Our first Caravan club site stay. Our first problem was finding the site as our GPS took us to Crabtree lane but there is a Caravan club Certified site at this location also, so we pulled in to get off of the narrow road, thinking that this was the site. Unfortunately it was not and we had to unhitch the van to enable us to turn around and get out of the wrong site. The actual site is only 50 yards further along the road and we thought that a sign would be good to let visitors know that the main site entrance was ahead? We chose this site as it said "The site is conveniently located within walking distance of shops and places to eat." Well the local hotel come golf 19th hole is about 15min walk and we did see another pub come local store a couple of mins down the road but the local beach has nothing and the actual town with shops is about 1.5 miles and a fair walk away. So not much choice for a evening walk for a meal, local takeaways do offer a delivery service however. As for the site it is quiet, tidy and well laid out. We pitched in a space backing onto Crabtree Lane which did have some early traffic which is a bit of a shock as it was so quiet all night. We also heard the bird scarers from the local farm. Unfortunately we found the showers to be a bit inconvenient. This is mainly due to the poor number of small hooks to hang clothes. The shower head is also unmovable so when you turn on the shower it soaks the small change area unless you have the curtain closed. This is great if you already know this but one usually likes to stand back from the shower until a pleasant temperature is set. With a wet floor it is not possible to get dressed without soggy trousers! We would also comment that although our sat nav told us to turn Left when leaving the site a sign recommending a right turn for caravans would be helpful as getting off of the narrow road to let local cars through can be a bumpy wet and muddy experience. The site has a shed with lots of local information which is very good.
This is a really lovely well-kept site. We stayed over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was full, (apart from the grass pitches which weren't available), and it was still peaceful with no big queues for the toilet block. The site is an easy walk to the beach, (20-30 minutes depending on your speed), which is great for kids. There are restrictions for dogs on the beach at certain times of year but this wasn't an issue for us. Our only minor negatives are the ladies loos ran out of toilet roll and why do the general sinks still not have mixer taps to avoid scalding, hence the Facilities score. (A 'hot water' cautionary sign above the sink is not sufficient when there are other permanent options). We would recommend this site, and the only reason we wouldn't stay again in the near future is that the area generally doesn't have enough, (restaurants/pubs/places of interest etc), for us as dog-owners.
The site is lovely my complaint is ignorant campers who think it's okay to walk through people's pitches rather than walk a couple more feet on the road as children see adults doing this they follow suit as they think it's okay ive nothing against children playing but it's only a matter of time before someone's caravan or motorhome is damaged by a bike or a scooter when they are riding them through pitches
This is just a glorious site with lovely views over the countryside. Peaceful and beautifully kept. It has a straightforward 20 minute walk to the long sandy beach and lines of beach huts. There is a concrete promenade all the way to Sutton on Sea (and on to Mablethorpe, although I didn't get that far) which is a very unspoilt little town with some nice shops. Also a wealth of countryside walks. Have already booked again for July.
Booked in on the 13th April for 7days. What a lovely site though thought it a bit quiet for Easter. Wonderful very helpful wardens, thank you for getting us booked elsewhere. That's the good bit. There were 4 very very noisy bird scarers going off, they started at 6.30 every morning and went off every 15 mins till 9 every night. Suffered it for 3 nights then left. A warning for anyone with a nervous dog, dont go here.
I'm not sure what it is with CC members but the showers, toilets and baby room are just fine...relax already.
The only down side. Minor tiny seasonal issue. Bird scarer device making a bang in the background every so often. Not intrusive at all. Didn't bother dog, toddler or baby. Mentioning it only as a couple of Daily Mail readers tutted when it went off as all agricultural activity must cease for their holid....oh, wait.
Site is exceptionally tidy, grass and pitches so pristine that out of guilt I will be asking for a rake on departure to take any indentations out of the gravel.
Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Really welcoming.
Great location for Skegness days out or quieter coastal activities.
Highly recommended. Certainly will be back
Lovely site, spacious and well laid out. Previous reviewers have commented upon shops and facilities being within walking distance .....mmm - this couple of old stagers drove! Sutton on Sea has a lovely promenade, a good Spar and a selection of nice cafes and restaurants.
The site's toilet block needs modernisation but is clean and well kept. When we were there probably only about 25 - 30 outfits shared the site. The toilet block coped easily - not so sure that it would cope so well with 110 pitches occupied.
The managers were wonderful; friendly, efficient and extremely helpful. We're novices and the thought of towing in the high winds of 31 March 15 was daunting. The duty managers arranged for us to keep our van there until we were able to return to collect it.
Looked forward to this site , but was disappointed with the overall condition of the toilet block, really needs an update to the facilities in the toilet block, caps missing off the tops of taps & cubicle door knobs even a WC cistern with a hole below the handle. Thought at first the floor tiles were dirty, but it was the age of these tiles that let the block down. Site access statement needs updating to reflect that you can no longer access the Public Footpath at the rear of the site, gate permanently locked. Site overall is tidy and ideally placed for accessing the area. Staff are friendly and only too happy to give advice and information.
