Great Site

We stayed at this site spring bank week 2016. The site was full but didn't feel over crowded the wardens were very nice and very helpful. The walk to the pub is not too far and the bus stop is just on the corner from the pub. In the other direction from the campsite is start bay one shop and a little gift shop ( but you can most things ). weather was very hot so pub on beach came in handy and the fish and chip restaurant was great. Will be going back soon. The Gribbons

Jewel in the Crown!

Stayed here for Whit week (30/5 - 07/06/16) for the 2nd time and can safely say, it is our most favourite site in the Caravan Club network. The site and surrounding area is very peaceful and is great for walks along the coastal paths. Best best (in our opinion) can be found at East Portlemouth, which is opposite Salcombe on the estuary. A boat ride across to Salcombe is also recommended. The road from Kingsbridge to Torcross is narrow in places, and best advised to refer to the Bus timetable if possible before arriving and leaving the site with the caravan hitched on.  Will we be back? YES.  Would we recommend? Absolutely YES

You won't be disappointed !!

We stayed between in our caravan between 29/05/2016 and 03/06/2016 and had a wonderful time as did our two dogs ! We were given a grass pitch, as all hardstands were taken, giving us plenty of room for car and awning with loads of room to spare.  Staff on site were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful The site has a small shop with the basics. All facilities were clean and well maintained. The beaches in the area are dog friendly as are the two nearest pubs: The Church House Inn and the Tradesmans Arms. The area is great for walking, so take your boots ! Slapton Sandalss is a short distance away, and an extended walk to Beesands is well worth the effort, especially if you incorporate a visit to The Cricket Inn. We have no hesitation in recommending this site, we are both looking forward to our next visit !

Ideal spot

Have stayed here before and return for the simple reason that it's a fantastic location the beach and exploring the surrounding countryside. Lanes a little narrow but the scenery to and from the campsite is beautiful. Clean and pleasant site to stay. As usual very friendly staff. Thank you. Highly recommended . Will be back

Great site

We stayed here over Whitsun bank holiday and would certainly return, although maybe out of season as the site was very busy. We travelled to the site via Kingsbridge which was ok for our motorhome but we were glad we were not towing a caravan, challenging lanes for caravans. Having said that it is a great location for walking and as well as quite a few pubs in the area there is a terrific farm shop next door to the site with a café. We walked over to Start Point lighthouse and stopped off on the way back at Beesands café where we had the best crab sandwiches ever!

Devon/Cornwall Tour.

Three nights here in Motorhome, on Devon/Cornwall tour.  Nicely laid out, clean tidy site. On the A379, so could be a little noisy on the top pitches. We had pitch 43 at the bottom of site, was quiet enough for us.  Friendly helpful wardens. Reception selling the essentials, plus bits and bobs (cards, maps etc) Well stocked information room.  No 3 bus into Dartmouth. Scenic ride plus a nice town to mooch about.  Plenty of walking from the site too. Torcross only 10-15 mins walk, mostly footpath, small section along road (behind the white line!) The Start Bay Inn, pleasant pub with good food, beer. Small shop post office in Torcross.  10 mins walk via footpath to Stokeham village. Ate in The Tradesman Arms and The Church Inn. Preferred TCI, Good atmosphere, excellent food, beer. The night we were in a Jazz band was playing!   Circular walk via Stokenham, Beeson, Beesands and Torcross.  Cricket Inn at Beesands well worth a try. Friendly with good food.  Stunning rocks on seaside walk back to Torcross ( if the tide is out) Enjoyed our stay, will return when next in Devon.

A real Gem!

First visit to a CC site and we were not disappointed. A lovely friendly welcome, nothing seemed to much trouble. A great site, beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean, a wonderful information room. Bus is very accessible to Kingsbridge or Dartmouth. Torcross a 15 min walk, pub, cafes and beach. Approach from Kingsbridge is a bit narrow in places but patience is a virtue and you are on holiday! Thanks for a great 3 days, see you soon.

An oasis of Calm

An oasis of calm, in an area of outstanding tranquility. Just back from a relaxing week at this spotless site. Lots of places to visit less than an hours drive away and plenty of good walks, if you don't want to drive. This was our first visit and we will be back in 2017.

lovely location

We stayed here for a 3 night break and loved it. It is located deep in South Devon away from main roads/motorways and yes there are some narrow villages/lanes to pass through to get there. Not a problem for us, just have to take your time and be a bit patient with it should you meet on coming traffic. Followed the site's recommended route and found it very easily. With a warm friendly welcome from the wardens we were soon pitched up and ready for a walk to the coast. Unfortunately the weather was terrible so we decided to take the 10min drive there and walked along the beach in the wind and rain. Exhilarating! The site was quite busy but very peaceful and the facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean. Will definitely be keeping this one on my favourites list.

Great Site in a Wonderful Location

Having read the reviews about road access to this site I was rather anxious about driving our motorhome to the site alone as my husband usually does most of the driving. Yes, some of the roads from Kingsbridge are narrow but with the 20mph speed limit through the villages and parked vehicles also limiting the road width then all vehicles have to take their time, so as long as you have some patience and are not rushing to arrive there is nothing to cause concern. On arrival the Wardens on duty were welcoming and helpful, even a kind offer of assistance hooking up - something else that is not usually my job. This site is well looked after and the facilities are spotlessly clean and warm with powerful hot showers. The staff were more than happy to supply useful local information about places to eat and from the site it's a short walk to two pubs serving good food and also a farm shop and cafe. I would thoroughly recommend this fairly small, quiet site but don't all rush to book at once as we would like to visit again later in the year.
