Great site and a good location

First time we have been to this site and not disappointed.  Wardens helpful and friendly. Facilities were the usual very high standards of the CC. Lovely meadow dog walk with distant views of the castle. 20 minute pleasant walk into town, had fantastic fish n chips. Nice drink in the Sunny courtyard behind the Three Horseshoes. Lovely visit to the castle and nice little local shops with good food.

Glad to have visited this perfect site.

This site is excellent, the wardens are friendly, helpful and efficient, the site is immaculately maintained and the impressive facilities were spotless. The location is close to the historic town, but still affords peace and tranquility What more could you ask for.

one of the best

We are quite regular visitors for a reason - this is one of the best sites on the network, especially location and facilities. The fact it is a relatively easy walk into Barnard Castle is a huge asset of the site. There are fantastic offroad running (or walking) routes from the site, including both sides of the River Tees. The road cycling from the site offers quiet roads with lots of choice of route and difficulty. Perfect. It is sensible, where possible, to choose a pitch away from the road. On our last visit we were greeted by the relief wardens who were friendly and welcoming. We'll be back before too long.

Very noisy site

The site is okay for a one night stopover but that is all as the road noise is unbearable. The wardens were not at all welcoming or helpful we were treated as if we were an inconvenience the toilet/shower facilities are excellent very clean and new, if you stay on this site make sure you are as far away from the road as possible although the view over the prison isn't very inspiring! Not really up to the usual Caravan club site expectations. We wouldn't stay there again in a hurry.

A great site for exploring Teesdale & Weardale.

This is the second stay we have had at this site, it is well laid out with a spotless toilet block and good site facilities. The wardens were friendly and welcoming and this with the addition of the twice weekly mobile Fish & Chip shop all helped to make this a great site. It should be mentioned that we had a serviced pitch which is nearer to the road than most of the standard pitches and the road noise may be disturbing to some people. The walk into the town using the riverside walk was a joy, last visit was at the end of the season and the path was not passable due to wet weather and a landslip. Middleton in Teesdale is a short drive and High Force is definitely worth a visit. Overall this is a great location and a drive over the top to Stanhope in Weardale makes a pleasant day out. We look forward to another visit!

Tranquil

This is the first time we have visited this site. Very impressed with the facilities. Spotless shower/ toilets. Wardens were very friendly and helpful.  Walked into Barnard Castle along by the river which took about 20mins. There was a good variety of shops and cafes. Market day on a Wednesday.  Would definitely recommend this campsite and will return.

Great site for exploring Barnard Castle

Wardens were very friendly, helpful and keep this new site immaculate. Great site for exploring Barnard Castle, 1km walk away down and up the hills. We did have some road noise (but it tells you that in the description) and the sight of YOI Deepbolt doesn't mean you get that countryside, "away from it all" feel, although the countryside on your doorstep is astounding.

First visit

A wonderful site exceeding usual Caravan Club standards, well done to wardens for keeping the site spotless in all areas. Excellent facilities for dogs on site and surrounding areas A pleasant walk to Barnard Castle despite woodland walk being out of use due to land slip Would definateley recommend this site as plenty to see in surrounding area as well
