Howarth's Easter break

We returned to the Stamford (Top Lodge) site once again this year to meet with family. Once again we were met by the friendly warden. Admittedly there were a couple of challenges for him as we presented a free night voucher plus a money off voucher, but he passed his customer service test (as usual ) with flying colours and also advised us how we could alter our bookings in person-which I never knew you could do. So all booked in, had a chuckle at my brother in laws expense when we heard of his manoeuvring prowess, or not as the case was!  Once again Stamford provided us with the perfect, peaceful getaway that we all needed and gave us much needed family downtime. The site was again spotless and well maintained. Okay there is no toiler/shower block but we do have a van with decent equipment so we never see this as an issue. The site is well located near to Stamford with shops, supermarkets, pubs, tea shops and restaurants. There's so much to choose from I don't think we've even scratched the surface of what is there. The bonus of this site is the RSPB centre and lovely woods next door. There's a tea shop that also serves local delicious ice cream as well as great, well sign posted walks through the woods (which are all dog friendly) and activities in holidays and weekends. This is a great site for families, is well managed by the wardens and well worth a visit. See you all again soon!

Nice

Been here a few times now as it is only 20 miles away from home but feels like your  in the middle of nowhere.Lots of nice walks but beware of bikes going very fast on the paths.Expensive site for what it is there is no toilet block which we knew but it could easily be installed if only the Caravan club could be bothered.Water/toilet in nearby visitor centre, just needs extending sewage pipes, come on spend some of our money on facilities! Very peaceful, well kept and the wardens are not military in there running of the site.

OUR FIRST VISIT

Arrived on site 1.45 reception closed notice on door find a pitch and come back 4.00pm we had not site plan! we didn't know where anything was and didn't know you could pitch either way, as we later found out but this to late as we had set up. having 2 dogs ourselves we always thought you had to have them on leads all the time on site, but it didn't seem to apply here, lovely walks around the site as long as you remember cyclist have the right of way all the time and when you move for them they don't have to say thank you .

Stamford

A wonderful site with a very well stocked shop and excellent helpful wardens. Plenty to do in and around the site. One of our favorite sites.

excellent site

We've  visited the Stamford site a few times - we love the area with woods surrounding so good for plenty of dog walks. The site has always been  immaculately  kept  & it's nice to be remembered by the wardens from our previous visits. We did have high winds this visit but wasn't a problem apart from able to hear a little road noise which we'd  not noticed before. All in all though an excellent 4 night stop over - we'll  be  back again later in year !

A quiet peaceful site

This is our 2nd visit here, and it was lovely to be welcomed by Sue and Pete again, who do a great job on the site. We were surprised to see it so full when we arrived the day after it opened, but this goes to show what a great site it is.  My only gripe was with some of my fellow caravanners who don't understand what 5mph means, and were speeding round the roads, even when towing.... and those who cut across the grass to save a few yards of tarmac, cutting up the grass for the next visitors, and making more work for Pete to get it looking great again.

Consistently good site

We have been going to this site for years and have seen wardens come and go. However, Sue and Pete are the very best for this site. Sue keeps the shop well stocked with both essentials and some goodies. The site is immaculate and both Sue and Pete give you a warm welcome. Plenty to do in the surrounding area, walking in the woods or visiting places nearby. We are so lucky this is our local site so we can pop in for a few night stay at any time.
