Away from the bustle but convenient

Stayed here for the first time mid April for three nights. Wardens were the friendliest and most helpful that we have encountered. The site is about 15 minutes level walk to the beach and another 15 minutes level walk along the promenade to Sutton on Sea. The bus stop is a brisk 7 minute walk from the site - we had to rush to get the hourly bus, that is expensive by the way. Mablethorpe has dedicated parking for motorhomes at £1 per hour. Site facilities are to the usual high CC standards and the pitches are well spaced and level. Stepping Stones at Sutton on Sea is a good place for lunch. Definitely coming back when the sun comes.

Noisy sunrise - dusk

Brilliant service from the staff: I had a new awning which is big (adds 3.2m to width of my van) so I phoned to check - no problem-we only have hardstandings in use anyway. Needed to add extra bodies for one night mid stay, computer can't do that but their can- except we had to discuss the price on the phone because their comuter added the extras in for the full stay as mine did, but between us we got it right. Noise? Well the farmer has several bird scarers in the adjacent field and they gave out a loud bang every thirty minutes. No doubt once whatever he has planted is thriving that will cease: I have been to SoS at least once a year for the last 4 or 5 years and never noticed it before, so either the farmer has a new toy or when I went before it was later in the season. Woke us early in the morning though, but being out during the day obviously it didn't bother us then. Even in early season plenty to see and do provided it doesn't involve fun fairs. Natureland at Skegness was as good as allways and the donkeys at Mablethorpe were ghreat for my 2 year old grand daughters first donkey ride. Don't let this review put you off, I'm trying to speak honestly "warts and all" and basically we had a wonderful time even though at times it rained.

Sutton on Sea

Stayed here for two nights at beginning of April. Lovely, peaceful location in attractive, well laid out site. Spacious, very clean and tidy. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Walk to beach could be a problem if you have mobility issues - not just over the road. Fish and chip mobile van on Wednesday night useful as no pub/restaurant in immediate vicinity. In Sutton there is a lovely restaurant (Sea Breeze) and various other eateries and pubs but this is a good walk away. Ideal for a relaxing break. Certainly intend to return.

Hidden Gem

What a fantastic little site this is. this was our second visit and it won't be the last. The site is a credit to the staff, immaculate and well planted with spring colour.  Peaceful and ideal for walks onto the near by beaches which offer excellent walks.  Super local restaurant and shop, "The Fat Seagull" within easy walking distance and on route to the beach.  The local fish and chip van visits the site on a Wednesday evenings and provides fresh local fish which are ready in minutes. 5*'s well done to the friendly staff who make your stay an absolute pleasure.

Little gem

Stayed at this lovely well maintained site for a couple of nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely spot surrounded by trees and tucked away next to a single track road. Good hard-standing pitches, plenty of space, clean shower and toilet blocks. Couldn't find any recycling bins but maybe I missed them. One very minor bit of feedback is that the showers are closed mid morning for cleaning and I bumped into a number of people who thought the same. Better to close mid afternoon or clean them 6am in the morning but I appreciate you can't please everyone :-) Great stay definitely going back (Cleaning times noted)

Quiet and Peaceful

What a little gem this place is. Tucked away yet with easy access to both the coast and local amenities. Freindly wardens and very clean. Whilst Sutton-on-sea is within walking distance, using a bicycle to go up and down the sea front to both there and Mablethorpe was a good way of both exercising and justifying the fish and chips! Whilst it was great for those of us who would consider themselves as trainee 'greys', even with the decent play area it has that might not hold enough attraction for the younger element.

First trip away for the new season and we weren't disappointed

This was our first visit to the site and the area. We arrived fairly late on Good Friday afternoon so the pick of the pitches was very limited, but we were not disappointed. Our pitch was really great and gave us a wonderful view of the countryside. The facilities on the site were very clean.  The shower cubicles are quite small compared to some sites but still more than adequate. I would have preferred a little more lighting at night time in the dishwashing area. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. I can't comment on the beaches as it was so windy we didn't really see them at their best.  We visited Lincoln which is a lovely city albeit about 30 miles away - it is definitely worth the drive.  All in all we had a great break and would highly recommend the site.  Thank you to the two sets of wardens who really made us very welcome and couldn't do enough to make the site a great place to stay. We will be back again.
