Excellent holiday!

The site is one of the best we have ever been on. The facilities are excellent and the wash rooms beautifully clean at all times. The staff really do work hard to keep the site looking it's best. Cannot wait to return.

Lovely spot

As with every CC campsite that we visited on our trip this week, the staff welcome was very pleasant. The site looked very pretty from the road as we approached and looked great in the early evening sun. A very clean and tidy site. Could not fault the efforts that had clearly been made. Took the advice of the staff and walked down to the pub on the seafront. A lovely place and well worth the 15 min walk. Make sure you go hungry. The fish and chips are very large. The path back in the dark is fine with a torch. There is a 200 yd section of the walk that is on the road however there was little if any traffic at night. Plenty of bats to watch as they fly around erratically. If you're going to visit Devon there will be narrow roads I didn't find it too bad but we have a motor home so may have been easier to barge through.

Recent stay at Start Bay

Lovely warm welcome from the wardens, much appreciated after the somewhat nerve-racking narrow approach to this site! All the grounds were impeccably kept, toilet block spotless. We enjoyed a couple of days of excellent weather which enabled us to make the most of the beautiful surrounding coast and countryside. Easy access by bus to Kingsbridge when the weather was less clement. I'm sure we shall return!

Lovely Site

First visit to this site over Easter weekend. Site very well maintained, the wardens Sue,Steve, Tom and Ali were very accommodating nothing was too much trouble for them. It is in a very picturesque area. The weather was dreadful when we were there but it didn't make any difference to our stay. The only problem is the road from Kingsbridge to the site is pretty narrow but it was worth it. We are going back again this year.

Pleasant Site

Stopped for a week over Easter 2016, very peacfull and clean, quiet and wardens were great. Approach from Kingsbridge is difficult towing but worth the effort. Great walks, beaches and pubs all very close.

Outstanding Beauty - A must visit

First time at this site. Went  Easter Break. Location outstanding beauty. Site is really picturesque laid out well on 3 levels. Does not feel overcrowded. Wardens Tom, Ali, Steve & Sue were very accommodating, friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble, made our stay all the more pleasant. Site was well kept, pitches clean, facilities excellent. Short walk across a gravelled path took you to the local pub which sells good reasonably priced food and takes dogs. We will definitely be going back later this year. Definitely one of our favourite sites.

easter break

Just got back from a lovely break at this site. The wardens couldn't have been friendlier or better organised for the bank holiday onslaught. This is a great site with the beach within an easy walk. Yes the road leading to the site is narrow in places but as long as you take it steady and look ahead its not really a problem. We didn't try them but there are several pubs within a 10 minute walk and a farm shop next door. Would recommend a visit.

Cracking site

Having read a lot of the reviews on this site I am left wondering if the Start Bay CC site is the same one I stayed at for four nights from 19 October 2015, the site was immaculate with well groomed grass pitches, not a drop of mud to be seen, the toilet block was as you would expect from a well run CC site. We have a moterhome and stayed on one of the many empty hard stand in pitches, the wardens where hard working and  professionals. Access yes it's in Devon, and as a lot of other C C Sites through the County the roads are narrow in parts but with care are are quite navicable, the roads are no worse than Yorkshire or Norfolk.  Having read the reviews I almost did not book this site, this site is in a fantastic location, don't be put of visiting due to the negative reviews, we will be back again next year, looking forward to it.

Disappointed

This site has many problems: 1. Although there is a warning, the approach road is narrow through small villages and is not for the faint hearted. 2. The site needs more hard standings. We had to go on a grass pitch as all the hard standings were reserved for motor homes because they could not be towed off if weather got worse. During the week the wardens had to close all the grass pitches, so were only left with under half capacity (46 pitches)! We normally like grass but were the only ones left on a muddy pitch. 3. Some of the hard standings are small, where the car has to be parked in front of the van. The Club has tried to squeeze in too many pitches. 4. The walk to the beach is mainly along a very busy road, much of which is only demarked by a white line.
