We often visit this site as it is so beautifully situated amidst two woods. Fineshade & Rockingham and is run by the nicest people, Sue & Pete who keep everything immaculate and are a joy to meet whenever we return, offering useful local information as well as suggesting other Caravan Club sites that would suit our needs, cycling, walking etc etc.We visited just at the end of September during that really warm sunny spell as an extra bonus. Whilst not cycling this time,as we usually do, we walked through both woods and were treated to several sightings of the fantastic Red Kites soaring overhead with the sun highlighting their tilting red fork like tails.Breathtaking! Thank you Sue & Pete for looking after & keeping this little peaceful haven for all who visit.
Always enjoyable...
...to stay at this Club Site which is very well organised always tidy, clean and a very pleasant place to relax. The surrounding forest is a real bonus as is the 'Top Lodge Cafe'. The wardens clearly enjoy their work and are extremely professional and helpful. Everything is well signed and well organised and the 'on-site' shop and information centre are much appreciated. It is so well positioned for visits to the lovely town of Stamford and the Friday market there is well worth a visit. All in all, it maintains the high standards one expects from the Caravan Club.
At last found again
It was only as I turned into the lane that I realised I had at long last found this site again. I stayed here many years ago, probably before or after the Dog show in Peterborough. For years I have been tryin to remember where this wonderful place was located and thankfully I have found it again. Granted it has no toilet block but this makes the site a hidden gem to those of us who are happy to the environment within are all to well equipped travelling homes.
Close to Stamford and Rutland water and even if you never leave the site there are miles of walks/cycle tracks within the immediate surrounds. Important to keep as a secret gem.
Relaxing and convenient
Ideally located for exploring S. Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Rutland. Well maintained and all facilities checked daily (by deputy wardens whilst we were there). Would not think that it suits many families as there is little room for children to play and a preponderance of 70+ 'wrinklies' (of which we are two!!). It is quiet and well away from the road - except that on still, cold nights HGV's on the A47 running parallel to the site about a quarter of a mile away cause a background 'roar' which may disturb some - Saturday nights are much quieter!!
Faultless Site
We stayed 5 nights and we were very lucky with the weather. Good outdoor facilities next door at the Forestry Commission visitors centre. The site staff are very obliging and the site is kept immaculate. Might be a little remote for families and may not suit everyone if the weather is poor. We will return again next year.

Great Holiday at Stamford
We have just returned from a two week stay at this site. Its a lovely site well laid out and well kept. The wardens were friendly and very helpful. Lovely area and Corby nearby for all your shopping needs. Lots to do nearby and Fineshade woods great for walking when you want an 'at home' day. Many thanks.
Lovely Break
Always a pleasure to return to this site. Will be returning next year .

Peace and Quiet personified
Jeanne and I have stopped at Stamford (Top Lodge) on our way back from Dover to Lancashire on all of our European excursion to break the journey and relax a bit before we get home to the mountain of mail behind the door. Good choice of grass and hard standing pitches with or without shade. Lack of toilet block isn't a problem. Service points well placed and maintained and 16 amps is a bonus after 6 amps in most of France and Spain. New team are well into their stride and are making the most of this little gem.
A Little Gem
Just back from another stay at Stamford. The site was very busy even though it was September, mostly retired people enjoying the last of the summer weather. This site must rate as one of the best of its type on the network. It is large with many hardstandings and set in a beautiful location, especially for walkers or cyclists. The lack of a toilet block is (for me) a bonus as it means it is great value too. With modern caravan facilities why pay extra for washrooms when everything is in the 'van. I wish the club had more of this type of site as I sometimes begrudge paying the premium fee when I never use the facilities. This site is like a big luxurious CL with the benefit of wardens and the high standard of care of the site which the club is known for. I'll certainly be back.
