Lovely open site

Spotlessly clean. Friendly wardens. Very spacious pitches. Lots of room. Tricky to find until you understand the roundabout layout. Make sure you are in the correct lane! Walk to see Tredegar House, very interesting. Lovely grounds with lake and children's playground. Pubs and restaurants only really accessible by car. Gates locked at night, good security. Lots to see and do locally. Most attractions we visited, Big Pit etc. were free entry! Only downside is that camp shop does not supply newspapers.

Pity about the surroundings.

Stayed for a week in Aug 2016, terrific staff and beautifully kept grounds/facilities. The whole place is let down by the background noise which is unbearable, the locals from the nearby huge Duffryn estate (Google it and count the burnt out cars/trolleys in the river/smashed bottles...) love their noisy motorcycles. This attracts plenty of sirens as if you are in a riot. The background noise of the M4 is nothing by comparison, if you try it sounds a bit like the seashore.....honest it does,. I would return but only overnight if we were going that way again. We cycled the advertised 14 locks route, the start is a bit dodgy- do not go alone! (that estate again) but the next 5 miles are good. Rather than coming back the same way follow the heritage trail back without going over the same ground. (10 Miles total instead of 14). We also did the 4 waterfalls trek, well worth the effort- and it is a bit of effort. Cardiff pool also very good if you want a good leisure pool for children.

It served a purpose

The wardens here were very good and kept the site clean. We used the site to go to a function in Newport otherwise would not have booked here, as we have been here about 10 years ago. It is too close to the M4 for us, a very noisy site. Police cars and other response vehicles not to mention helicopters kept waking us up!,we were glad to get home for a sleep after this weekend.

Fantastic site!

The site at Tredegar house is perfectly located for visiting Cardiff whilst it's M4 proximity means we were also able to quickly access both Caerleon and Caldicot castle (a lovely free day out) and St Fagans (another great free day out). The site itself is clean, quiet and the wardens were excellent - personally checking on the safe storage of our bikes. We were pleased to find that we were able to choose our own pitch, although on our next visit we may choose one slightly further away from the busy road that is the other side of the hedge. Everyone we met was polite, friendly and clearly enjoying the beautiful location. Tredegar house is a stunning national trust property and well worth visiting! We were also pleased that, although ball games were not permitted on the caravan site, we had easy access to the parkland which included space for ball games as well as a small park.  This is an excellent caravan club site that we will definitely be returning to!

Lovely site

We recently spent 4 nights here.  We thought the site was very good.  The Assistant Wardens were very friendly & helpful. ( We didn't come into contact with the Wardens.). It is a very clean, well kept site.  The flowers were very attractive & colourful.  We enjoyed tours around the house as NT members it is free. We Cycled to Newport to explore the Transporter Bridge, the town & the canal centre.  It is also an easy walk to Asda, so no need to drive out.  Buses are available nearby to Cardiff & Newport.

Good Location

Stayed for 2 nights on the way to France in July and stayed for 3 nights on the way home in August. Clean site in a good location. Bus stop not far from the camp with buses running into Newport and Cardiff at regular intervals. The camp is next door to Ty Tredegar, which belongs to the National Trust, it's well worth a visit. Lovely park next to the camp for children to play. The wardens are very friendly and helpful.

Quick Break

Decided to visit site rather than returning straight home. It was a lovely site, friendly wardens and situated in a lovely area. Would liked to have staid longer but site was fully booked (not surprised). Will definitely be returning to this site to explore the sea more fully.

Our first site in Wales

Two retired campers and a dog, we arrived from the south coast in our motorhome after an easy drive. The facilities were beautiful clean and the space where could exercise our Labradoodle was extensive and safe. We visited Cardiff using public transport, an easy trip (once we'd found the bus stop). Ask directions, ignore Google Maps ! Staff were friendly and helpful answering the sort of question that they must have heard many times with humour and care.

good holiday

We booked at tredegar house for six nights with our motorhome and ended up staying another five nights, the camp site site was clean through out and well looked after. We cannot thank the wardens enough Debbie and Gerry Wallbank and also Gail and Alan Stanley, they gave us a warm and friendly welcome and helped when we asked. the entrance to the site was magificent with the array of hanging baskets  and flowers all around, the grounds of the house ideal for people with dogs lots of walks, also the lakes with all the ducks fish heron and more. I would recommend this site to anyone and enjoy the stay. One downfall the area has especially for the site people is lack of shops on the site for food, even though there is a small shop that sells some food and a fish shop nearby and a cafe and also traffic noise, but these are minor.  We would surely visit this site again, and of course i need to say the local pub about 400 yards away 'The Dragonfly' do meals and a 10% discount for club members if you show your card, good saving on a family meal there. And once again a big thankyou to the Wardens.
