A Lovely Site

Stayed over the August Bank holiday weekend - site was full, but still appeared quiet. Wardens very friendly, site clean and tidy, pitches level and plenty of space for Car, Caravan + Awning. Yes, there is some road noise and the occasional boy racer or ambulance - but it's not that bad. Only change I'd make would be a 2nd Toilet block - with one of the male showers out of action (of 4) queues were forming in the mornings. Tredegar House (NT) next door is great and has expansive grounds for the kids (and not kids) to run around in - together with a small playground and less than a 5 minute walk from the site. Asda just down the road (24hr) and easy access from J28 of the M5 makes this a great site.

What a great site.

We stayed here for 14 nights (14-28 Aug. '16), We will be back again, a gem of a site. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and they keep the toilet block and grounds to a very high standard. Yes there is some road noise, but not so much as to be intrusive. A lot of wild life in and around the site, and a large play area in the park next door. Pity the 5mph speed limit is not kept to by some, as there were a lot of young kids riding their bikes. Can't wait to return, one of the best CC sites we've been to in 20+ years membership.

Fantastic Site

We have returned from a 10 night stay here and loved it. We could hear some road noise but it was not intrusive. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities were very clean all the time. I would highly recommend this site to anyone

Lovely Site

Stopped off at Tredegar House for 3 days on way to West Country as wanted to go to Cardiff Bay that we had heard was worth a visit now that it's been redeveloped. Good location and easy to find although the final yards up to the entrance are narrow and suggest that the CC makes it arrivals after 1.00pm to avoid the queue up the barrier. We arrived 20 mins early as the roads were quiet and there were several outfits in front of us stopped before the barrier that we didn't see until we were in the narrow entrance road and this made it difficult for people leaving the site close to the 12.00 deadline and blocked the entrance to the visitors carpark. Some noise can be heard from the M4 motorway but this is to be expected due to the site location. The site is kept in great condition by the wardens and the toilets blocks were always up to the usual CC standards. The grounds at Tredegar House are superb for walking around, especially if you have a dog and the cafe is well worth stopping at during your walk. The Bristol Channel is only approx. 3 miles away and you can park in the Lighthouse Inn car park, (for a small charge), to walk down the footpath above the beach. If you decide to visit Cardiff Bay and follow the signs from the M4 motorway it's a big diversion as the approach is from the west. Although the road is almost all dual carriageway off the motorway, it's probably better to put up with some traffic and queues and take the direct route in from the east. This was our first visit to Tredegar House and we will certainly visit again, probably on the way to South Wales.

Good but frustrating !

We stayed for 6 days in August, overall our stay was very pleasant although the weather was not kind to us. The site was very clean and the location was good. Our only grumbles would be, the facilities were not adequate for the size of the site. Also, the television reception was very poor, this could have been due to the bad weather conditions ( but that's the time time when you need the T.V) for two nights we had to turn it off all together, outside aerial points would solve the problem ans they have on other caravan club sites.

Enjoyable Stay

We stayed here for 4 nights in August. The site is clean and well laid out with friendly wardens. There is a background road noise although it was bearable. The site is good for going into Newport and Cardiff. The swimming pool at Newport was great for the children with a slide and wave pool. Cardiff currently have some rides in the bay. We did the waterfalls walk - well worth it! It is considered a more difficult 5 mile walk, we did it with two children age 11 and 9 with no problem. If you want to go behind the waterfall, make sure you have waterproofs for your legs as well as jacket. It is well worth the journey and a lot of fun. We stopped off at the distillery on the way back and made some tasty purchases.  Overall an enjoyable stay that we all enjoyed.

Lovely open site

Spotlessly clean. Friendly wardens. Very spacious pitches. Lots of room. Tricky to find until you understand the roundabout layout. Make sure you are in the correct lane! Walk to see Tredegar House, very interesting. Lovely grounds with lake and children's playground. Pubs and restaurants only really accessible by car. Gates locked at night, good security. Lots to see and do locally. Most attractions we visited, Big Pit etc. were free entry! Only downside is that camp shop does not supply newspapers.
