A warm welcome

On arrival we had a warm welcome off of the Wardens. The site is clean & tidy with great size pitches. A bit of road noise at night, but to be expected for this great location within the grounds ov Tredegar House.

New Years Break

good access and friendly knowledgeable wardens, check in was straight forward. When we arrived we were given a choice of pitches, which were large & level. We chose our pitch & set up. The toilet block was lovely & warm (as it was freezing outside) clean and well maintained, (even though site was full) as were all the service points. The National trust park, area was really nice and great for the dogs, also it had a children's play area, location was great for exploring, we went to the Mumbles one day (well worth it) and Swansea also for one day, we could recommend Spice for an Indian takeaway which wasn't far to drive, we also went to the Dragonfly Pub, a couple of times, which is a Vintage Inn with a standard Vintage Inn menu, and it was good. Asda is within walking distance (about 15 mins on Pavement) and other supermarkets are also only a short drive away if you desire.TV signal was a bit hit & miss due to the trees,Internet was fine (CC) There was some road noise as in previous reviews but not too bad. Overall we spent 5 days here over the new year, and i would recommend the site, which was full for most of the time we were there

Delightful couple of days

I recently upgraded my caravan and as I live within 10 miles of the site decided to use it to set up the caravan.the wardens were excellent and very helpful I have to say.i ended up extending a 1 night stay to 4 nights. The beagle loved the surrounding grounds and met loads of fellow dogs taking a break with their caravan owners.Had a delightful few days ,nothing but good to say about the site.will revisit even though it's a stone's throw away .

Fantastic

Great site. Great wardens..spotless toilets..great for walking..large supermarket very close.small amount of traffic noise from m4..access after dark is a bit of a pain in the rain; 2 gates to open, but not the end of the world. Had a great stay and will return.

Tredegar House

This site is a very good one that is kept immaculate and the staff very helpful and friendly.  It is ideally situated for so many Welsh activities. Tredegar House itself has a lovely park to walk round for free.  There is a bus ?? to Cardiff and Newport. Don't miss the Transport Bridge and The Roman Baths, museums in Wales are free.  Plenty for children and just of junction the M4 an ideal stop just into Wales.  Can't recommend enough ...

Warm welcome

Second time we have been on this site this year.  Just one night this time, on our way back from Bath but we received a very warm welcome from the Wardens.  The site is ideally situated not far from the M4 , although the roundabout system getting on and off the M4 is not for the faint hearted!  We relied on our Snooper!  We paid a visit to Tredegar house while we were there which is decorated for Christmas and well worth a visit for all ages.  We look forward to going back to Tredegar site next year.  In the meantime, Happy Christmas to all the wardens working at the moment!

Great for City Break

We wanted to visit family and friends in Cardiff, and the location of this site was ideal. It's very easy to find from the M4 although there is constant noise from the motorway as a compromise. This did not ruin our stay. There are good walks around the grounds, especially for dog walkers. The site is very clean and tidy, as we have come to expect. The pitches are spacious, and the wardens are friendly. Cardiff is well worth a visit when staying here. We will return.

Excellent - for the most part!

We have been members of the Caravan Club for some years and have come to expect very high standards whenever we visit one of their sites. And Tredegar Country House site is of the usual level in that the site is beautifully kept, the facilities being kept clean and tidy. Whenever the facilities are being cleaned, usually when we wanted to go off site, there was always alternatives on offer. Good!! And the wardens, especially Alan and his winter replacement (Sorry, I didn't find out his name but he knew Newport very well), were very helpful and friendly. Great! But ... there really is some A48 road noise that is constantly present, although you do get used to it - until you become aware of it again! What really upset us though was the recommended cycle route around Tredegar House. We went to this site purposely to go on this ride, expecting to go around the house as well as some interesting cycling around the town of Newport to a canal centre. Well, it took us through some of the roughest parts of Newport, along streets where there were burnt out mattresses on the pavement we were to cycle along and wheelie bins in our way. Then we went through industrial areas that really weren't "interesting" or pleasant. Not like we were expecting. When we got to the canal, it was completely different, it being fascinating to cycle between the canal and M4 far below. When we arrived at the canal centre, we didn't fancy going back the 7 miles through town as recommended by the route but were shown by the canal centre a much better route back. Now we were told that the Caravan Club only took on this route because it was suggested / recommended by Sustrans. Well, my recommendation is for the Caravan Club to actually try out the routes they are going to recommend before they take them on. As a result, we decided to go home one day early which is a shame as the site itself as I say was really lovely. I suggest you recommend something else to attract members to your site.
