Lovely Site - Exit Mirror.

Another visit to this lovely and well kept site, had a very pleasant week the weather was kind to us no rain. The staff do a wonderful job of keeping the facilities and site clean, a pity some of our fellow campers don't follow their lead when using the facilities "Leave as you would like to find " The journey to/from KB can be interesting always check them local bus timetable No.93. Could do with convex mirror at the exit from site, quiet a challenge at times making safe exit - look and listen, but doesn't account for the lone cyclist as I found out to his and my surprise.

busy

At the height of the holiday season this was a very full site with some tight pitches, but the facilities were well looked after and perfectly adequate. The site is well located, with an easy walk to the villages of Stokenham, Torcross and Slapton and even over the headland to Beesands. The beaches aren't great, but the seafood available at pubs in all these villages certainly is. It was the first time camping for the grandchildren and was a great experience for them with the on-site play area so safely accessible. Our pitch was near the road which could be a bit noisy, hence only 4 for peace and quiet.

Fantastic Site

We stayed at the end of July. The wardens were very helpful and the facilities very clean. As a wheelchair user, accessing the path to Torr Cross needed some assistance as there is a very steep slope up to the roadside path. There are two excellent pubs near to the site and good bus service into Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. This is our second visit and we would definitely come again

A lovely site, convenient for Slapton Sands

We loved this site but visited at the busiest time of the year. The site was really busy yet still the facilities were spotless clean. There were quite a lot of children on the site, but they were not being a nuisance or noisy, just playing as kids do. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

excelent site

We had not been in this part of Devon for 30 years. The Site is excellent some pitches do seem to be getting smaller and I get the feeling that the "men in suits" that run the CC are starting to focus on the growing trend towards motor homes. That said the Wardens as always do a sterling job. In some previous reports complaints are made about reversing caravans onto pitches. I suggest the complainant gets a mover fitted. The area is full of interesting places and is steeped in WW2 history, I love the narrow lanes and small coves and would return again and again.

Great Welcome

One of the better sites on the coast of Devon. Pleasant location, clean and well maintained facilities. Handy for walking the coast footpath, and good bus service passing the site entrance to Dartmouth or Kingsbridge and Plymouth. Welcoming Wardens. Site is a little congested towards the western side, and some pitches too narrow to park car alongside caravan, and road way looks similar to queuing traffic.  17 days on site and reluctant to leave.

Warm and Welcoming

The approach roads to the site can be narrow in places with the better being from the Kingsbridge side rather than Dartmouth.  Location is perfect for access to Start Bay beach and only 15mins walk in either direction to public transport and good pub food. The team (Steve, Sue, Gary, Debbie) could not be more friendly and welcoming and available to offer advice and assistance in respect the site or the surrounding area.  The site and it's facilities were superbly presented, clean and tidy.  Will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend.

Great Area but some negatives.

This site is beautifully maintained by friendly hard working staff and is in a great area. Some negatives though. The access road is very narrow in places and took us 30 minutes of stop start motoring to travel the last 7 miles. The site is lovely but the pitches are close together. I have a HGV license but was unable to reverse on to the pitch I chose because the caravan tow hitch on the caravan opposite was on the edge of the road preventing me from turning the car to straighten the van. In addition the club member parked opposite us had to ask us to move both my car and the car on the next pitch in order to pull off his pitch. So although we loved the area and the really great team there, I'm afraid we won't be going back.

Super site

We spent seven lovely nights at this site, which has to be one of the nicest on the network. The approach roads are narrow and you need to travel with care from Kingsbridge to the site, but the views are lovely and the setting, once you arrive is idyllic. We took a pitch up the hill near the exit. These are the least used on the site apparently, because of road noise. It did not disturb us at all! As the site is laid out on several levels along the side of the valley, it feels smaller than it actually is. The wardens are very helpful and run a useful shop also supplying daily papers, the site is immaculately kept by them with the toilet block deserving of special mention. There are several small villages close to the site, with good pubs offering food and drink. Some of these are within moderate walking distance of the site. A regular and well used bus service runs past the site which can make for interesting enounters on the narrow roads. I met the bus both towing to and from the site, it is easy to pass so long as you don't try to press on too fast (which sadly seems to the local way). Further afield Dartmouth with ferries, a river steamer, and a steam railway also has numerous places to eat and drink, although parking can be a problem at weekends. Altogether, a really nice site in a very interesting area.
