Lovely site and wonderful wardens

Lovely site which is one of our favourites. Really friendly and helpful wardens. Neat and tidy pitches. Love the closeness to the park. Great cycle rides from site. Great food at Dragonfly Inn within walking distance. Have stayed previously and will keep visiting.

Shame about the road noise

This is the 2nd time we have visited this site as we were visiting friends, 1st time in 2010, there was considerable siren noise from emergency vehicles, it was almost all through the evening & night then, the wardens this time did mention that a hospital was close so it explains some of the sirens, whilst they are needed for safety, I did see/hear some going past whilst out walking, with no real need for them to be on, however it was much better this time, also be aware that if parked up near the wall it is adjacent to the A48 and noisy, we found a better spot lower down this time this time and it was bearable. The saving grace which makes the site worth staying on are the friendly wardens and the great access to the park and the wood shop.

The speed of some vehicles is excessive on the site, I assume as it is open to non members they don't feel obliged to take notice, 1 motor bike rider came down the road on 2 occassions at about 30mph, when I said something to him, he just shrugged his shoulders and mouthed so what, I assume he was on the tent pitches.

Needs updating

This is a lovely site, with access to walking in Tredegar Park. The wardens are friuendly and helpful, and do there best to keep everything clean and well maintained. Unfortunately the facilities leave a lot to be desired, they seriously need updating. Whilst we were there one toilet was not in use in the ladies for the whole visit, the hairdryer was broken, one of the showers had a split in the floor, which is far from hygienic, and there is only one wash hand basin by the toilets. Considering the price paid foir this site, I was not happy. It is a very noisy site, with motorway and A road passing the site, it doesn't bother some people, but I couldn't sleep well, even with earplugs in. I'm sorry to be so negative, I usually love caravan club sites, but there is also a problem with speeding on site too, it needs to be addressed before there is an accident.

A surprising amount to see and do

The only downside to this site for me was the late evening/night noise from the local roads (mostly fast motorbikes) and the M4. This, in part, must be to do with our pitch location which was close to the boundary wall alongside a main feeder road and I guess our VW camper van is not as well insulated as a caravan or large motor home. However, my wife slept well and we booked an extra two night while there because the site facilities, location and wardens were so good, plus there was plenty to see and do locally and further afield. The no.30 bus to Cardiff was handy as were the busses into Newport, but remember, only Welsh bus passes are valid for free travel for the over 60s. We'd visit again and would recommend it to our friends but maybe try for a quieter pitch next time.

Within National Trust Grounds

A lovely site, well maintained and as always, nice wardens.  Set within grounds of a National trust property.  Great for walking the dog.

Great site for visiting South Wales

This is a really nice site set in the lovely grounds of Tredegar House. Lots of walks on your doorstep, a quick walk to the nearby Asda supermarket and there are bus routes to Cardiff and Newport right on your doorstep. Easy to visit Bristol on the train from Newport as well. Tredegar house is worth a visit also (NT). The wardens are the friendliest I have come across at a Caravan Club site, they all keep the site spotlessly clean and were always happy to help. Will definitely stay again to explore further along the coast.

A brilliant place to stay.

We enjoyed 4 nights at this site and it is in a beautiful setting. The site is well looked after by the staff, the toilet/shower block are spotless. My only complaint is that we couldn't put our awning up as the ground was so hard for metal pegs.We bought some screw in pegs but to no avail, we managed without the awning in the end. This will not put us off staying here again as we have friends who live nearby so its location is perfect for us.Tredegar house and grounds are well worth a visit.

wonderful site

This site is beautifully positioned within the grounds of Tredegar House and offers pleasant strolls around the area. The house is certainly worth a visit. The wardens should be praised for the immaculate cleanliness of the facilities and their welcome to the site although as a previous reviewer mentioned, the loss of a toilet cubicle is a real downside when the site is full. Access to the Brecon beacons and coastal attractions further west along the M4 is simple and give ample time for days out. Would certainly recommend this site to anyone thinking of visiting Wales.

Consistently very good.

This site is very convenient for South Wales and easy to find from the M4. This is a very tranquil site and has a really good vibe. The amenity block is immaculately kept at all times. The Wardens Gail and Alan are running a great site and their Assistants Debbie and Gerry are clearly assets to the club. Thank you.
