Great stay ruined by a comment from the warden

Lovely location and very tidy site. On our last morning we decided to take advantage of the warm sunny weather and cycled to the beach. watching the clock we made our way back to the site at 11.20am. on returning we packed the bikes and sun chairs away and made a trip to the loo. 11.46 the phone went, a warden reminding us we had to be off the pitch by 12, its a busy bank holiday weekend and we have to vacate the pitch as we are fully booked and when are we leaving. I have to say this really annoyed us...we were fully aware we had to be off at 12, I wouldn't care there were loads of empty pitches so it wasn't as if someone needed to be on urgently. I could understand if she rang after 12 noon, but before!!!!! On handing back the gate fob, we were told not to take the call personally, she was told by her warden husband to phone us. It created a bad uneasy feeling for us !

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are sorry to hear that you left the site with an uneasy feeling.  Our warden’s work really hard to ensure the smooth operation and management of the site as well as the safety of the people on the site.  The wardens recently had a case where another member had misread their departure date and this had a knock on effect.  Obviously being a bank holiday weekend the site was running full and the wardens wanted to double check that you were aware of your departure date to ensure they could continue to offer the best possible service to all members.  We apologise if you found this upsetting  - the wardens assure me that the phone call was conducted in a professional and pleasant manner.  Thank you once again for leaving a review.

Brilliant

I really don't know what all the negativity regarding the toilet block is about. They were spotless EVERYime we used them, not a piece of paper anywhere. Most people forget, it's the visitors that cause the mess so if you clear up after yourself it makes it better for others and avoids the blame being put on the wardens. Leave the toilets and sinks and showers in the same condition as you would at home, simples! We found the site lovely, peaceful and very clean and the wardens the best I have come across, very polite, pleasant and welcoming and a credit to the company and themselves. The only negative I have is the children riding around the site the wrong way and putting themselves in danger. This is not the wardens or site fault, it is the parents. Parents need to take more responsibility for their offspring as they would be the first to blame the car driver should an accident occur and it will before long. The club site shop is well stocked and reasonable rates, they also sell a range of flags etc in addition to foods and sweets and newspapers plus fresh eggs from the nearby farm. We stayed for 8 nights and have planned a revisit next summer as we found the site to be in the perfect location for travel into Sutton on sea, mablethorpe, Skegness etc but yet away from the hustle and bustle of seaside life and noise. We have 2 dogs and although the dog walk is off site, it is only next door to the perimeter fence of the site so is not a problem, again I can't understand the negative comments, after all the brochure does state dog walk on site or nearby! I think some people expect the world and to be honest the negative comments are pathetic, these people need to get a grip they are on a caravan site not a 5* luxury spa resort. Most issues are caused by others leaving a mess so perhaps everyone needs to learn to think about others a little more before posting negative comments on a site review which could impair the site popularity and lead to closure in the future!

Good location but tired facilities

This is the second time we have visited the Sutton site.  The site is well located and has many local attractions.  However, the site facilities are a little 'tired' and dated compared to other Club sites we have visited.

Not as good as previous years

We have used this site about 6x and always enjoyed it but this last time was not as good. The shower block was always dirty and I used it just after cleaning and it wasn't cleaned properly the sinks were filthy and the floor still had grass all over it.Children riding round on their bikes is a problem and can be dangerous at times riding round in the dark etc .But I think what has spoilt the site is having to choose grass or hard standing for this reason we will only book grass as there is some really bad hard standing pitches which are small dark and dingy along the front behind the road really they are only fit for motor homes that don't need much room .It was so much better when you could just choose a pitch you liked when you got there .

A nice site for visiting the coast

This is our 2nd visit to this site. We really enjoy the site the pitches are well positioned, the staff are polite and the facilities are clean. We love the site because we can cycle or walk to the beach and Sutton on Sea is quite compared to the resorts around but has everything you might need.

Sutton on Sea

A nice site but the toilet block needs updating and enlarging, especially when the site is full as it was when we were there. A half hour walk to the beach was pleasant and the kids enjoyed the beach. It can be noisy near the play area with kids playing football and at times speeding on their bikes.

dark lane

a well spaced out site, very clean, quiet. as with most club sites, the children are left to run wild, using the tarmac roads as racetracks.although the 5mph speed limit is clearly signposted, its not often adhered to. if you walk into town,(about an hour if you walk along the road)on your return be prepared to have to walk the last 300metres back to the camp in total darkness, along the unpaved road, which is used by the locals as a quick cut through. we found that they tended to drive towards you and speed up. im surprised that this isnt mentioned anywhere.  as usual there were certain pet owners that allow their dogs to mess anywhere.we were sat in our awning, and one women in particular allowed her dog to urinate in the lamp outside our van, then she threw US a dirty look and walked off. after chatting with a regular,i was alarmed to find out that the site is prone to flooding.again this is not mentioned. sutton is a small town, one visit is more than enough. the traffic free prom, had vehicles driving to the beach huts.

Good Site

Lovley well set out site, helpful wardens. Could do with more showers and more wash-up sinks but everything was clean and tidy. Only complaint I have was the chldren riding round the site as fast as they could in and out between pitches and going the wrong way round the road system. Maybe it would be a good idea to put some more fence poles round the site so its not an easy race track!!
