Would I return....?

Arrived 27th December to a very welcoming warden who was polite, friendly and full of cheer. Choose our serviced pitch (winter treat), set up and had a little walk around the site. All pitches looked level and we'll spaced out and nicely configured, no banks of units in endless lines like dominoes but little avenues and curves so the site felt roomy and light. Will comment on the road noise which we felt wasn't intrusive, it was in the background, a pretty constant hum of motorway traffic but within our van with the radio on quietly, almost non existent. 2 little niggles for us about this site, firstly, the little pavement outside reception being taken over by planters, signage and a barrier leaving no room to create space should someone be coming out of reception. This area felt cramped and overcrowded with unessential obstructions. Across from reception there are grass / tent pitches and creating a walkway on this side would be the perfect solution without compromising on safety or taking away any pitches. 2nd niggle, the service area near the serviced pitches wasn't lit after dark during our stay. We often do our loo later in the day and dispose of our rubbish and although with a torch, this was still possible, would have been easier and safer if the lights were on. This area is also a cross path towards the sites main washroom facilities but too dark at night. We are happy not to have too many lights for environmental and aesthetic purposes but feel certain areas need essential lighting. Overall, we liked the site. Perfect for stop overs or longer stays. Great for dog walks around the nearby Strathclyde Loch. The site was clean and tidy even in winter. The planters around the site looked very tired and lacking of care but I imagine in the spring/summer months, they would be full of colour. The answer to my title question, yes! We will be back to perhaps explore the area more or to just amble around the Loch and chill out.

Helpful staff

My husband and I stayed here last week and I have to say I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The laundry facilities are normally very good and as a full time Motorhomer I do rely on them a lot. Unfortunately here, one of the campers decided to use the place as a Chinese laundry, with wet clothes hanging around, stuff left in the sinks and machines. The male staff member addressed this with the camper and when I went back in, the room was spotless. I have noticed that the staff on all sites have had to cope with a different type of holidaymaker this year and I can only say thank you

POOREST WELCOME EVER

I have stayed at many CMC sites with my husband during our 10+ years as members, receiving warm and friendly welcomes every time. Unfortunately this was not the case here. I think this particular warden had skipped the module on good customer relations! At every site the first thing we are normally asked is - have you visited this site before? No - that was not even on the agenda. At the grand old age of 75 years of age I was treated like a child. Hand raised to stop me speaking, before she then raised her other hand and pointing her finger at my husband, she told him to wait outside. Our fault - one person meant one person and not one bubble. Our stay was complicated as we were between homes our new build having been delayed, so we were travelling with a campervan and car. For two nights of our ten night booking we wished to leave the campervan and travel down to visit family in Yorkshire. I had previously phoned CMC head office number to ask about this only to be told to check with the site. I phoned the site to check it out and was again told to check it on arrival. This caused the complications, resolved in a very unsatisfactory manner, with a throw-away remark - after all we're not a car park. When I returned to give our pitch number in order to receive the barrier fob, I tried to say I knew how it worked - I'd been before but was interrupted, told to wait until it was all explained to me. I then received a very graphic demonstration on how to use the fob as though I was a five year old. By this time we would have just left but since we were 'homeless' we had nowhere to go at short notice. The site itself was as we'd remembered- very clean and well cared for. The facilities especially the toilets and showers were first class. Yes there's plenty of traffic noise but that's to be expected being very close to the busy M74 motorway on one side and another busy dual carriageway on the other. Public transport is still a problem involving a very circuitous walk crossing these busy roads on overhead walkways. Strathclyde Country Park is great for families and dog walking.

Good stay .....but!!!

Return to this area to visit family. Site was excellent as usual, wardens very helpful. On Sunday we were informed of discolouration to water supply and were advised not to use and Scottish water would deliver bottled water!! None came, so we decided to go and buy our own. Morning of departure we found out that a delivery of water had been made and we had been missed out. Very frustrating!!! A little bit more communication would have been beneficial, between water department and wardens. Would definitely come back, but found our last day on site disappointing.

Spotless and friendly in a perfect location

It was the first time visiting this site and I chose it for its location close the motorway so that I didn't need to detour my journey north. The person on reception was really friendly and helpful, providing me with details about the site and the surrounding area. He immediately put me at my ease. The site was immaculate with a lot of care and attention given to make it feel welcoming. The dog walk around the site was well thought out with dog bins at either end. All pitches were on gravel and laid out so that it felt spacious with water and waste easy to hand. Yes, the motorway does wrap around half the site, but it really wasn't intrusive once I was tucked up inside my van. I only stayed one night, but went on several woodland walks with my dog. I did notice there was a Toby restaurant with walking distance, but didn't investigate. I will definitely be making this site a regular stopping off point, perhaps staying for a few days as there is so much to do in the area.

Road noise brings it down

Stayed here for one night on way up to highlands, the site is well laid out, very clean and organized with great facilities, showers etc spotless and great walks from the site. The road noise though is dreadful and carries on all through the night with traffic, emergency services sirens and boy racers (who sounded as though they were racing up the feed road for the site) so didn't get a good nights sleep at all - far from it. Its a shame because if the road noise wasn't there it would be a great site.

Great stopover, beautiful site!

We found this site last minute and chose a serviced pitch. It was a clean and immaculate site. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. Lots of space, very nice bathrooms. Easy access by car to Glasgow with parking, city bus tour a great day out. Must see includes the Kelvingrove Museum. Loved the loch nearby.

Another of our favourite sites. Lovely well kept site, spotless facilities. Good dog walks round the loch. Always a lovely welcome from the wardens.

Why

On our third visit to this wonderful site in the last two months we were surprised to find when the site was full and busy one of the toilet blocks was closed up for the winter. This policy would question why the need for two toilet blocks or why reduce facilities when then site is full of caravans, motor homes and tents? If the block was closed for the winter then why leave the internal lights on if no one can get into the building? We have never found any faults with this site, apart from our observations above, and will continue to use this site. We find if we sail on the morning or afternoon sailing we can drive to the site to start our holiday in a relaxed state.

lovely spot

this was the first time we had stopped here and I don't think it will be the last, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the site is spotless the only down side is the noise from the motorway, but hey ho we knew that when we booked it having read the reviews. its a lovely walk around the Loch and the park and the fun fair / amusement park is a massive bonus if you have kids our grand kids would love it. the bus stops are a way off so ended up getting a taxi to the train station, we ended up on an empty train station has there were and still are on strike every Sunday so we found ourselves walking down the road and catching a bus into Glasgow so beware of that issue at the present time.
