Superb site

Just spent ten days at Start Bay - could not have been better. It is a real credit to the hard working wardens. Everywhere was kept to a fantastic level and they are a really friendly quartet - well done, it is much appreciated! The site itself is well located to appreciate the Devon countryside and towns like Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. There are a couple of down points: The facilities are somewhat stretched when the site is full and there can be some road noise - in particular at weekends. Finally, it is worth checking the bus timetables from Kingsbridge heading towards the site - meeting a huge double-decker is an experience not to be forgotten on such a narrow road!

Relaxing holiday

Just returned from whit week at this site. Beautiful site to explore another side of Devon. Excellent clean and quiet site. Very narrow lanes to get to the site but lovely walk to the beach and pub!

Brilliant Bank Holiday weekend

Just returned from a wonderful long weekend at a great site. First trip away for our 12 week old puppy and we couldn't have chosen a better site for her first experience. Facilities are great for all members of the family, and not being too big it's a great place to get the kids involved in the camping chores!! A big big thanks to the wardens at Start Bay for keeping this site so clean and beautiful.

Peaceful Holiday

Having just spent 8 relaxing nights I can recommend this to all. Facilities are first class kept to the highest standards. Staff very  friendly and helpful, full marks to all.  This was my partners first time in a caravan, after this visit I am asked when are we off again, certainly got the bug thanks to the first visit to a first class site.  We will be back. Only downfall is the narrow road to get there especially when you meet the bus coming from Dartmouth. But all part of our wonderful experience.

Booked for 5 days but extended it to ten!  Weather superb for whole stay and had a wonderful time. Immaculately kept site, friendly and really helpful wardens. Beautiful location, so many places nearby to discover.  Fantastic early season break.  Many thanks.

Brilliant

Just home from a 4 night stay. Excellent wardens, excellent site and the circular walk, leaflet available from wardens for 50p, is an absolute gem. Well done all concerned!

Excellent site

A really super site, facilities are of an excellent standard and wardens really friendly, giving advice and extending our stay when we asked.  The approach is little narrow but as a first timer in a motorhome we found it very manageable you just need to go a bit slower in places. If you like walking you really won't go short, walk to Dartmouth, stop at the Green Dragon in Stoke Fleming for their famous crab sandwiches then either catch the bus back or keep going into Dartmouth and catch it back from there. In the other direction head to start point and keep going a little further to catch the seals basking on the flat rocks.  To eat you can't get better than the Bay Inn famous for their fish and chips, eat in or take away.  We were unlucky with the food at the Church Inn in stokenham and wouldn't recommend it although the staff were really friendly and it is in walking distance, we didn't have time to try the other pub in stockenham

1st time at this site

Just enjoyed 5 nights at this site. If you enjoy walking the coast path this site is a good base, & it's not far to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge & Salcombe. The 2 pubs in Stokenham are within walking distance from the site & the food is excellent & they don't mind dogs. The approach roads to the site are narrow but with care are not a problem.
