken much of the traffic south of Newport & Tredegar House. Site can be noisy with traffic nearby. Spent 3 nights here last weekend when the Ladies Toilet block was having the floors remade, I really think they need more than just the floors!!! We were all having to use the 'Mens', not good on a full site, I believe we should have been given a discount. I do understand the work has to be done to maintain standards but doing the floor is only part of a refurbishment which is needed so why isn't this done during the quieter month, winter! The wardens certainly have their work cut out keeping the grounds looking so smart and always have time to have a friendly chat. Members complain about the noise of the equipment they use but they have to make noise to keep the site looking good, so keep it up.
