We've just come back from a wonderful week. The Wardens were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The adjacent park land was great for walking. Occasional road noise but didn't cause any problems. Ideally located for exploring in to Newport and Cardiff and the surrounding area. Only downside was the WiFi, was rubbish and they need to get it sorted and upgraded for this modern age.
This is a fairly compact site but it is close to A48 and on parts of the site you will get road noise. The site is well tended and COVID precautions are in place. Access to the toilet facilities is for 2 people at a time (though there are 3 pegs outside the door!) and so wait time can be long but everything is marked out well on where to stand. Access is a bit fiddly especially if you arrive after 4pm currently. The park gates are locked at 4pm and you'll have to call/walk down to get a key to open them if you arrive after this time. Once on site you get your own key and can come and go as you please
Perhaps not the most secure site - signs up warning about thefts.
Wardens were friendly and helpful.
Location is good for Cardiff
I stayed here for one night during a working photography trip to Newport and Cardiff. I wished I could have stayed longer. The location is lovely, set in parkland by the National Trust property Tredegar House.
The team were friendly and welcoming and explained the COVID-19 changes very clearly. There was a little bit of traffic noise but that's inevitable given its location. The park is still peaceful but it's not a rural retreat where all you hear is wind and birdsong. You need to be further away from the city for that.
Having really enjoyed my one night at the Baltic Wharf site in Bristol last year, I'm now a fan of these well-appointed urban parks.
The site was perfect for us. We met our family in the N.Trust car park and had a picnic in the park. We'll definitely be back.
The site was really good and all the staff we met were helpful and pleasant. Well Done.
We stayed here in July. Lovely site, felt nice and peaceful, although you could hear traffic noise. It has a good layout. Next door to the Tredegar NT Country Park. There is no playground for children on site, but there is one in the country park (not open whilst we were there). Children were able to cycle around the next door park of an evening, great place for an evening walk. We enjoyed our visit, the weather was great, we did not venture off site at all apart for a visit to the nearby mini market for ice creams! Asda is within walking distance. Fish and chip shop near mini market (we did not try it).
This is a great site. The pitches are spacious but the large bits of loose clinker make them uncomfortable under foot and as I’ve slipped and injured myself on them at a previous visit, I’m very cautious of them. But we love this site it’s small and homely.
First experience of a caravan and motorhome club site since we purchased our caravan.
Facilities were excellent. Kept spotlessly clean.
Reception were helpful and friendly.
Perfect location and beautiful setting.
Booked 2 nights, stayed an extra one.
Prices fairly high I thought at around £30 per night.
Would definitely visit again. Hopefully on a midweek deal price.
Had a great weekend here while visiting Cardiff for the rugby, the only issue came when trying to ascertain when the ‘National Trust’ gate leading to the site was unlocked in the morning. The time at which it is locked is posted in large print on the information sheet, and everyone is provided with a key to allow one to come and go, but nothing about when it is unlocked for the day, we couldn’t find any other information around reception in the morning either, so we drove down the lane, found it open, turned around and left the key at the reception.
Of course I should have ascertained this information earlier but it might be helpful to have the time displayed somewhere.
The rating of 3 in the ‘Good for families’ field is because it’s a required field even if one has no family in attendance, so I went middle of the road.
Friendly and welcoming staff, who clearly explained everything to us. The site seemed to be fairly busy with other caravans and motorhomes, but it was very quiet and peaceful. Dog friendly, which was a must for us. I think the site only has one toilet block, which I imagine might be very busy at peak times, especially as they close them for cleaning at 10.30am. The site is in a nice area, even though it's close to a main road, and it was easy to find. Overall, we give it 10/10, and will use it again if we're back in that area.
