I was anxious about staying here as others said the site is noisy. It’s not. The motorway is hardly heard. No more than the waves if by the sea. Great site and great location for a stopover or for longer.
Great Location for an overnight stay
We stopped here for one night on our way to isle of Arran. We knew it was located just off the motorway and that is why we chose to stay here for the convenience. Although people say it is noisy, we did not. In fact we thought it would be more noisy as it is off the motorway. Very friendly staff on arrival and we had a great choice of pitches which were large. Nice walking for our dogs. Immaculate facilities. We would definitely return again.

Good location for breaking a long journey
We stayed here on our way home from a Scottish road trip. We spent 2 nights here and did the walk around the country park, which was about 5 miles on mainly good paths. There is a section through woodland which, in June, was swarming with midges, so we were glad we'd covered up with insect repellent! The site itself is a standard club site with gravel pitches and concrete paths. As a wheelchair user, I found it to be largely accessible, though the gravel is always hard to get over. The accessible shower room was great - good size and clean. Others have mentioned road noise. Yes, the site is right next to a motorway on the outskirts of Glasgow, so you can hear traffic but it didn't bother us and we slept well. The birds put up pretty good competition with their loud singing, which was nicer to listen to. The Toby Carvery and the country park are within walking distance but there are no pavements and dropped kerbs are a bit hit and miss, so it wasn't easy getting to either by wheelchair. I had to wheel in the road which wasn't too busy but some drivers weren't driving at sensible speeds. Overall, we liked the site. Probably wouldn't have an entire holiday there but it's great as a stopover to break longer journeys.
Good short stay
The site is beside a motorway interchange so is very convenient for a one night stopover. There is a noisy hum of traffic especially around 5 pm. We stayed for a few nights and hated the multilane busy motorway roundabouts in this area of the Central belt of Scotland.
We went to the Burrell Collection and enjoyed it. We went to Culross village and enjoyed the National Trust house and the charming village on a hill with tiny cobbled streets. We also visited Hamilton to check out the large M&S food hall and the large Sainsbury supermarket.
The site was immaculate.
We have our own facilities in the motorhome so did not use the toilets and showers. We thought motorhomes should get a reduction in the fee if they do not use the facilities.

Great Central location for exploring an area packed with culture and history
Great place for exploring this area and for stopovers when heading north or south. Yes, there is road noise, but the site is surrounded by trees and we didn't find it a problem. We tend to be out and about in the day. Facilities were great and the country park is a pleasant add on. I found early morning the best time to walk the lake.
Great place as a base
Others have complained about road noise. Whilst it was noticeable, it soon blended into the background but the site wasn't as peaceful as it otherwise would have been in such a brilliant location on the edge of the country park.
It's such a convenient location for visiting the area around Glasgow. The Museum of Transport and Tall Ship on the Clyde were superb (with a good cafe as well). The Falkirk Wheel was mind-blowing. Much to do there.
Don't be put off by negative comments. Try it for yourself if thinking about venturing into Scotland (or coming the other way into England).
Noisy
One night stay on way back from Scotland tour, nice site easy to access, clean facilities, Toby carvery within walking distance if don’t want to cook, also do breakfast. Closeness to motorway has its downsides, constant noise 24/7. It just doesn’t stop.
Ok for the one night wouldn’t stay longer as need to sleep.
Great Stopover
Stayed a couple of nights on our way to another site in Scotland. The motorway was noisy but then again the campsite is right next to it. We took a walk in the Country Park to stretch our legs which was ideal. The site staff were very helpful in advising on local supermarkets and petrol stations.
Constant road noise
We stayed at the site for one night each in April and May as a stopover on our trip to Scotland.
The loud noise from the motorway and nearby road junction was continuous day and night.
On our first visit we walked to the country park but found it very unnatural and disappointing, right next to the M6 and were shocked by the amount of litter around the path and benches so it wasn't a pleasant experience.
Other than that the staff were very friendly and helpful and the pitches and facilities were good.
Excellent stopover
We received a very warm and informative welcome. The facilities were very clean and bright. There was some noise from the motorway but it did not disturb us. Good dog walking directly from the site. Am excellent stopover.
