A step back into the past!

Loved this place. We spent a week there. No railway, motorway or road noise. Cursed the satnav that sent me down a small country lane, not the one to the site itself. So check the map carefully for B roads when towing. Use the main road into the town. ...........Men's toilets were a nightmare. Showers were old and outdated - get to the showers early. 4 toilet cubicles for men. FOUR!!!! So get up early or leave it late during high season, ............or risk standing cross-legged waiting for a warm seat to sit on. Lovely........ Badly needs a revamp!!........Very helpful staff and a lovely sheltered situation. Great beach nearby and visit the Farmer Brown's Ice cream farm shop out of town near the coast for cream tea - cakes at good prices. .....Visit : Boating lake and seal sanctuary nearby. If you want to go back 30 years, visit the amusements in town, the paddling pools at the towns centre in Sutton and Mablethorpe, both free enjoy the play areas and the bathing huts on the promenade. Had a great time once I had traversed the shower block issues.

Pleasant stay

My wife and I spent five nights at this pleasant little site. The wardens were polite and helpful and the general condition is a credit to them. The toilet block is in need of an upgrade/refurbishment as it does not reach the standards normally enjoyed at other sites. Some of the roadways within the site are also in need of repair or resurfacing, that said the general appearance with the the trees and grass in excellent condition was of a well cared for site. I agree with the problem of children on bicycles flying around the site well into the evening and riding at speed against the one-way arrows as well as across the grass and onto the roads without looking for either vehicles of people. I must have heard the wardens speak to the kids numerous times in an effort to control them, but heard a parent reply with a torrent of abuse. Are these people club members I wonder? or is it a sign of the times. An enjoyable stay with visits to the horrendous Mablethorpe as well as Skegness. All we can say about those places are that we've been there and will not be back. Sutton is a quiet pleasant little place to visit, but do not expect too much of it.

First time to Sutton-on-Sea

Our journey to Site took approx. 4 hours and we were pleased to arrive wardens friendly and welcoming, weather the whole week was wonderful a bonus as we had our dog with us so we had plenty of walks on the beach, dog walk around the site is very good. Site was very busy at the time of our stay as it was Tennis week and showers and toilets were not left as they should be by some users. The Wardens were brilliant and having to deal with problems that they should'nt have to especially in the evenings i.e. children flying around on bikes, scooters etc. late into evening 9.00ish  We know it's the school holidays and unfortunately these things happen on all sites. It's a beautiful site and the wardens work hard keeping grass and site clean and tidy. Will be visiting again.

Not recommended in the school holidays

Me and my husband were caravaning with 3grandsons. The boys loved it , I thought the facilities  where in adequate at times another toilet block would be helpful . The children tearing around the site on bikes was an accident waiting to happen  In fact one almost knocked my 3year old grandson  over  without apology rode off  . We were at the site for 5 nights by the time we left we were sick of other people's children  leaving the showers and toilets like a swimming pool . A lovely site but don't go in the children's summer holidays .

Nice little site close to the sea

This is a nice little site with a friendly and helpful warden. It's less than a ten minute cycle to the seafront, and probably around 15 minutes to walk. The toilets were relatively clean, but there are not that many for the amount of pitches. The showers were good, but, again, in busy periods they may want more. I would recommend it for a short break.

Not for me

Unusual to go on a site 1.5hrs after "opening time" and find only 3 pitches available-but I suspect this was down to school holidays and what appeared to be a very relaxed exit and entry time system-however the one toilet block though very clean to start just can not support this amount of people on site and within hours looked and smelt awful the wardens do a fantastic job but it really needs cleaning multiple times and club members also need to start respecting the facilities a little more as clearly some issues revolved around people not the facilities. The Wi-Fi reception was awful even though we were only 15ft from a repeater mast-unable to cope with the very simplest of tasks on a tablet. Sorry I know its school holidays and children must play but how no one gets knocked off their bike is a miracle-blatant disregard for the one way system and some cars travelling way in excess of the site speed limits is a recipe for disaster. Ok if you have dogs though, again a little unconventional with the walk being off site and again club members do need to take cleaning up after their dog more seriously we have dogs and are appalled at the lack of respect by those people that don't clear up after their pet. In many years of caravanning on cc sites this is the only one we have come away from with the firm promise that we doubt we will return.I believe it could be so much better but it needs some serious investment and more thought behind the pitch layouts especially the ones off the perimeter roads.

Well worth a visit and a revisit

I rarely return to sites as have been a camper van owner for only 3.5 years and there is so much choice and so many places to see. I first visited Sutton on Sea Site in April and fell in love with it. Really friendly staff, beautiful setting, plenty of room and handy for the beach. I have just come back from another visit, this time with my 15 year old nephew. Much busier as it was school holidays but, essentially, the same lovely site. I will be returning (probably again and again)

family paradise

Stay for 4 nights. The site was spotless the grounds and facilities. Beautiful entrance with hangings basket s and planters. The children had an amazing time riding their bikes and closer enough to walk to the beach. Will be back

Lovely friendly site

Stayed for the weekend and found this site to be nicely set out, friendly wardens etc.  I think the toilet block was looking a bit tired and could do with upgrading but it was always clean. Sutton on Sea is a small, quaint seaside town.  Lovely beach with access for dogs at the Sandilands end. About 30 minute walk from the site to this bit of beach. Try Dolphins for delicious fish and chips in Sutton. Not far from Skegness or Mablethorpe. Would recommend for families as nice little playground for kids.
